The Twisted Street(#1833R)

Twisted Street reaches out in opposite directions and if you look hard enough you'll see the dust from the Wastelands raging. While some may feel it strange, Twisted Street is well kept, the holes in the road freshly paved, the buildings clean and free of debris and graffiti. The wind sweeps softly, dark gray clouds marring a clear sky.

The Integra's Arms Apartment and the Usual Restaurant inhabit the street, while other roads encourage exploration. It seems that a quick 5 or 10 minute stroll and you can visit most anywhere in this odd new world.

Datenshi(#173P$W4:t)

With jet black hair barely masking piercing crimson red eyes, this man - if he is one - has the eyes of a natural predator. While his appearance is strikingly handsome, his eyes are like that of a lion on the prowl.. alluring and deadly.

What is immediately obvious of course, is his magestic obsidian wings - slightly taller than his actual form, which is considerable in itself. Their feathers seem to catch the light and gleam like onyx, though if one were to touch them would find them as soft as silk.

His skin is stone white and impossibly smooth, making a striking contrast with his open black shirt, tight fitting pants, gloves and biking boots - however more in a statuesque than anemic way. Each muscle tenses with his movement, lean and taught, adding to his predatory appearance.

There are other barely perceptable telltale signs of something otherly about him, such as the gleam of his sharp canines and the tips of his gloved fingers where normal fingers can transform into claws at a moment's notice. However, these pale compared to the rather sizable black sheathed Katana he carries with red ribbon wrapped around its handle - his Katsunaga, or "Eternal Victory."

Having all this time here to explore has pretty much sparked the wanderer in Lina Inverse here. She's managed to poke up and down nearly every street searching for something, anything, familiar. No joy thus far. On top of that, each time someone tells her about how they got here it's just a repeat of the same story. Weird, but... What does that prove? Some kind of contrived microcosm random people are being placed into? Or bigger than that? Anyway, the young sorceress is clearly lost in thought as she wanders down along the street, head tipped back slightly with her interlaced fingers providing support at the nape of her neck. Ugh. "This is crazy! I should know what's going on by now!" And she takes her frustrations out on a newspaper vending device with a halfhearted kick. Bang!

Just as she's venting her frustrations on that innocent vending machine ("breaking news", geddit?) Datenshi seems to walk around the corner, his gaze instinctively flicking towards the noise. It's a bit hard not to notice, and odd at that - such a small girl doing such sizable damage to a metal object. This causes him to pause for a moment in his tracks, raising a gloved hand to his chin and stroking it idly in thought - as his magnificent wings seem to shift and move during his contemplation. Then, a memory snap - hasn't he seen this girl before? About seven times now, each in a different world? Oh yes, it's Lina Inverse! Her reputation proceeds her, as it often does. The handsome man seems to interject with a deep, amused tone in her direction. "You know, I believe you read the paper to find out what's going on - information can't be beaten out of it." Not that using that method on people doesn't work.

The frustrated tirade only just begins as someone else enters view, though she stops suddenly as a somewhat familiar and creepy feeling assails her. She takes just a moment to compose herself again before turning to confront a... total stranger. Oh. Taking note of the wings and the, at least to her reckoning, gigantic sword she plants her feet and gets all flippant, "Oh, well. Never any good news anyway, right? I gotta say, you're not the strangest person I've ever seen but the wings are a first. So..." Awkward pause. Now what?

Datenshi seems to let the awkward pause continue, these things are only awkward if you actually care about social norms. In lieu of this, the Dark Angel examines Lina from head to bottom in a very abstract way - to check no doubt if she's similar to the Lina of the nexus of Twisted, or if she's an entirely different sort altogether. Of course, for anyone who didn't know any better, they might think he's checking her out. Eventually the silence is broken, "... Ah, the wings again..." Always the women, he had a rather long conversation about this phenomenon with Devi last night, it was most intreguing. "... So, what exactly are you frustrated about - Lina Inverse?" Deliberately using her name as a test, of course. He's looking for information on what's going on himself.

