Road to Porre(#493R)

Connecting Fiona's Villa to the southern coast of South Zenan is the long road referred to as the Road to Porre. Through the small field of trees to the East you can see a small bay, used by locals for it's excellent fishing and it's beautiful beaches. To the West you can see the tops of tall cliffs and mountains above the towering trees. The area is peaceful enough for a land that once was home to such a terrible conflict back in 600 AD...

The day wears on slowly, as Guardia's First Knight marches onwards. He's been walking for... a long time. Porre isn't that far now... he'll probably make it by nightfall. Not the best time to begin an investigation, but Glenn doesn't get to choose the time and day. Well, at least he didn't get held up by that strange young boy with the multitudes of flying daggers... That much he can be thankful for. However, something else has been bothering him immensely. As he draws nearer to Porre, that feeling tugging at his heart has been growing stronger. That absolute certainty that something has gone terribly wrong. It's not something the Knight is used to feeling, so it is with trepidation that he continues his march.

Abruptly the birds fly from the trees overhead. The avian cloud flies south, towards Porre which is odd for this time of year. An eerie silence spreads to envelop the area as if all the animals in the forest have vanished along with them. The air itself seems to grow thick and heavy. The feeling of being watched surely tries to claim the former Frog. For a long moment nothing happens then suddenly a familiar crackle of energies erupts somewhere out of sight. The sound of a Gate being opened, and then shortly closed. This can't be right... there isn't any time portals here? Footsteps walking in the trees becomes louder and louder. Finally a shadowed figure appears, it's white eyes burning from the darkness and along with it the haunting laughter of a long dead adversery. "MWA-HAH-HAH-HAH! So, this is one of the fools dedicated to saving the day? Pathetic..."

Glenn's right hand goes to Masamune without any hesitation, though it doesn't draw it just yet. His eyes narrow upon hearing the footsteps, and he tenses at the laughing voice. Something tugs at the back of his mind, and his eyes widen... just a bit. "...A familiar voice." He turns to face the eyes, his eyes narrow further, suddenly and quickly battle ready. But the Masamune is still in its sheath. "... I did not expect to hear it ever again." Idly, Glenn wonders if the owner of the voice will even recognize him, given his form when last he encountered it... but more importantly, he wonders what is happening... first a time portal opening somewhere nearby, even though he's never known one to be here... and then this voice... Something was VERY wrong indeed.

Queen Zeal steps out of the shadows. She looks much the way Glenn would remember except for the bronzed mask adorning her face. Then again, he might recognise that too. It's similar to the one she wore atop the Black Omen in the future they prevented. Her eyes are pupil-less as she gazes at the hero. "Have we met? Oh ho ho, I doubt so in this life. Then again, we've consumed many worlds in our reign. Many souls have perished in the hellfires of the darkness that lies within. Your soul shall soon join the others..." Without much of an explanation the woman raises her arms, her braclets have begun to float around her arms and the sound of the metal chiming against one another fills the air. Whispering silently a moment, Zeal suddenly points towards the Knight and yells, "HALLATION!!" As the word echoes out into the dusk air engery begins to well up beneath the former Frog's feet and beams of light begin to explode all around him...

The eyes widen again, and Glenn's eyes snap downward towards the ground before narrowing again. "I wouldst prefer not." He slams both of his hands down, one gripping the other's wrist, and crouches down in what looks like a defensive stance. White orbs of magic flow out around his hands, and he speaks quietly. "Cure." The beams of light explode around him, but are suddenly tempered as healing magic flares into life around him, combatting, or perhaps simply counter-acting the long dead Queen's assault simply and without circumstance. .oO( ... This is not happening. ) A gloved hand grips the masamune, and without a delay, Glenn leaps backward, a draw-slash vaccuum cut being sent out towards Queen Zeal. Truly his mastery of the legendary sword grows every day. "...So you are responsible for this?."

