Manoria Cathedral - Sanctuary

Stepping inside, your greeted to the damaged remains of a once glorious church. For the most part the place is intact aside from a thick layer of ash and soot. Four large stained glass windows look into the room depicting some of the local legends and of the castle, some feature both humans and non-humans living happily together. Several pews are about the room. Some have been overturned in the former confusion, and a couple have turned completly to dust. Surprisingly, the large pipe organ at the rear of the room seems to have sustained the least amount of damage. Aside from needing to be cleaned it looks almost new. Oddly enough, someone has been playing with the keys judging from the smeared fingerprints atop it...

Schala is sitting on the steps of the altar, with her head in her hands, thinking deeply about the last attack she took part in. She felt totally useless. Since then she had been doing nothing but training herself... but... as a result, everything hurt. Straining her body caused endlessly sore muscles and straining her magical ability was causing serious headaches. At the very least, she was doing much better and she would be ready. Sighing openly, she looks up, trying to get a good look around for newcomers.

The doors of the sanctuary open slowly as a familiar robotic being opens them, walking in as quietly as a heavy one like him can. He heard Magus was staying here, amongst other people, but he isn't here for answers, he's here to wait until someone comes up that he must help with. That is, if all the talk going around is true and this is going to be used for a stronghold. It's amazing what a robot can pick up when people talk like he isn't there. His optical orbs glow faintly as he scans the room. And slowly walks inward. Taking note of Schala first, he raises a hand to wave toward her as he walks.

The mage known as Magus emerges from behind the organ through the hidden door. He had opened it earlier to make some preperations in the back of the cathedral. Those being done, he returns... only to find his sister in dissaray. Such an image never sits well for the wizard (as some would call him), so he floats towards her. Tentatively, he reaches out to place a hand on her shoulder. "What troubles you, dear sister?" he asks, watching her carefully. Robo is noticed, but for the moment, he says no words to the giant tin can.

Schala waves Robo over, looking up at her brother. He could be so silent sometimes, it scared the crud outta her when he snuck up when she wasnt paying attention. Jumping a touch, she looks up at Magus. "Janus..." she says instinctualy upon recognizing him. "I... feel exhausted. Ive been working hard to try and... make myself stronger. As you know about the attack Robo and I participated in..." she gestures to Robo. "Im sure he could tell you with... greater detail my fantastic failure to protect anyone."

Robo comes to a halt and watches the two speak, his hand neatly settling at his side. A light beeping noise comes from him. "As I recall, you were not the only one who had trouble, Schala." he says, since he could do very little to help anyone either. "And you did a fine job of protecting Glenn." he adds, as if it would help. A respectful bow is given to Magus, and likewise, no words are given to him. If either of them could have done anything, it would be a miracle. That beast was not right, not the same.

Magus is about to question why Glenn would need protecting, but he then remembers which Glenn they are referring to. He mumbles something to the effect of "that boy is not going to last..." but he keeps it somewhat quiet. He does not want to upset Schala yet at the same time, she knows how he feels about the 'knight'.

That, however, was not the cause for concern right now. Schala herself is. Thusly, the mage moves to sit beside her. He is not much for giving words of comfort... but he will try. He loves his sister, after all. "How do you measure failure? Lives you saved? Those you healed? You are not a fighter, Schala. You may have some training, but it is not your strength. You did the best that you could, with the circumstances involved. Were I there, I would have helped you dispose of the creature. I am sorry that I was not... but that is not the point. You did your job and you did it well. Regardless of what anyone else says or feels. But... you are not a fighter, sister. Think back to when the impostor... our so called 'mother', unleashed her attacks. Do you not remember the spell you cast that helped bring everyone back to their feet? Did you not help then? Surely, you can do the same again. I have no doubt that you will."

To reassure her, he flashes a smile. Brief, but a smile nonetheless.

Schala listens closely to her brother. It was so unusual for him to say so many kind words to her in one sitting. She want to reach out and embrace him right there, but... she knew how he felt about open displays of affection. However, the smile... when Magus smiles, one must check over their shoulder to make sure the apocalypse is not far. Still... she smiled up at him. "Thank you... perhaps you are right... but... I think... there will be no place to hide unlike last time. I wish I could be like you, brother. But... perhaps I should leave the fighting to those who know how." she motions to Robo. "He did wonderfully in the battle, however. I have... never seen such an odd fighting style before." She moves to stand up, but every muscle in her body ached, and she did wince with every strain. "As... for mother... do you really believe that she is not still there?" She looked to robo. "You have many ways of... intuiting things." she says referring to Robo's ability to scan things. "Did you not get any sense of her in there? Im... sure she is still there..."