Of course. Leave it to someone this unusual to just go ahead and let poor Lina feel the awkward moment to it's fullest. That is, until the scrutiny starts and she begins to bristle as her minimal patience starts to strain. Finally, the silence is broken, "Yeah, the wings, they-" She stops, realizing her train of thought must have derailed at some point. Luckily, there's no time to dwell when her name unexpectedly comes up. She handles that much rather well, tossing her hair back with the flick of her hand. "Finally! Someone that's heard of me. I guess that's good news unless you're here to try and kill me or something." Of course, this would just be another incident to add to the seemingly endless list. "Anyway, who the heck are you?" She has alot of similarities to the one you met before down to her age and other minutiae - though one would think some or all of those things would have changed over time.

Datenshi seems to stare right into her with his unusual hued eyes, red and nearly luminescent in color. The Dark Angel seems to stride over towards her, and reaches out a gloved hand in an uncharacteristically good faithed gesture. Whether she takes it or not is completely up to her, he'll retract it without insult sooner or later. "Datenshi Wraithshadow, and I try not to kill people until I get to know them." Not unless there's nothing to know, of course. "So, fancy a drink? Standing out here kicking inanimate objects must work up an appetite. And I'd like to meet the woman behind the legend, of course." Wait, didn't he say he likes to kill people he knows? Well, at least he's upfront. There might not be anything behind it. I mean, what part of him looks like a killer? Except all of it.

Lina finds herself sizing up this new entry into the strange and unusual spread of people she's met even as she reaches out to accept the offered hand. "That's really nice of you. Most people or... whatever that want me done in aren't typically very subtle about it and don't really need to be, so... good to know!" The mention of food gives her pause and she leans in conspiratorily, "You buying?" That said, she finds some personal space again and finds herself rather fond of the possibilities for the word legend being associated with her name. At least she has an easy ego to stroke.

Datenshi nods solemly, and seems to brush back his jet black hair with an idle hand once she's shaken it. "I just came in to a sizable amount of money, it should last..." A memory triggers of Lina's eating habits, if they're similar then - "... A sizable meal or two." With the offer accepted, the Dark Angel seems to walk towards the Usual Restauraunt - in this ever changing universe, at least one thing stays oddly consistent no matter what world he ends up on. That restauraunt is *always* there. "Either they mustn't be very good at it, or you're very good at disposing them, since you're still here." He knows which one it is, he's seen - and been on the recieving end - of one of her Dragon Slaves. He idly wonders if he could even survive such a thing now, most likely not.

Lina despite her state of near-gloating her pragmatic self can't help but wonder, "Really, though, how do you know so much about me already? Or have you just been lurking around eavesdropping on conversations I've had around here?" Stupidly powerful spells are all fine for taking care of problems in the here and now but they don't do much good if their wielder doesn't think to ask questions now and then. "Oh, well, those things have managed to resolve themselves!" She manages not to look too sheepish as she tags along, "You know. Lucky I guess?" Not to mention enough plot armor to make your average Mary Sue jealous.

The Usual Restaurant(#1836R)

You walk into a very large restaurant with high ceilings that leave the rafters exposed. Fluroescent lamps hang from the ceiling, adding light to the place and tables. Windows adorn the sides of the place, looking out onto the chaos that is Twisted. On some of the walls are paintings, photographs, and some holograms of different B-movies, and a number of people who tend to visit the UR as they're singing karaoke. The hardwood bar rests at the back of the place, it's surface polished and shiny and all together spotless (most of the time). Behind the bar are various beverages that are servered and a giant mirror. There seems to be an inordant amount of different drinks. A large stage rests in one of the corners of the restaurant, with an amazing sound system and a few microphones strung about it. Multiple round wood tables are in the room, and a swing door leads into the kitchen. Another door leads to the dance club, and another to the gym. And of course, there's and exit outside. A large fireplace rests in one of the walls, with a beautiful stone chimney that flows up and out. A long spiral staircase rests near the entrance to the kitchen, leading to a second floor balcony that overlooks the UR itself. The lights up there are a bit dimmer than those down below.