Queen Zeal's bracelets continue to chime as energy pools around her despite the missed attack. It forms a barrier around her which vanishes once Glenn's Vacuum Cut slices it in half. She glares at her prey. "Responsible? I am the embodiement of the great provider. I am the intended ruler of all worlds." She brings her hands together infront of her, fingers nearly touching, and a beam of blinding energy erupts from her hands and comes screaming accross towards him. "...the people shall easily bend to our will with or without your life force being on this world. No, you are simply a thorn in our plans and you shalt not be allowed to intervene..." The second the energy leaves her hands, her bracelets begin to chime again readying for another assault.

"...As always, you under-estimate the people's strength." Bold words, but then, look who we're talking about, here. Glenn leaps quickly to the side as he swings the Masamune into the attack, pushing the energy off to the side. This results in the former frog barely avoiding the blast of energy, and sending a will-powered wave of white energy towards the insane Queen from Masamune, his voice low again. "Grand Slash..." A grand slash, indeed. "You shall not visit your pestilence upon us once more. Now that you hath revealed yourself to me, you hath already lost."

The insane Queen raises that energy barrier of hers again and is forced back slightly as the Grand Slash tears through it. She lowers her head, keeping her eyes on the Knight. "Reveal ourselves...? You poor fool..." She stretches her arms out to her sides and clinches her fists. An enourmous amount of energies begin to build around her fists, her hair begins to float as if the bonds of gravity are no longer holding her. Her eyes blaze with a blinding silver energy. "...we've not even BEGUN to show ourselves to you..." The ground itself begins to ripple as waves of energy pulse beneath her feet. In a dazzling show of energies beams of light rip out of the ground and up into the heavens. One by one they drop like stones, exploding and burning anything they touch in a one mile radius!

[!]The woods north of Porre suddenly engulf in flames as a blast of energy rockets into the sky, falling and burning everything in a one mile radius of the epicenter.

Glenn of Guardia stands his ground now for a moment, the Masamune still glowing from the Grand Slash. "Hardly true. I know you, blind queen." His steely gaze holds as her eyes flash with silver, but then his eyes widen suddenly, the pupils shrinking down incredibly small. "... By the light." The knight dives to the ground, slamming Masamune straight down and curling up to make himself as small as possible as he lets the shield on his back take the brunt of the force. It's a really, REALLY, *REALLY* good shield. Would've come in handy the first time he'd encountered this. Still, the sheer FORCE of the attack drives him flat upon the ground, the explosive forces tearing at his clothes and skin as the ground craters underneath him, and he gasps in pain as parts of him break that he wasn't aware could break. "Guh... ... No... that's impossible..."

Queen Zeal hovers just above the charred remains around her. A perfect sphere of destruction seems to have been burned into the forest, the trees along the edge still burning fiercly. The Queen looks down at the battered figure knealing before her. "UWA-HA-HA!! You have no idea how far our power goes... but we are happy to show you." Already the air is filled with the hypnotic chiming as her bracelets begin to clink together once again. "Don't worry, you'll soon join your friends!! So many shall fall before we accomplish our goals..." The air begins to tingle as she prepares to strike once again...

At Zeal's words, Guardia's First Knight slowly, painfully stands to his feet, looking towards Zeal with wide eyes. "... You..." He reaches over to the Masamune to rest his hands upon it, leaning against the sword and taking comfort in the feel of it in his hands, for what it's worth. "... No... nevermind. Reason was never one of your strong suits..." Glenn pulls the Masamune out of the ground and holds it up in a defensive stance, obviously battered, but not looking down for the count, despite the monumental force of the attack. That's actually pretty impressive, really. Such things are not generally surviveable. "...This is not over."

Seemingly the moment that Glen states the battle is not over, a flash of purple light appears in the sky. In the wake and fade of the light, the two forms of Magus and Schala appear in the air, floating. All they see is devistation, as far as the eyes are able to see... and what troubles Magus most is the source. Undoubetedly it would be the woman across from him that is so like his mother it's uncanny.

