|Feeling sorry for yourself|
You find yourself standing in around a small fountain, surrounded by a small concrete courtyard with paths leading off in each of the compass directions. Spaced around the fountain evenly are benches and lamps, nothing really too elaborate. To the North kids can be heard playing on the playground equipment. A cool breeze flows in from the east, and the trees to the west provide plenty of shade. Not a bad place to visit really.
Johnny perches atop the fountain in the center of the park like an angry gargoyle. He crouches down, with one hand balancing him between his feet. His free hand twirls his dagger as he scans over the empty park in the dark. He's been coming here a lot as of late, especially when the girl's words seem to echo in his mind the loudest. "..that's what this is about, aint it?" He hears these words and bites his lip. So many things he has to do, and this is all he can think about...
Devi appers from behind a tree, garbed in normal Devi fashion, with her black cargo pants, matching tank top, and her boots. Her eyes gleam red with her mazoku power, hiding any emotion under the color. She stands there, having come down from her asteral perch, trying to figure out how to approch her friend, having seen the fight with Tabby. She's not to sad that Tabby has left, partner or not, she didn't care for Tabby that much. That's not saying much, considering that she doesn't care for anyone, aside from Nny, that much anymore. It was time for her to come down anyway, she guesses. "Hey Johnny." It feels like everything has changed, and part of her isn't coping to well with it at all.
Johnny doesn't acknowlege her for a good minute, then destractedly he turns his head towards the direction the voice came from, blinks, and resumes his scan of the park. "...Devi." Maybe he's become antisocial in his self imposed banishment from the general public, or perhaps he just isn't all there at the moment. After another minute he pushes himself forwards and drops to the ground with a silent >THUNK<. Seemingly unphased he rises to his feet and turns towards her. "...can I help you?"
Devi shrugs, having hoped for a bit more of a welcoming, but Johnny's always seemed this way when he was upset. She looks up at the clear sky, letting the sunshine wash over her, trying desprately to feel human again, even for a second. "No. But I thought I'd come down here and see if you were ok. Ya know, try and fill my role of friend, if you still call me such." Her tone is empty, and calm, knowing that Nny might snap at the smallest thing like that. She looks at him, her head tilted as something, not quite pity, rushes through her head.
Johnny's eyes wince shut. Not from the comment of course, but from the blinding sunlight that came literally out of nowhere. Under his breath he mutters to himself, "...I hate this place..." Then he turns his attention back to Devi, "I don't know how I feel... but I'm not going to attack you. Does that count?" He covers his eyes with his free hand to shield the sunlight from getting in his face and sheaths his dagger at the same time. "I'm angry. I'm pissed off. I feel betrayed, lied to. I'd probably just start walking and disappear if I could just turn a blind eye to the fact that there's a number of fuckers in this town who I can't just ignore anymore." Growling slightly he turns towards the sky and growls as if to will it to become dark again. "They fucked with me. They got in my head and fucked with me!! I won't let them do that to me again! Not after everything's thats happened..."
Behold the joys of Twisted's weather. Never know what's gonna happen. Devi doesn't really care if Johnny does attack her. After such a big period of general inactivity, it might be a change. But considering how powerful he is, she's not terribly keen on fighting him. Even moreso when he's pissed. "I don't blame you." She waits for his wrath upon her still though, considering she helped Caliga shutdown part of Johnny's mind. She thought she was helping though, Nny having turned into the abomination and all. "Anything I can do to help?" She hasn't had much reason to come and bug anyone, and was rather reluctent to come down even for Nny's sake. She shoves her hands in her pockets, figuring that she won't be able to help, but has to offer anyway.
Johnny stares at the water in the distance as Devi speaks. To her question he raises an eyebrow and looks back. "Help? They erased my memories, left me roaming the streets under a lie that you did nothing to help me realise. I think I lost my only chance of finding Samantha, possibly killing her and having everything I cared about, including parts of my own mind locked inside that fucking shadow clone, Tabitha. You want to help? Help me figure out what the fuck happened. Help me find that jackass Caliga and do to him what he did to me." As he speaks his eyes become more and more distant as the memories of his 'chat' with Tabby come back into his mind. Wincing, he holds his head and grumbles, "...and for god sake, shut up the voices in my head... THAT's how you can help." Gee, not asking for much is he?