"I've talked to a lot of people who've known a lot about you, they seemed to be fans." Datenshi twists his words without an ounce of hesitation, so used to changing truths on the fly like this. It's true, Lina is a major fan of herself, so none of it is teeechnically a lie. Not that Datenshi's trying to avoid crossing ethical boundaries, there's just a part of him that doesn't want to do disrespect to a worthy warrior like Lina by blatantly lying. The Dark Angel walks casually in to the Restauraunt as one walks home, pulling out a chair for Lina then one for himself, sitting at a table not too far from the kitchen door and the bar - but not enough to be constantly harassed by traffic and far enough from the door to have ample warning of someone coming to kill them. Old habits die hard "One order of everything you have, double servings. Oh, and some coffee - extra coffee, no sugar and milk - I'll have three." Wow, either he's really hungry or those people knew a /lot/ about Lina. And it seems Datenshi is a coffee junkie. Well, ever since last night. He pulls up another chair with a foot and rests his feet on it, unable to sit without having his feet on *something*. "So how long have you been here? I assume you've freshly arrived." It seems to be the trend.

Lina really can't help but suspect that -something- is up. Nobody offers to buy food or pull out chairs or anything! It always costs -something-. At least, it has. Although most often when she comes to a place like this nobody has time for courtesy - it's all about consume now or not get any later! Once seated, ordered up and waiting she sets about pulling off gloves. "Yeah, I got here... Just a few days ago. I'm still, uh, not really sure how that all happened. At first I thought I was dead. Funny, huh?" The nervous laugh that follows doesn't really indicate that she thinks so. "What about you? I've been trying to put it together and it -seems- like everyone's repeating the 'woke up here' story but not everyone was doing the same thing prior to that."

Datenshi seems to give no attention to the social awkwardness, waiting until the skutters deliver his coffee with uneasy hands and slip the saucers on to the table. He picks one cup up, pushing the others to the side, making way for the food that is delivered. Chicken, beef, salads, roast lamb, deserts, some sort of truffle tower, the meals just keep coming out. "I came by a different route... I *was* dead." Another sip, wow, tension much? Even though his face doesn't reflect an ounce of it. If anyone were to look at his eyes, the word would be contrastingly serene - especially in those red eyes of his. And for anyone that knows Datenshi, this is an odd thing... though he has these moments between the destruction and such. "... I floated in through a crack in the worlds, and pestered someone until they brought me back to life. I've actually been here for a month or so, now." Just to make the recent phenomenon harder to figure out by bucking the trend.

Lina sets upon the food like a thing posessed, though somehow she manages to keep up with the conversation long enough to stop abruptly when you mention -being- dead. "You- What?" Immediately she recollects her last major conflict - with a being that oversaw such things and she visably cringes. "Yeah, uh... Someone who?" Must take something pretty damn serious to make her stop wrecking the spread like she was a moment before. Though it's comforting to know she's well and truly alive the notion of having to deal with that one again is an incredibly unpleasant thought. Almost, ALMOST enough to ruin the appetite.

Datenshi seems to muse Lina not touching her food, "A shinto priest, it seemed he was gifted at seeing the dead. I practically haunted him until he got me a body to inhabit, though taking this form seems to have tied me more permenantly to it than I'd like." He wonders how this Lina feels about necromancy, so he tries to skid over as many details as he can. And at that particular moment, he notices something out of the corner of his eye - a familiar blue flash from one of the windows. Senses heightened, the Dark Angel suddenly sits up and stretches his wings... could it be? It's likely, given what he's seen the last few days. Turning to Lina with a genuinely dissapointed expression, "Ah, we'll have to continue this another time. Enjoy your meal, order all you like." Datenshi takes a sizable wad of cash out of his shirt and drops it on the table, more than enough for more courses. The edges are a little stained, though.
