Devil May Cry

From the inescapable darkness of the entrance to a fairly brightly lit room, your eyes most likely take a moment to adjust. Or not. Who the heck am I to tell you what your eyes are doing? I'm just a stupid narration. The paint scheme in here is a messy, splotchy mix of black and red. It looks as though the original paint was all black and perhaps someone decided to 'art' the place up a tad with some red highlights. It doesn't do much for the decor, to tell you the truth. A single pane of windows lie on either side of a very plain looking brown desk in the middle of the room. Yeah, nothing special about it. It's a desk. Cope. A non-descript black office chair lies just behind that desk. Nothing special about it either. There seems to be a theme here. - Off to one side is what appears to be a secretaries desk, which may or may not be manned. A single workstation with an LCD monitor and attached keyboard seems to be the only thing adorning the desk usually, although whomever is currently playing the role might very well spruce it up. - In the back of the room are a set of stairs that lead upward to another section of the building.

Looking really out of place, a set of metal doors have been added to the wall behind the desk. They don't seem to have any obvious way of opening. Strange...

LATE MORNING DEVIL MAY CRY AGENCY

It's a bright and shiny day in the city of Twisted and you know what that means for the residents of DMC..

Work!!

Or at least, that is what one local Aztec God of War intends to do. Although Huitzilipotchli, better known by his acquaintances as Kotal Kahn, is armed as always with his macauahuitl blade strapped to his back, this time he also seems to have a thick ledger book which he is carrying under his arm. An item that might be even more terrifying than Kotal's monstrous serrated sword to certain people.

Kotal has the good foreshadowing to guess that Dante won't be too keen on talking to him if he sees him walking around with such a thick book, so he's actually made sure to make breakfast first and let the scent of the grits with bacon and eggs he made fill the building. Dante will have to come out and eat at some point! And when he does, that is when Kotal intends to strike!

Dante is easily caught by this trap. This blasted warrior god thing that he hired can actually COOK. Talk about getting fucked right in the weak spot. I mean, pizza and beer are great. GREAT. Dante would make sweet love to those items if it wasn't for what happened that ONE time when t-...I digress. He comes wandering down the stairs, sniffing the air. "Ahhh. The big man is active I see. Well, it's been at least 30 minutes since I last ate anything so...I'm down for a meal!" He slides over to his usual spot and offers Kots a wave, not noticing any offended documentation. "Heeeeey sunshine. n.n"

"Good morning." Kotal Kahn greets Dante quite amicably, making sure to hide the ledger for now. He wouldn't want to scare Dante /too/ quickly, he has to make sure the demon hunter is nice and settled before fully springing his trap. "I'm glad to hear it." Continues the Cuachic and pours Dante a healthy dose of cheese grits, bacon and eggs, sliding it over to the table while putting a bottle of maple syrup and one of hot sauce to the side, giving Dante a varied option of condiments. "How do you like your coffee?" Asks Kotal as he's seen already brewing some water through the POWER OF THE SUN. "Or would you prefer tea?"

Dante rubs his hands together gleefully, grinning widely. "Normally I'd respond with 'beer'. That's my USUAL response, mind ya. I'm down with some caffeine though. I can do black coffee with t-..." he trails off at this point. He looks over the spread in front of him...looks up at Kots who is being just an EXTRA sweetie-pie today...and smiles just a bit. "Well, damn. Ya got me. Ok Kots, what do we need to cover?" Peers back over the spread and sighs a bit, although still grinning. "Eh, worth it."

Kotal chuckles at the hunter's response. No matter he found out, it is too late to back out now. Talk business or no breakfast and all that! "Perceptive as always." Says the War God with a tone that makes it hard to tell if he's being sarcastic or not. He finishes brewing the coffee first and slides it on the table next to the Hunter's plate, putting some milk, cream and sugar cups next to it too just in case Dante wants to add any, before sitting on the opposite side of the table, the thick heavy ledger now open and a quill procured. "Nothing too painful, I promise." And he's good for his word!... maybe.

