The Usual Restaurant

You walk into a very large restaurant with high ceilings that leave the rafters exposed. Fluroescent lamps hang from the ceiling, adding light to the place and tables. Windows adorn the sides of the place, looking out onto the chaos that is Twisted. On some of the walls are paintings, photographs, and some holograms of different B-movies, and a number of people who tend to visit the UR as they're singing karaoke. The hardwood bar rests at the back of the place, it's surface polished and shiny and all together spotless (most of the time). Behind the bar are various beverages that are servered and a giant mirror. There seems to be an inordant amount of different drinks. A large stage rests in one of the corners of the restaurant, with an amazing sound system and a few microphones strung about it. Multiple round wood tables are in the room, and a swing door leads into the kitchen. Another door leads to the dance club, and another to the gym. And of course, there's and exit outside. A large fireplace rests in one of the walls, with a beautiful stone chimney that flows up and out. A long spiral staircase rests near the entrance to the kitchen, leading to a second floor balcony that overlooks the UR itself. The lights up there are a bit dimmer than those down below.

Kyoko is sitting at the bar, drinking a cup of tea peacefully, otherwise doing nothing of note. She exudes an aura of calm in the silence, still unsure exactly where she is. The prinnies, strangely enough, seem to be ignoring her, or at the very least keeping their distance.

Devi drops down from the rafters above Kyoko, a noose about her neck and her tounge stuck out comically. She kicks her legs a few times, and makes a gagging sound.

Kyoko gives an alarmed gasp, and gets to her feet, scrambling up onto the bartop. She grabs Devi by the feet, pushing her up, so she can breath despite the noose!

Devi vanishes into thin air, the rope left hanging, and probably leaving Kyoko very confused. Reappering next to her on a barstool, Devi reclines on the counter, her legs crossed and bobbing. "So, I ain't seen you around before. Where you come from?" Taking on a bad bosten accent probably isn't helping.

Kyoko blinks as the body shes holding up suddenly vanishes, but manages to regain her balance with unusual ease. She turns to peer confusedly at Devi "You... don't remember? You and another stranger saved me. I don't remember much frmo the haze...". She climbs down off the bar, retaking her seat "At least, i think it was you. I vaguely remember seeing a visage similar to yourself... ". She takes another sip of Tea "I don't entirely remember where i'm from. My memory.. seems... fractured". She looks to Devi "My name is Kyoko. You are?"

Devi grins at the look on Kyoko's face, but then grimaces harshly at the mention of her double. Her voice lowers, "That was not me." Each word emphisised. Her humor has wilted in light of this. "What else do you remember about... the other me?"

Kyoko shakes her head "i was wounded... bleeding profously. I don't remember anything after seeing you and another women assisting me before passing out. I woke up here, alone."

Devi asks, "Wasn't me." She frowns then decides to set it aside. "Anyway.." Devi poofs into a long kimono, and trys to cheer up again. "When'd you get here?"

Kyoko just stares at Devi as she suddenly changes clothes "How.... how did you...". Between that and the noose prank, she's confused beyond belief. Just what is going on?

Devi cackles. "No no no, you wanna see a trick?" Devi grins, and shifts turning into the girl 'Allison'. Spinning, she giggles." How'd ya like that?!" She poofs only to reapper on sitting on the counter.

Kyoko stares in astonishment. Has never seen anything like that occur before... "How...."

Devi says, "MAGIC!" Devi giggles and claps her hands. She jumps up and starts walking around on the celining, her hands behind her back, and her clothes and hair acting as if she wasn't upside down. Stopping, she grins, and whips out a guitar. "BY THIS AXE, I RULE!" The guitar vanishes.

Kyoko continues to stare like Devis grown a third head *which she might do for an encore, who knows*. The axe reference, however, is lost on her. "What was that?"

Devi kinda loses it here at this point, and vents frustrations. Flowers start growing and wilting in the glasses, and the barstools start turning into toadstools. The Booths fill with illusonary men, who look exactly like John Wilkes Booth, and the Caterpiller with the hooka from Alice in Wonderland appers in the middle of the place, relaxed and not noticing. Devi shifts back into her own form, and plops down onto the Bar. Squating, she bends far enough to put her knees against her shoulderblades and grins crookedly at Kyoko. "Welcome to Twisted."

Kyoko stares in confusion and a bit of wonder, and lots of fear, as Devi does all this. Many of the images she doesnt recognize, but the idea of one being doing all this at once, as if it's nothing, particularly when she's never seen such things before, is like dropping someone from midievil times in a room full of computers: overload. At Devis crooked smile, she screams, and is up, across the room, and against a wall, near the corner, watching with terrified eyes.