Devi lowers her eyes, not ashamed. "I'm not going to apologize for what I did." She bites her lower lip for a second, knowing that she may not be to much help with Caliga, as she still owes him for the yellow crystal, and the ticket to Sun's soul. She can't quiet his voices. "But I'll help you find Caliga, as best I can. As for what happened, you got pushed over the edge, and your power started consuming you. Granted, Caliga pushed it, then used his crytals to shutdown your mind." She shrugs, not knowing what else to say.
Johnny narrows his eyes and looks away, turning his back to Devi to avoid looking at her expression. "It was deliberate. He tried to use me as a servant and then locked me down when I got out of control. If there's one fucking thing in this world I won't stand it's being used as a fucking puppet for someone else... AGAIN." He finally turns, lost in his rant again. "I'm not exactly a fucking role model. I know I do horrible things, I know I enjoy them. But that doesn't mean I want to have someone hold my leash and choose for me which horrible things I do! I won't... I CAN'T take this anymore!" Slowly it dawns on him that he's getting nowhere by ranting like this. Letting out a deep sigh he shoves his hands into his own pockets. "I don't need help finding him. I have to sort my own fucked up thoughts first." For a brief moment his temper fades and his old self returns, "...y'know? I miss how things used to be. Things where so much simpler when you worked in your book store and we'd share a bit of conversation while I picked up artbooks and instructions on building torture devices on Sundays... I wish I could shut all this out and go get some coffee. You, me, a city full of assholes and a day spent mocking them. Sounds like fun, don't it?"
Devi chuckles softly, having thought that enough on her own, and finding it kind of ironic that Nny should say the same thing. "Yeah, it was. I had Tenna, and all I had to worry about was drawing and Sickness." She tilts her head back, letting out a small sigh. "Too much has changed." Devi feels like she's lost touch with herself the past few months. "I'm not so sure I could go back to that though. To much has happened." Yeah, they both used to be normal people, as normal as they could be considering their mindsets. And now their both powerful beings. Nny's immortal, and Devi might as well be. She rolls her wrist, listening to it pop. "Oh well, not much we can do about it now, I suppose."
Johnny shrugs, "I'll make a deal with ya. I don't want to do this anymore. I wanna see Caliga wounded. I want to see him drooling on himself, even temporarily, so he knows what it's like to fuck with someone's mind. Hell, maybe we can sick the Doughboys on him." That forces a smirk, "Anyways, when it's all said and done I'm quiting. I'll buy you that cup of coffee and maybe we can see what happens from there? Fuck, maybe there's somewhere we can go hide where people don't back away when we walk into a room because they know us too well." Nny shrugs again, "It's possible."
Devi nods. "That sounds good. Caliga is too arrogent for my tastes, but he does have his purposes." Thinking of the Doughboys all over Caliga does make Devi smile though. The thought of the Doughboys on any deserving soul makes her smile though, knowing just how crazy they can make you. "I don't see how you're quitting though. You can't really quit being what you are. But coffee does sound like a good plan." She doesn't mention that she doesn't think that there is a place where people won't cringe a little at seeing or feelin' her or Nny around. Perhaps he is right though. Maybe it is possible.
Johnny smiles, geniuienly. "Good." The smile fades as he looks around expectantly. A dark cloud passes over.... and keeps on going. The maniac frowns. "I'm going to go. I need to figure out how to shut things off so I can accomplish my goals. Tell ya what? I come here around the same time every other day. If you need me for somethin' wait for me here. I told ya, your safe. At least till someone else fucks with my mind again..." He forces a smile, but it's obvious he's serious. What a horrible thing to be honest about.
Devi says, "I'm always around. And I'm not to worried about being safe with you Nny." She could take him........ or at least hold her own until she could escape. Ode to the joys of Mazuko power. "See ya later then." She steps back into the trees, vanishing back to her perch, feeling a tad better, and honestly eager to see what's going to happen with this.
Johnny watches her vanish and sighs heavily. "I wonder how much longer it will be? ...I'm tired of lying to everyone." Taking out his dagger he begins to twirl it again. "I wonder what it'd take to kill me at this point..." His words hang in the air as he walks off, vanishing into the shadows once again.
