Cemetery Gates

Tall, blackened steel gates draw a line here, barring entrance unless unlocked. Which they usually are. Ivy vines decorate the old, cold metal with dismal color. The gates will swing open without fuss and, oddly, without that typical, horrid scraping noise, if only you push. Are you ready to face the massive graveyard?

Why is Theo at a cemetary? Well, he does need to check out ALL of the facilities here, if he's supposed to be living here. Probably permanently, from the sounds of everything he's heard since he got here. And, well. He's human, so he's going to die one day. So he needs to know what facilities are available to house him.

Eh, maybe he's just feeling particularly gloomy. Realizing that he doesn't have any way home, there's no one here that knows him, and can't go back.

To be fair, though, Theo's not actually in the cemetary at the moment. He's just outside it, looking at the statue outside it. Blond kid, kinda lanky, looks like he might be in his late teens. Amber-colored eyes, aristocratic features, worn clothes.

There's a man walking down the path. Russell looks disoriented, to put it lightly. He's dressed in a flight suit, G-harness, and bomber jacket. He's holding a helmet, of the high-tech variety. He rubs his head, and notices the other man.

"Excuse me, sir... would you happen to know where I AM exactly? I was flying my Valkyrie and then BAM, I'm here-I'm not sure what happened." He rubs at his temple, clearly trying to make sense of it all.

Theo jumps a bit, startled by the voice. It's the one time he didn't have his spiders out, so he hadn't been made aware of the presence of another person here. An oversight on his part that he needs to rectify! But not yet. He doesn't know if this guy can see his Stand or not. It's unlikely, but not impossible, and he doesn't want to freak the poor guy out if he can.

Intead he turns fully to face the newcomer. "Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there," he replies. Clearly, since he jumped! "But, er... well, this place isn't somewhere people 'just wander' into. Well, that's not necessarily true either... but wandering out is a bit of a tall order."

Here Theo pauses and takes a breath. Pause. He takes in the look of this newcomer. High technology. Some kind of pilot -- and he did say something about 'flying a Valkyrie'; some kind of super-sophisticated plane, no doubt. So he can use 'big words' with this one without fear of him not understanding or becoming overwhelmed. Well... not too overwhelmed, anyway.

In the meantime, while Theo's in thought... well, it might look to Russell that he's being checked out! And he is, but not in a romantic way. The blond kid just seems to be trying to decide what to make of Russell. But soon the blond kid finally answers, "Well, this place in particular is a cemetary. The city you're in now, it's referred to as 'Twisted'. And that's not at all an inappropriate name. It seems to be some sort of... joining of several different dimensions. If I had to compare? Something like a... dimensional sink trap. So you might have just come here completely by accident."

"..." Rusell remains silent, seeming to chew on the offered explination, and the image of the man that had offered it. "I.... See.... " He rubs the side of his head, before finally admitting. "I suspect I hit my head harder then I thought..." He looks down at the helmet thoughtfully, as if judging it. "I was in a crash, woke up in a bush, and in a lot of pain.... No wreckage or anything." He seems to shake his head, "I... Have no idea what any of this means. Demensional sink trap? I didn't have any fold quartz on my fighter nor was anywhere near a ship going into fold-... I... Am I dead?"

"Ah, that would explain it," Theo replies with a nod, as Russell mentions having been in a crash. But the first thing he asks is, "Are you all right? Do you need to sit down and rest? I could help you to the clinic if you wanted. It's not what one would call very intuitively placed, unfortunately." He takes a few steps towards Russell, but leaves enough personal space so as not to make it uncomfortable.

As for Russell being dead? Theo blinks. "I... don't believe so. That would mean I am also dead, and I don't remember anything happening to me that would warrant having been made dead. Ah, but I do seem to have injured my manners." He bows politely. "Theodore Rabanne. 'Theo', if you prefer."

"Getting checked out would probably be a good idea-concussion and all that. Helmet only makes sure your skull stays in one piece." Russ notes, looking around and adding, "How'd I even manage to wander into the Cemetary of all places?"

"Ensign Russell Anders, UN Spacy" He offers with a shake, "A pleasure to meet you, Theo."