"Firstly.." He makes a check on his large notebook. "It's been nearly a month since DMC was given charge of TASK. How exactly are we overseeing the consolidation of all our assets?"

Dante seems to be having no issues nomming through the food and doesn't seem to mind the coffee being black, either. He seems quite pleased with everything until the question of business comes up. He peers up at Kots for a moment, mouth still full of food...and offers a bit of a shrug? He goes back to eating, with that. *_*

Kotal hmms and scribbles a few things in the ledger, he seems to be writing everything in Nahuatl on the however improbable chance that Dante dares to venture to peek at what he's writing. Ultimately, Kotal doesn't react too strongly at the shrug and total lack of response for something that feels like its pretty important, maybe he expected "Next is.. when and how will we have access to TASK equipment, such as actually being able to enter their facilities and those identifying bracers they were known to have."

Dante chugs down the rest of his coffee and now...seems to be lacking any further sustenance. A loud, gnarly belch later and he's patting his stomach. "I dunno what I did without ya. WELL worth it. Now, the..." He blinks at that last question. He raises a finger. "THIS one I know the answer to. *I* can already get access into the facility. I just...haven't figure out how to get the REST of you access. At least not from here. The elevator only seems to work for me." He points his thumb over his shoulder. "I'm workin' on it though. I'll have to ask Gegoshi, but I think all the

"Very well.." At the very least Kotal seems to be a tad more pleased with that satisfactory answer. "Serenity and I have been wondering about it. Please, do let us know when this will be available to us. There are a few projects that could benefit from having this equipment." The Aztec scribbles more things in the ledger, at greater length this time in comparison to Dante's prior short answer. "The next question is actually regarding Gegoshi. How will I or any of us be able to speak with her? Or are you the only one that has clearance to receive her services?"

Dante huhs. He grins widely, making 'elbow nudge' motions although he's in no position to actually do it. "You said 'receive her services'. Hell, I've been trying to figure out how to do THAT for some time now. She seems quite attached to Diablo, though." He blinks once, laughing it off, rubbing the back of his head. "So, short answer there is 'I have no idea'. I can ask her the next time I access her for anything, if that'd help?"

Rather uncharacteristically of Kotal, the Aztec chuckles in response to Dante's quip about receiving Gegoshi's services. "I was wondering if you'd get that." Seems Kotal actually phrased it that way on purpose! That is one way to keep Dante focused on what they're talking about. Does Kotal really know Dante this well? Or maybe its just that the Hunter can be easily manipulated like that? Maybe it's both. "That actually does help." Kotal nods when Dante offers to ask her about how to get in contact with the AI and he goes to scribble some more things in his oversized notebook. "Let me know what she says." A few more scribbles and then he's slides the quill down a page. "Those were all the pressing matters I had, but since I have your attention now I might as well ask you."

"Do you know anything important about the following individuals; Nancy Dark, Yoiko Hax and Datenshi Wraithshadow."

Dante blinks, peering at Kots with an odd sort of look. He shrugs once again, as he's rather prone to doing it would seem. "I dunno any of those names. Sorry. Where did you hear those names anyway? Maybe we could ask Gegoshi about em. She has records of ALMOST everyone and anyone who's passed through Twisted. As I understand it at least. c.c"

There's a moment after Dante's response where Kotal Kahn is gripping his quill a bit too tightly, what clearly can be seen for anger flashes briefly over his golden eyes. That is naught but a very fleeting moment though, and he seems calm soon after, ever his composed self. "I see." He scribbles in his ledger. "That is not an answer I expected."

Now it's his turn to answer some questions though and he looks up from his notes to stare at the demon hunter. "The council member known as Caliga mentioned them to me. Do you know of him?" Kotal Kahn spares Dante that whole debacle of Caliga forcing all of his memories on the Aztec, as Kotal feels Dante would probably be better off not getting involved in squabbles between him and what's left of the council. "I was assured that these are individuals of great importance and it would be wise to know more about these people. As you suspect, my next step will be to ask Gegoshi herself when she becomes available to us." No sign of Kotal meaning to say that innuendo, its very hard to tell if he's being sarcastic or not since he always looks so serious.