Devi starts laughing at Kyoko's misfourtune. All the bad things go away and the UR returns to it's normal look. One of the scutters brings Devi a can of Poop Cola, and Kyoko a glass of water. In between sips, Devi looks over to Kyoko. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Ya know, unless you try and ruin plans I have layed. But that's ok. I'm harmless." She grins. "Don't you ever read? Think of this as... As a magic kingdom full of wonders, and dangers! I bet if you look hard enough you could find a dragon! Well, we only have 1 now, but still." Devi fingers the crystal around her neck and smiles.

Kyoko is at a complete loss for words at all this new stimuli. At Devi's assurance, she calms down.... slightly. She takes the glass of water tentitivly, looking from it, back to Devi "Dragon? What manner of place... is this? I only remember formless wastes.... claws... pain. Then it all goes dark....".

Devi is half tempted to pull out a pamplet. The sights of Twisted! Ta-Da! "This is a nexus. A place where worlds meet. A lot of diffrent people come here. I used to be human, and now look at me!"

Kyoko gives an uncertain look at this "You... USED to be human?". The look of fear comes back to her eyes "Is everyone here like this?"

Devi says, "I USED to be human. There are a few normal people around, or so I'm told." Devi shrugs. "I usually only pay attention to those who stand in my way, but every now and then I come to greet the newcomers!"

Kyoko slowly approaches the barstools, not taking her worried glance from Devi, lest the Oni *in her mind* do something "If your not human anymore.... what are you?"

Devi says, "I am... MEGATRON!!" She throws her head back and laughs. "I was changed by Oblivion, my Master, into, " She poofs up like Genie in Aladdin," AN ALL POWERFUL BEING! Or a Mazuko.." She grins impishly. If Kyoko hasn't figured it out yet, Devi's kinda crazy and kinda into throwing people for a loop.

Kyoko manages not to flinch more than slightly as Devi gets real huge, or shouts. She sits back down, taking a sip of her now-cold tea. She's no expert on this place or what differences might exist in its occupants mindsets. For all she knows, Devi is normal as things go here. The idea, however, HAS crossed her mind, but she neither acts on it nor speaks it aloud. "So... what's an all-powerful being doing in a place like this?".

Devi says, "Well, what are you doing here? Do you know?" Devi eyes her, a challenging glint in her eye. Underneth it all, the debator is still there.

Kyoko thinks for a moment, pausing visibly, then shakes her head "No.... how i even got here, i don't know.... although i still do not understand what a powerful being would be doing in an ordinary restraunt like this, and not out doing something more important."

Devi says, "Well, that answers your question then. and powerful or not, I enjoy pretending to be normal. It helps the circulation!" She suddenly changes into a nurses outfit, and grins.

Kyoko is still uncertain about this person.... and no matter how often Devi changes her clothes like that, a lifetime of normality, sometimes quite harsh, has taught her such things shouldn't be able to be possible. "Ironic, that.... most who are normal wish for power, while one with power is seeking commonality."

Devi says, "Of course! Normal people don't know what their asking for! Didn't you know that? Silly little human." She says this last bit with something close to affection. "The normies just want to feel special, and there's nothing special about feeling special!"

Kyoko wonders aloud "If you know this, why then did you cease to be human and become something more?"

Devi says, "Gods, I didn't know it then! If I had, I wouldn't have... well. No, I would have. I found someone to hate!" She says this gleefully, as though it were normal, or at least understandable. "havn't you ever had a Villan?"

Kyoko gets a somewhat somber expression, Devi, being what she is, would sense quite a bit of sadness wafting off as her memory, in a rare moment as of late, kicks in, and she remembers something she wishes she couldn't.... "Everyone encounters the various shades of grey, as well as the black and white, in their time. I am no different". She absently sips at her cold tea...

Devi pauses to look deeply touched, and even manages to get a tear in her eye. "That's so... so.. moving." She nods, as though to confirm it, the grin tugging at the courners of her mouth, threating to ruin the moment.. Aw screw it, she does, and she grins.

Kyoko is too busy exploring the returning memory, deeply enough that she doesn't catch Devis grin. Devi is getting a serious meal outta this one.

Devi yawns and streaches. "I need to go, but if your still around when I get back, we'll have some more of this 'heart to heart' thing." She waves her hand dismissivly and changes into a kitten, then a worm, then nothingness.

Kyoko looks over just as Devi does the whole 'kitten, worm, nothing', and stares at the place she had been sitting. What an odd women.... creature.... whatever she was.
