City Ruins - North

As in all cities, some live better than others. Here amidst the city ruins you find a large residential area with several streets that run further into the distance. Either the damage done here was less than the rest of the area, or some repair work has been done in and around here as the buildings here are in much better condition than the damaged ruins to the South. In fact, only the occasional shell of a burned out vehicle seem to remind you that this isn't a healthy metropolis teaming with life. Well, that and the overall lack of people.

Johnny charges down the streets with Devi in tow, at least till he lets go of her hand. Eventually they slow to a walk and Johnny laughs as they continue onward. As they make their way towards the hotel that he and Vashearnia had been hiding in, the maniac shakes his head. "Why am I even bothering coming this way? She's going to be off to get blood, not to sleep." Sighing he leans against the building and shrugs at Devi. "I'm at a loss. What now, oh fearless one? Want to join my ranks of evil and help me destroy this world?" Why does he sound so serious?

Devi leans over to catch her breath, her hands resting on her knees, she looks sideways and up at him. Pale face flushed from the wind, she stands, taking a few good deep breaths. Shoving her hands into her pockets she leans back on her heels as she ponders. Vash isn't much concern to Devi right now, not much can be done about her at the moment. Flashing a grin at Nny, she chuckles, wisps of purple falling from behind her ear. "Ranks of evil? Sure, wait, only if I can be a general. IN THE ARRRRRRRRMY!" She sings 'In the army', doubting Nny will get her referance.

Johnny raises an eyebrow at Devi and chuckles. "I was kinda being serious, you know. I've about had it with this place. I can't take it seriously. You are the only thing here that feels real." Looking up to the sky he sighs, "It's like playing a game or watching a movie. I'd just rather be the one deciding how it ends." Trailing off to let her contimplate his words, Johnny pushes himself off the building he leans on and goes to kick a stray stone on the street. The stone suddenly grows arms and legs and screams as it leaps to it's feet and runs away. "Like that rock. Your powers. Vashtearnia. You can't tell me you think this is reality."

Devi shrugs as she leans against the building, sqatting in the process. Her head lightly thunks against the stone as her pale skin seems to brighten in the dark, as though the moon was shining upon her. "Again, sure. I wouldn't mind. I hope I'm real, I feel real and my thoughts, well... ok.. they aren't striat so I can't say they feel real, to jumbled." One delicate eyebrow rises as the stone takes flight from the pair, she smirks, feeling just a tad cartoony right now. "The rock freaks me out. My powers? I dunno, I'm still getting used to not being the bookstore girl. As for Vash, well, I chalk her up to Twisted odd community collection. I do think this is reality. What about Carla? Or Crux? Or the portals? " Pushing herself up she shifts somemore. "If you were to think back to when you first left our world, you'd agree that this all seems a bit......guh, unworldy. Sickness cured me of my box of thinking for possibilitys."

Johnny shrugs as he prepares his own theory for her consideration, "Or, all they've done is lock us up in some kind of horrible dream that we haven't worked our way out of yet. It'd explain how we knew what had happened to each other without being there. That's what I've started to think. I think we can fight our way out of this world and back to our own. I know it was shit, but at least it felt real. I don't want to live in the fantasy any longer. I don't want someone telling me what to believe in." Crossing his arms he sighs, "I want to know where the illusion ends, and I'm ready to use the fucking thing against itself to that goal..." Lowering his gaze to the street he almost looks ready to cry. "...I want you to help. Help me. Help me find the truth." Looking back up he locks his eyes onto Devi's. "Help me. Because if I'm wrong I want someone I trust to be the one to put me out of the world's misery. If I'm wrong I'm going down with a higher body count than the doughboys ever tricked me into. Assuming that was real as well, of course..."

Devi sighs lightly and tilts her head. If Nny could stand touching people, she'd hug him but alas. Things don't always work the way you want them to. Oh well. She thinks about his words, absently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. " I have to ask Johnny, when I first came here, you accused me of being a figment. Why and when did that change? What makes me feel real? I don't want to say yes, only for you to convince yourself that I'm not real and try to kill me again. You are my friend and if you answer me with honest answers, I'll gladly help." She lowers her head to contemplate the road once more as she continues, "I just have to make sure about why you're asking for my help before I trust you with my back, doing things that rely heavily on trust itself."

Johnny stares at her blankley for a moment or two. Then he turns away to scan the area around them. "...honestly? I'm not sure. I just know when your near I feel.... connected. My mind seems to work. I can talk about things I've gone through and you understand what I'm saying instead of writing me off like a loonatic. You seem to know that I'm not as crazy as everyone believes. Like a kindred spirit almost. I haven't felt that connected to someone since..." Trailing off he bites his lip. Instinctivly his Dread Dagger is drawn with the sound of scraping metal. "...since Sammy." He clutches the dagger tightly and pierces his leg with the topmost tip of it. Growling he withdraws the blade, a single drop of red taints it. "I could fight through hell itself with her and not look back. I feel that way when I'm with you. I want you to help me, because if you don't I think I'm going to go off the deep end and never come back. I've almost been there once already. I don't want to do that again..."

The night air gentlely sweeps across the City Ruins, light from the moon casting odd shadows from the buildings. Devi takes all this in, the smells, the sounds and the feeling. She considers this, the quiet peace, then considers Nny words. She really has to think about how he feels right now, after all he's been through and how old he feels and how she would feel if it were her. Squatting down again, she extends her pointer finger and lets a very small stream loose, pulling the energy and basically carving a sideways 8 into the ground. After she's made her mark, she rises and stands by Johnny, looking at him eye to eye. Her eyes are filled with sorrow for what he's had to go through and she trys to smile, failing miserably. She nods and looks out on the City Ruins again. "Alright then Nny, I'll do whatever I can to help, to all ends then."

Johnny nodding at her words a grin forms on his face. It slowly widens until his infamous wicked smile spreads nearly from ear to ear. "Excelent! Wonderful! This world and whatever the fuck is beyond it won't stand a chance against the two of us! ...but since I have no idea what we should do next besides buying our time... let's go celebrate!" With each word the sarcasm seems to grow heavier and heavier. But the point is still valid. There isn't much they can do at the moment. His smile fading he shrugs, "So? Seriously? Can I buy you a drink? It's not like there's anything else we can do at this hour." Sighing he adds under his breath, "I hate how boring this place is..."

"Sure, you're buying." Sliding her arm into his, she marches towards the UR, Fizz hopes of Coke running though her head. "And with you around, not much is boring."