So Magus doesn't like the Glenn of El Nido. Robo takes note of this, and listens to the speech of the other two. When it gets to the battle they had fought before, he comes to a realization he knows nothing of what they are talking about, other than the info of Porre being blocked off and the big battle. And the part about sensing Schala's mother... Confusing. With a few more beeping sounds, "I regret to say that I have no idea if she is there or not." he says, and that's about it. The praise of his battle ability does not go unnoticed, but he doesn't give it any more than a single thought.

"... She is not our mother. She is Lavos." Magus leaves the statement at that as he rises back to his feet. He gives Schala and Robo a bit of space as he walks over towards one of the stained glass windows to look outside. "Not just any Lavos. Much more powerful than the one we faced before. It is the reason the world is the way it is."

Schala looks down at her feet. She is not convinced that her mother is truly gone. Though, she has thought many nights on the possibility, she would rather err on the side of life. "Perhaps... there is no way to really know for sure." She says just as much about her own theory as she does about Magus' certainty. Looking to Robo, then back to Magus, speaking to both. "I wonder... how much longer it will be before we are called again to battle. However... in the meantimes, what hobbies have either of you taken up to pass the time?"

"I have gathered that much." Robo comments on Magus' statements in particular. A bit of thought goes into...hobbies, as he stands there silently. Aside from his usual technological sounds. "I have been visiting the forest on South Zenan from time to time." If you call that a hobby, at least. Other things he has been doing is searching for people that may be around that he knows.

"Schala, there is no way around it. Our mother is dead. Where she belongs. This impostor is an abomination brought on by Lavos. A puppet. It is not her." Magus seems to burn with anger as he makes the statement. His eyes flash purple briefly. "Taking her down and consequently, Lavos, is the only way we can fix this world. So straighten up, sister. From this moment on, you grieve no more. Your mother is dead. Rotting in a deep, dark pit for all that I care," Magus states as he floats away from the window he was looking out of.

The mage knows his words will be hurtful to Schala, but in his mind, there is no other way to get her to see what is truly going on.

Schala does look rather hurt by his language... referring to a mother she knew for so long. Though, around the time he could remember, she was never herself. He never knew her before she became absorbed in Lavos' power. She says no more, but... she refused to accept this. There had to be a way to save everyone from Lavos... even mother. "Perhaps... I ought to take a more firm approach." She looks to Robo. "I can only hope we are not already doomed. But... perhaps if you have the means to do so, perhaps you could find a way to give us the advantage. Surely, you must be familiar with... blacksmithing of your time." She looks over to her brother. "We need a strong leader..." she says finally to him... "I am... glad to have your resolve... I fear I would be lost without it." she says, trying to reassure Magus of her support... to whatever end.

Robo would look moderately shocked at Magus as he spoke, but as it is hard for the metal being to express such emotion, it goes unknown to either of them. As for blacksmithing... "I can create weapons and other things of use given the proper materials, but I am by no means specialized in doing this." he says, as his optical orbs, what amount to his eyes, continue to glow faintly in this room.

"Do not look to me as your strength. You have it within yourself," Magus states to Schala as he looks back towards the hidden door behind the pipes. "The fact is, the time is coming fast. I have all ready spoken to Glenn... the Glenn that is /worth/ his title... to assemble his corps of nights and start bringing them here. We will have to set up a base of operations. This place has the ability to be that base. The safe-haven for everyone to use. I am no longer worried about solidarity. What we need now is community, or we will never overcome the menace of Lavos again."

Schala ponders somewhat about Glenn and his status. "I hope Glenn will find his place there." she has become increasingly worried about Glenn and his feelings for her. It is becoming more and more clear that she is a distraction to him on the battle field. Of course, this would require much thought, but... she felt that, as things with Lavos drew closer, the time to indulge in little girl fantasies will come to an end as well. Taking out the sword she was given... she realized that... with her power, she would be needed as a guardian. In much the same way as the Gurus themselves, or even her brother, were forced to become what they are, she must start taking responsibility for her potential. Smiling somewhat... she was actually rather thankful she has this chance to make things right... this time, she would be ready. "If we can have it... I would suggest building an underground. I spent much time with the Earthbound... and in the face of harsh winters and destructive weather, they spent much time in caves and below-ground huts. I believe that we could fashion something similar." She looks to Robo again. "And... again, perhaps with your expertise in blacksmithing, we could... possibly build something very strong." she tilts her head to the side. "I... do not know much of your kind, but... I assume from what I have been told, you are very good with calculation."

"As said before, I am not specialized in such skills, but if it is required I will do whatever I can." Robo says, as he stands rather still. He's good at looking like a metallic statue. He is here to assist. It is what robots are meant for. Helping living beings. Any other use is...improper. "My kind, as you call them, are indeed skilled with calculation."

"Consider it done. We shall see to it immediately, sister," Magus says to Schala before heading back into the heart of the cathedral.