Dante notices Kots little 'moment' there. He narrows his eyes ever so slightly but...he trusts the big dood. He shrugs it off and assesses the rest of the conversation. "I've heard about em, yeah. Nothing much on my side, anyway. Never met the guy that I can recall. Gegs should have the info we want, in any case...or at LEAST I could ask Diablo about it. He's BOUND to know who they are."

Kotal leans back on his chair and crosses his arms, seemingly finished writing now. He tightens his lips at the mention of Diablo and looks thoughtful for a moment before speaking again. "I am certain he does." Which begs the question, why hasn't he asked him already? "But I will tell you what I told Serenity about that.."

"I am always very reluctant about asking the Devil for any favors. I've found that one way or another.. you always end up indebted to him." He taps the table with his fingers. "No matter, I am certain this will all become clear once we can see Gegoshi's records." "At any rate, that is all I had to say for now." See? Totally painless.. for the most part. "What of you, Dante? Any situations we should know about? Are there any tasks you might need help with?"

Dante hehs. He nods, offering a thumbs up. "I hear ya, big man. I get what you're sayin'. Just remember, *A* devil. I never thought I'd hear myself say this shit, but semantics matter. I won't say you're wrong though. Long as our objectives line up, we should be good. That's what I'm goin' with." He then slumps back in his seat. "Nothin' on my side just yet, Kots. Oh...except, do ya know Tabs? If ya see here running around near the Wasteland...lemme know, huh? I've got to make sure she isn't out there alone."

Kotal smirks, "Oh, I understand perfectly. Diablo has in fact helped me quite a lot clearing up a few things and he has also earned my respect as a leader. Nonetheless, he is /a/ devil as you said and I would be remiss to put him in any position of power over me." The Aztec gives Dante a strange look. "He might start asking me for favors in return that I could not refuse."

With that said, Kotal arches an eyebrow and shifts on his seat. "Who is this Tabs and why would she venture near the Wastelands by herself?" Dante might notice that Kotal has started writing in his ledger again.

Dante tilts his head a bit at that first bit of propaganda. He laughs a little. "Ok, ok. Fair enough. It's...not like THAT, Kots...but, fair enough." He addresses the second situation: "Her name's...uh...Tabitha, I think. She's a young cat-girl type. She's cool, but TOTALLY whacked off her gourd. *makes little twirly motions with a finger by his head* I don't keep pictures of her around, for...obvious reasons, but she's one of the few cat girls we have around here, strange at THAT may sound. Just lemme know if you see anyone messing around in the wastelands, if ya would."

Although not being familiar with cat-girls perse, Kotal can pretty much guess what kind of features such an individual would have, he's seen a lot of things in Outworld after all. He writes in his notebook a bit more to remember the details. "Understood." He says whilst nodding, "It shall be done." No further questions are asked about Tabitha from him, Kotal doesn't need explanations, just commands. That is how a soldier is trained.

Dante salutes, although from this guy who the hell knows how serious he's being. "Good man." He peers at the documentation Kots has been writing over...and rubs the back of his head. "I think this is probably a stupid question...but do you WANT to keep doing the paper thing or would you like something....more...high tech to keep track of everything with?..."

"These are my personal notes." Kotal responds all too quickly and even turns the notebook around so Dante can see it. Indeed, everything Kotal has been writing is completely in Nahuatl, which for anyone who isn't fluent in the language looks like a bunch of random symbols, not unlike Egyptian hieroglyphics. "I am in the process of learning how to type properly. If you wish me to keep records and reports we can all access, I can certainly do so."

Dante peeers. Tilts head one way. Tilts his head the other way...shrugs. "Huh. I have NO idea what I'm looking at. I'll just take your word on in, big man n.n;" He waves it off and leans back in his seat. "If ya feel more comfortable with it later, go for it. Whatever works." There's that nonchalant command structure again. c.c
