You walk into a very large restaurant with high ceilings that leave the rafters exposed. Fluorescent lamps hang from the ceiling, adding light to the place and tables. Windows adorn the sides of the place, looking out onto the chaos that is Twisted. On some of the walls are paintings, photographs, and some holograms of different B-movies, and a number of people who tend to visit the UR as they're singing karaoke. The hardwood bar rests at the back of the place, it's surface polished and shiny and all together spotless (most of the time). Behind the bar are various beverages that are served and a giant mirror. There seems to be an inordinate amount of different drinks. A large stage rests in one of the corners of the restaurant, with an amazing sound system and a few microphones strung about it. Multiple round wood tables are in the room, and a swing door leads into the kitchen. Another door leads to the dance club, and another to the gym. And of course, there's an exit to the outside. A large fireplace rests in one of the walls, with a beautiful stone chimney that flows up and out. A long spiral staircase rests near the entrance to the kitchen, leading to a second floor balcony that overlooks the UR itself. The lights up there are a bit dimmer than those down below.
Xue is in a booth off to the side, head lolling a bit, trying to stay awake. She is ENORMOUSLY tired after the recent events, it would seem. Layers of ice and frost coat her body in areas, seemingly at random, and the temperature in an area 15 feet around her is much lower than the rest of the room
Felina wanders into the main room of the restaurant, the young feline woman looking around quietly, until she notices the distinct cold.. This attracts her natural curiosity, ans she approaches the booth, stopping when she sees Xue.. "Miss Xue?? are you alright???"
Xues gaze slowly looks up to Felina, and she nods "Yes. Just VERY tired. Glad to see you survived. Have any problems, or dicoveries, since i last saw you?"
Felina hmms.. "Well... I have discovered how to gather magic for myself.. but.. well.. Drinking it when I do.. It's not ideal.. it affects me differently."
Xue peers curiously "How so.... ?".
Felina holds her arm out, her fur looks like fine metallic crystals.. "Well.. It has changed my fur somewhat.. and well.... it can affect my short term memory.."
Xue looks curiously, then raises an eyebrow "Affect your memory how..... and how and/or where are you finding this 'magic' your feeding on?"
Felina hrms.. "It's.. like a fog fills my head.. And.. I have been gathering it from the very air.. I can show you how..." she clicks her fingers, forming a tumbler in front of her, which slowly starts to fill with glowing liquid mana..
Xue pulls a small crystal tincture out of her bag, pops the top on it, and pours the liquid mana into it, stopping the top once full "Once i recover, ill analyze it. What your describing sounds like an addiction reaction of some kind.... better to not do that until ive verified its safety, if possible. If that isnt possible, do it only when needed."
Felina nods faintly.. "Ok.. I'll not do it any more than I have to.. But.. I do need to absorb magic still... You saw what happened when I didn't have it.. And it's only happened like that when I have drunk the magic as a liquid.."
Xue nods "Keep doing so as you can, but try to avoid that unless absolutely no other choice, at least until i can check it out. If it starts to get to be dire straights, though, dont hesitate. Simply dont indulge it otherwise. Something about how its forming may not be quite in line with how your body is designed to process it, which could be what is causeing unexpected reactions". A bit of the ice on the back of her left hand melts enough to slide off, revealing slightly reddish-pink skin compared to her slightly darker skin tone. She glances at it, and smirks slightly, before looking up "Anything other things youve found since then?"
Felina shakes her head, "Not really.. Though I have noticed I can more readily perceive the flow of magic around me for some reason.. Though it's pretty out of whack here."
Xue nods "Its partially Twisted, partially the UR itself, and partially a result of all the events that occured recently. Give it awhile. Itll eventually return to some semblence of normal. As for sensitivity, it could be a sideeffect of the mana. It could be that your just using more, and growing in your perception. The more you use it, the stronger your connection to it will become, potentially. Ill have to run some tests on you to see just what your body does with regard to certain things. It may grow like a living being, and react accordingly, or it may be somewhat static in some respects."
Felina nods, and she smiles, "Ok. Um.. aren't you cold with that ice on you?"
Xue smirks, with a snicker "My speciality is cryomancy. A cold, wintery day is as comfortable for me as a warm sunny one is for most everyone else. I can also heal me in large enough amounts. Theres a trick to it. Get far enough, and i may teach you how in a few years".