Immediately, the mage points down towards Glen who looks to be in dire straights. He floats down quickly with Schala in tow, his hand still gripping hers tightly. "Schala, he needs help. You remember him... he used to be the Frog. Now he is something greater. As for me..." His eyes being to pulsate with etherial purple light as he turns them back up to observe Quenn Zeal...

"Monster... you were supposed to be dead!" he exclaims as he immediately takes back to the air once again. He hovers at eye level with the queen but keeps his distance for the moment... still, he is radiating with all the power he can muster at this point... which is not much, but he's not going to let her call out that bluff if he can help it.

Schala quickly took a look around herself, the moment she appeared. She immediately locked eyes with the familiar sight of Queen Zeal, or something that bared enough resemblance to her. Her attention was snapped away by Magus as he called on her to attend Frog. "Right..." Is all she says, giving Magus' hand over to drop down near Frog. ".... I wish we could have become re acquainted under different circumstances." She says quickly before channeling a healing spell, large white wings sputing from her back in their manifestation of her power.

The energies crackling in the air around the mad Queen intensify. She raises a hand to the air, her braclets chiming chaoticly around it. The dim light in the air turns a blood read as she opens her fist and... Taking notice of her sibblings the Queen hesitates briefly, dropping her arm in the process and banishing the spell she was preparing. Any expression on her face is instantly hidden as she raises an eyebrow and smirks, "Ahh... Schala. Janus. A shame you two couldn't have stayed true to my instructions before the merger was completed. Still, you shall make a grand sacrifice to us. We shall be reuinited within the will of the Great Provider..." With no reguard for the life of anything around her she brings her fingertips together infront of her breifly, and then spreads her hands apart casting an eliptical blast of energy towards everyone before her. Glenn will not be happy to hear the phrase echoing from her lips in the process. "HALLATION!!" The ground beneath the three heroes begins to ripple as rays of light begin to explode around them.

Glenn of Guardia lowers his head a bit as Magus arrives on the scene, exhaling in relief. "...Good timing." And then he notes Schala as she heals him, and his eyes widen a bit. "... What in the name of Guardia has been happening?" His eyes go wide as the air turns blood red. No... But... the mad Queen changes over to ... ANOTHER Hallation. He exhales a little bit, feeling fatigued already. Too much of his energy flying around. "Heal!" Blue and white orbs swirl around him, and the effects of the spell are partially countered, not just in himself, but for Schala and Magus as well. Still, it's not as effective as his last healing spell, and his breath comes heavily. This is not going well. "... We should withdraw." Withdraw? Glenn? Why?

"Vile creature. You take after my mother very well. Flattery, however, does not su--!!" Yes, Magus was about to go on some long winded rant about how Zeal wasn't really Zeal and how he was going to kill her right now and be done with her forever so we'd never have to see Zeal again but she seems to be blazing guns first and talking second. Without hesitation, he quickly pushes his own energies down towards the pulsating tendrils of lights. He quickly speeds towards the other two heroes so that he can envelope them in his spell... he just hopes it's enough. "Let this barrier hold against her fury. Nothing shall pass!" he exclaims as he slams the hilt of his scythe into the ground to add emphasis.

The barrier of magical energy rises from his body and scythe, pushing out towards the hallation that Zeal has used. He only hopes that the surges of energy can hold... otherwise, that attack is going to hurt.

Schala doesnt have any weapon to speak of... but she did have her pendant. She clasped both her hands around the pendant, which began to swirl with colors and glow brightly. The Hallation was a spell she was familiar with but.. beyond that, she knew nothing else. When Magus' shield envelops them, protecting them from harm, Schala takes the opportunity to channel more energy through herself, reaching out to Frog, casting a spell to increase his agility. The enchantment would not last for long, but she figured he could use the boost more than Magus at the moment.