Theo nods at the mention of Russell getting looked at, and takes a few steps closer. "Are you hurt anywhere besides just that? Any broken bones? Bleeding? Or is it just a goose egg?" he inquires. He sounds a little bit like he's assessing Russell for damage. And indeed, he steps back to look Russell over again. "Though you seem to be standing and walking around well enough, so that's good..."

And he also offers with a smile, "A pleasure to meet you as well. I have to admit, I've never heard of a 'UN Spacey'. I've heard of the UN, but there was nothing 'spacey' about it. Well, not about the organization. The national representatives from it might have been, I'm not sure. I've never met them."

As for being in a cemetary? "That's a mystery. Where one ends up when coming here tends to be rather random, from what I've seen. That said, I haven't been here long myself," he admits.

"Not that I know of." Russ notes, looking over himself again as if just to check as well. He seems entirely satisfied with his once-over until Theo offhandedly remarks that there is no 'spacy' branch of the UN. and the pilot blinks, "Wait... What? Spacy? Space Navy?..." There's clear confusion in his voice, before he removes his bomber jacket and points to the emblem on his shoulder, "This."

Theo blinks, looking to the insignia blankly. Unless the kid's a better actor that he's letting on, he really doesn't seem to recognize it. There's no spark of anything like recognition in his expression. And as if to confirm it? "I'm sorry, I've never seen that emblem before," he admits. "But it's a very stylish one, I must say."

Though... he's also thinking. And after a moment, he reasons slowly, "Well... it's very likely that I am not from your world. You see, where I come from, people from Earth can't even get into low orbit without about a thirty to sixty percent chance -- depending on the weather -- of the whole thing exploding into a fireball on the way up... Because they're essentially strapping about five hundred thousand gallons of liquid fuel so volatile that someone breaking very mild wind in roughly the same post code of it had a good chance of making the whole thing ignite before it even left the launching pad."

So this kid is from an Earth that hasn't discovered space travel yet? Doesn't know about the Zentradi? Not even about aliens at all?!

"... So... mid-20th century version of Earth presumably, where we at least speak the same langage, and the UN hasn't replaced national governments..." His hand on his face, letting out a sigh. "I've either been rendered completely unconsious, died and this is a peculiar form of purgatory, or somehow violated the space-time continuum.... I'd say this is 'just another Tuesday', but it was Wednesday from where I came from."

Theo suddenly snorts a small laugh, but raises a hand to his mouth to stifle it. "Do forgive me," he offers in apology. "Was not aimed at you, Ensign. But there is a welcome center very near the clinic. They have information there, and there's usually someone there manning the counter. Though if you find weird things disturbing, you may wish to prepare yourself. When I visited there, the counter was manned by a human-sized talking starfish wearing pants and a shirt. The latter unbuttoned of course, as his eye was on his chest." Theo doesn't sound like he's kidding. "That said, aside from... well, 'being a human-sized talking starfish', he was mundane enough. I have a way to figure that out."

"I?-What?" Russell says when confronted by what Theo would describe as 'normal'. "... walking, talking starfish...." His head shakes in defeat, giving up trying to make sense of the stranger bits of what Theo is discribing. "I'll.. take your word for it, Theo.... If you wouldn't mind leading me to the medical center, that'd be greaaaat" He adds, "If that's the sort of thing I have to get used to-then I'm in for a world of hurt....."

Mabase Medical Clinic

A large medical clinic that takes up an entire side of the 3rd floor. There are two doors here byond the one that leads to the main hallway. One leads to a surgery room and the other to a recovery room. Next to the surgery room is a red light that is lit when the room is being occupied. Here in the main room is a medical table next to a cart covered with various instruments used in examinations. At the rear of the room is a large desk where the resident doctor does his paperwork and addresses potential patients as they come in. Normally there would be a reception area here but the desk is on backorder so no one has bothered to partition the room yet.