Felina smiles, "Ok. It certainly sounds interesting enough.. " She then closes her eyes, and hmms, "I was thinking about the things Mr. Caliga was saying I would need to know.. changing people by controlling their soul.. Isn't that.. you know.. Wrong?"
Xue nods, frowning "It is indeed. Its also something no one SHOULD do. Its one thing to manipulate with words. Its another to directly reshape a soul to how one wants it. Theres no hell deep enough or hot enough for those that do that intentionally and repeatedly, in my opinion. I dont care WHAT the reason."
Felina nods.. "I don't WANT to know how to do that then.. Is.. mr. Caliga a bad person then?"
Xue raises an eyebrow "Well, you dont need to worry. *I* have no intention of teaching you how, aside from the fact i know little of how its actually done. My knowledge is evocation, divination, abjuration, and transmutation, with a little illusion. Necromancy is out of my league. Even if i DID know, i wouldnt anyway". She shrugs "I dont know enough about him to be able to say, nor is it really my place or role to judge someone as being one thing or another. I believe his intentions are good, but personally i do NOT approve of his methods."
Felina nods.. "Ok." looking at the tumbler she created, she hmms, "Let's see if this works.. " tapping the edge of it, she transmutes the tumbler into wood.
Xue watches, a few flakes of ice dripping off every now and then "How many different materials can you transform it into presently?"
Felina hmms, "A few.. Wood.. Steel.. a few different kinds of stone..."
Xue asks, "Do you know the abilities and details of those substances?"
Felina hmms, "Not too well, no.. Metal conducts heat and electricity.. for the most part, stone generally doesn't..."
Xue nods "see what information you can find in the library about different materials known to come through Twisted, and their properties. Sometimes changing one thing to another isnt enough, and at times making something into something specific is the required action. Mithril, for example, is very tough, much more than normal metal, but very light in comparison. Orihalcom tends to be the qualities of normal metal in weight and strength, but very resistant to magic."
Felina hmms, "I see.. " she then touches the tumbler again, and it transmutes once more, this time it appears to be a glowing crystal.. and it has emptied.. she has turned the tumbler itself into crystalline magical energy.
Xue raises an eyebrow "The problem with that substance is that while a VERY effective magical focus...." she reaches over "It tends to be very...." she flicks it. Hard. Causing it to break into pieces "Fragile".
Felina nods, and watches as the peices however after a couple of seconds flow back together.. and then she grins.. "I guess... " touching it again, it stops glowing, turning a deep, translucent scarlet.. Garnet.. or perhaps ruby. "I like this substance, it's pretty.£"
Xue nods "Gemstones tend to be very soft, despite being pretty. Diamonds are the one exception i know. Their VERY hard, and can be VERY sharp."
Felina smiles, "Take a closer look.. " the tumbler is in fact only slightly less hard than Diamond, it is Red Sapphire... Otherwise known as Ruby, one of the hardest natural substances on the planet.. "In my experience many gems are quite hard....
Xue nods "Many are, but just make sure you know which are and which arent before creating them to block an attack. If its a soft gemstone, your in trouble". She winks
Felina chuckles, and she nods, "True, true... I prefer to use Barrier spells to protect myself though.. generally safer than transmutation... Or conjuring.."
Xue says, "There are other uses for transmutation, but i tend to stick to them only when i want a specific effect, or need a specific material. Abjuration is another story entirely...."
Felina nods, and she hmms, picking up the ruby cup, and she starts to change it, pulling the ruby in, until it is perhaps 2 inches across, and quite flat, yet still a beautiful, deep crimson.. and forming a band in which it is set, formed from what looks like silver.
Xue watches impassivly "How much of your 'reserves' are used when you do that? Does one substance cause more drain to produce than another?"
Felina hmms, and she shakes her head, "I haven't really noticed any drain.. but then, I have been using more of the ambient magic to do it.."
Xue asks, "Ambient? You mean drawing it from the environment at the time of using, or the substance you were drinking?"
Felina says, "the magic in the environment... Which is also what I was gathering into the substance I had been drinking..."
Xue nods, standing "Ill go take a look at that stuff, and see what i can find out. Further answers will more than likely only come once that is done". She slowly walks to the back, leaving a trail of slowly-melting ice on the floor as she goes.
Felina smiles, and she puts the bracelet she just made on her wrist, "Okay Xue.. I will keep on practicing with my magic.. You take care, ok?" Then she looks about, before heading back up the stairs to her room.