A large bolt of lightning suddenly flies down from the skies, aimed directly at Queen Zeal. A sudden flash in the sky occurs, as the bolt suddenly splits into five parts, a small dot in the sky growing larger as what seems to be Crono riding down upon the fifth bolt, his sword drawn and thrust out infront of him, as if he's going to impale Zeal upon the Rainbow blade. An unusual yell come from Crono, seemingly quite angered this time around. "I'm sick and tired of something always going wrong whenever I try and relax. First Lavos, then Magus, and yet, another ghost whose ass I remember soundly kicking comes back to haunt me.. Oh that is it.. No more nice hero."

Lightning... fire... healing... spells of all kinds being tossed around. It's unlike the kinds of battles that Serge has seen. All of his spells came from artificial components that reacted certain ways to certain properties... this, clearly, is not that way. The kind of spell that caused this devistation was unholy at absolute best. So as he runs in, he immediately leaps into the air, into action. The aggressor seems to be the woman with the gigantic shoulder pads, so he draws his swallow out and tries to do a leaping slash at her... just at the same time Crono is making his lightning-surf stab. Perhaps it's a new take on an X-Strike... but whatever it is, he just hopes it cuts her down.

The lightning and flames would quickly be joined by a swirling, twisting blast of freezing winds and ice shards from a ways back on the the battlefield, the ice magic aimed squarely for the crazy Queen! "HEY! Don't you know when enough is enough?!" She was NOT in a good mood! She'd come running... and now she finds Queen Zeal here! She reached behind her back and unslung her crossbow, quickly loading a bolt and hoisting the thing up into a ready position, level with the Queen. "Let's get her, Serg--" Then she noticed the lightning, and her head spun around... "Crono!!" Where had he been?!

As Glenn's cries fall upon deaf ears, and everyone takes the offensive, the mad Queen immediatly begins to summon up MORE engergy. Loose rocks and pebbles about the crater of South Zenan begin to levitate slightly even before the effects of Hallation have had an opportunity to dissapate. Zeal raises her palms towards the trio and is already whispering the begining of another spell when the sky flashes a blinding white and sends her forcebly backwards. With barely enough time she manages to throw the building magics into a barrier which vanishes as it's impaled by Crono and Serge. Beneath the bronzed mask covering her face, which some heroes might recognise as the one she wore upon the Black Omen, she scowls. Her bracelets immediatly begin to chime again and the Queen of Zeal lifts into the air. The pelting of ice causes her irratation, but doesn't seem to be doing any direct damage. Shaking her head she addresses the group. "Alone or together. The outcome shall be the same, it shall just take longer than planned..." Without hesitation the queen lifts a gloved hand upwards infront of her face, fingers held together. With a faint whisper she twirls her hand in a mock wave and directs the tips of her fingers towards Glenn. Energies swirl around her and spin towards the Knight in a varient of Life Shaver. Before he could possibly brace for it she's already at it again with her other hand, this time charging a crackling sphere of energy and extending the palm towards him reading a second attack against him the moment the first comes to a close...

Glenn of Guardia stares at Zeal, breathing heavily, and suddenly the knight falls to his knees as his very life is cut apart, and blood seeps out of his mouh, the man barely holding on to his consciousness. "...." He can't manage up the concentration to heal himself, so he just braces himself, expecting a second attack to follow and take him into the hereafter. "... Leene..."

"Glenn!" Magus yells as the energies hit him. His barrier wasn't strong enough to hold out, nor was he fast enough to deflect the attack. With reinforcements arriving, Magus makes a hastily decision. "I am getting you out of here. I will not let you die here!" he exclaims as he dashes for Glen. He wraps his arms around the man and in a flash of light, they are gone in seconds. Probably back to the cathedral where he can nurture the man back to health. He would rather be fighting, but he knows that is not possible for him at this particular moment.

As soon as Crono's feet hits the ground, he's already rushing towards Zeal. His hands rise above his head, rapidly gathering the magical energies. Both hand come down as the spikey headed hero yells, "LIGHTNING!" Once more the sky flashes as a single bolt of lightining flies towards the insane queen. His gaze turns towards Glenn, only to see the faithful knight take a full on attack from Zeal. "Oh.. It's on now Queenie.." He rerturns his gaze to Zeal, his eyes narrowing together. He continues forward at top speed, his sword blurring as he starts rapidly slashing at Zeal, trying to cut the crazy woman into pieces. He slices and dices folks, it's the amazing Ginsu wielding hero!