Theo chuckles. "It's not as bad as it sounds," he assures Russell. "It helps if you don't try to overthink, and try to take Lewis Carroll's advice -- learn how to believe impossible things." It might be worthy to note that Theo's still maintaining the respectful polite physical distance. So not to worry, he's not going to suddenly slap Russell on the back like he was some long-lost friend or something. Perhaps Theo understands that Russell needs his space and that some strange teenager slapping him on the back like they were best buddies wouldn't be the best thing for Russell right now.

Anyway, he does lead Russell to the medical center, which is, indeed, rather counterintuitively placed -- there's a very large courthouse that's kind of like a multi-level mall, and the clinic is on the third floor of it.

"This is the sort of location I'd expect to see a dentists' office, not the main clinic for the whole town...." Russell says, seeming amused at least for the moment. "As long as I've avoided permanant brain damage, I'll be good. Though I'll admit that I'll be suprised if I don't considering our conversation."

"There's another clinic, but this is the one that's closer to the welcome center," Theo replies. "We passed it on the first floor of the courthouse, on the way up. I'll take you over there if you want, if you're up to it once you're either cleared to be walking around or admitted." There's a few places to recover in here, not to worry. Though it did seem to indicate that he intends to stick around. Which he realizes is a little weird, perhaps, and ventures meekly, "Er, that is... if you're all right with some extra help? I haven't been here long either, and I'm still rather lost and confused. So I feel like I may know a little of what you're feeling."

Though maybe not quite as keenly. He's pretty sure Russell didn't start spewing metal spiders from his mouth one day, and then panic and run away from home. Though that does make him wonder... does Russell have weird abilities too? He almost wants to find out... but no. Not here and now, when Russell is already feeling confused and likely more than a little upset...

"Well, it would seem you've gotten past the 'questioning your own sanity' part of it at least." Russell quips, saying, "I'm still disoriented and confused about what's going on.... I think I'll be okay after I get checked out. That bush was kind enough to... Mostly... break my fall."

Theo nods. "I'm sure being told something so strange doesn't help on top of the headache and general disorientation," he reasons. "They probably will keep you overnight for observation -- I understand that's the typical procedure for a concussion. And if you're feeling disoriented -- well, before I started talking about dimensional sink traps and human-sized starfish."

He'll lead Russel to the waiting area and then indicate a seat. "Here you go. Sit down carefully -- the bloodflow change might make you dizzy. Or you might have just been running on adrenaline the whole time."

Though something that might go unnoticed by Theo... but maybe not by Russell -- there's a very old magazine on one of the nearby tables. Seems to be some kind of local entertainment magazine. And on the cover is an androgynous-looking fellow with light lavender eyes and dark brown hair that has a very slight reddish tint to it. He's dressed in a dark-colored outfit that doesn't look too terribly feminine... but that can't really be helped, with his build. And of course he's wearing makeup, he always did. His eyes are done up to look smoky.

But there are a few things that date this picture to an approximate time of this person's life -- his hair in the back is long. After THE INCIDENT, he never wore his hair long in the back, only the tails in front of his ears. And that smile -- it's a glamor shot, obviously, but that's an actual smile.

Russell does in fact sit down. He rubs his head some more, because clearly that's going to help the ear-splitting headache or existential dread he's currently experiancing. The face on the magazine makes the man pause. Russell goes pale-white as a ghost in fact. No words exit his mouth as he picks up the magazine and stares into it as if his eyes could stare into the soul of the man on the cover.

"There is one bit of consistancy. I knew this guy. Personally, in fact... but... like... He's clearly younger in this shot-What the fuck is this place?"

Seeing Russell suddenly go pale, Theo grows visibly worried, amber eyes widening in concern. "Oh geez, you got really pale all of a sudden -- are you okay?!" Suddenly his formal, polite tone becomes more conversational -- more like a normal teenager.

He looks at the magazine Russell's picked up, blinking. "I don't know him either. But that's also very old magazine... he might not be here anymore. I understand there was some kind of upheaval that threw things around--"

Unfortunately, further explanation is going to have to wait. Since they're in the medical area, Russell appears to be going pale, and Theo was pretty successful at drawing attention to Russell's sudden pallor, a couple of people are probably going to come and see to the injured pilot. So he'll get in sooner than later!