As usual, Marle was going to be playing support, especialyl if the amount of fighters was going to be reduced... it was up to Crono, she knew that much! She couldn't defeat the Queen... but Crono was strong. She had to help him! "Magus! That's not--" --not the way he generally acted, she knew... but no time to worry about that now! Marle charged toards the queen, leveing her crossbow at her and slamming down on the trigger, sending a bolt wreathed in crackling raw power straight for Zeal!

Munin appears silently from behind Marle, flinging both sickles at Zeal. However, as the sickles reach her, if either of them hit her OR crono, they pass through, doing no harm. Those with quick vision will see the REAL Munin standing on the ground behind Zeals position, chanting. As she appearently finishes, the illusion of her that is with the heros vanishes, and she points her finger at The deranged Queen. A point of negative light appears under her, and rapidly begins to expand into a dome shape, whether she gets out of the way or not, before fading back into normal light.

"Mwa-hah-hah!!! Leaving so soon? At least we have so many others that need our attention..." As the words leave her mouth the heavens part and come crashing down upon her. In the midst of the attack the sound of something flying through the air blends into the explosion from the charged light and Zeal is sent spinning backwards. She doesn't hit the ground, and she never notices Munin's false attack. In a knealing position the Queen rises, plucking the arrow from her mask without so much as a flinch. Whether or not it did any damage has yet to be seen as she flexes her fingers and fills the air with the sound of her chiming braclets once again. With a horrific roar not even in her own voice, the Queen lifts her hands in the air and screams, "GRAND STONE!!!!" The very sky seems to open up and something insanely massive beings to appear in the darkness above. Something massive and falling towards them with a completly diffrent kind of roar. The air itself seems to be ripped apart from the attack as the deafening sound continues...

"...I really hate that one.." Crono glares at Zeal and rushes backwards towards Marle. He grabs her by the waist, tossing her over his shoulder. He keeps running, intent on getting the hell out of there with that thing coming down on them. "Sorry dear, but you know how I have a serious allergy to giant things falling from the sky on me. It makes my face break out."

"Shadow Magic?!" Marle blurted at the sight of the dome. That looked REALLY familiar... really, really familiar. And she only knew one person off the bat that could use Shadow magic. Her head snapped around and she glanced back at Munin... but instead of starting up battlefield chatter she instead focused on fighting the Queen! "OH NOOOOOOOO!!!" That was -NOT- good, not good at all! Marle wasn't stupid enough to stand in place, she kicked off of the ground in a sprint and began to high-tail it away from the incoming GIANT rock.. --just in time to get grabbed by Crono! "Eeeeeek!" Well she was startled definitely, but she clung to him like gorilla glue the moment she got her bearings! "Thanks, Crono!!" Yeah, she DID sound half-terrified, but she trusted Crono to get them both out of there!

Munin's eyes narrow, and she begins chanting as fast as she can. Her form shimmers a moment, and following that, a magic shield forms around her person as she stares the Queen down, giving the others time to escape. She then shouts at the queen "YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD!".

Queen Zeal screams incoherrently beneath the sound of the falling stone. As the sky closes up behind it, Munin's words echo out catching the Queen's attention in the nick of time. Throwing her palms out towards her, the mad monarch screams, "MUNIN!!!" Soon the entire base of the massive crater explodes to life as one time gate after another opens up and combines into a massive gate intent on pulling her away. In the destruction that follows from the crashing stone both Zeal and Munin seem to be gone, the ice and debre manage to put out most of the fires, but the road to Porre is blocked by the massive chunk of rock. It will clearly be quite some time before the people of Truce can come this way again. Too bad the only ferry in the world still operational doesn't stop on North Zenan anymore...
