Lieutenant Commander Alexander Rebane of the Constitution Class Starship, the USS Vesuvius, idly checks a few notes upon his dataslate as he moves into his office in Sickbay. Even though portions of the ship seem to be caught in some sort of temporal anomaly, his priority is finally reaching out to the missing member of the Away Party that was investigating the newly discovered, and christened, Florpus Hole, in the Hideki Sector.

Eventually Ensign Simmons and TenNapel were able to adjust the sensors without the help of their genius Chief Engineer, and they finally found her. Carefully, Alexander presses a button on his personal terminal, opening a line to the bridge. "Try opening a channel again to Commander Hax across all Federation frequencies, and if she actually answers, divert all communication to my office and restrict access to Alpha Alpha Bravo Clearance.."

Yoiko opens the door to her apartment, or what should have been her apartment. With a mischievous grin she nods her head inside as she holds it for her new friend. "Mind the gap." Needless to say the view inside isn't what anyone would expect from the Integra's Arms Hotel. A foot or two inside the door, the floor gives way to... nothingness. It's literally an empty void with what seems like stars far in the distance. Pieces of furniture float around on the remains of the original floor and there's even a window or two that seem to show the correct view for the Hotel if one where to look outside despite the fact they're rotating around freely. Tubes and wiring come from the chunk of the wall the doorframe is connected to and trail off towards a small ship just to the right of the bit of floor they're standing on. Yoiko doesn't narrate anything, instead watching intently to the Dragoness's reaction. She's waited a long time for someone to see the fruits of her labor.

"Hmm?" Liyara steps inside when Yoiko asks her to mind the gap, and she turns to look back towards Yoiko as she walks, her foot not finding any footing. For a half moment, as she tips, it seems like she's going to fall, but her wings lift her up into air the almost immediately - her instincts are too good for a simple fall. She'd have to be much more distracted.

"Ah..." Liyara turns away from Yoiko to look down around her, and ... blinks twice. "Oh dear." She flutters back over to the stable patch of floor by the entrance, and looks around. "...Your room appears to be a demiplane." Is it always like this? The dragoness takes everything in, and her eyes eventually fall on the spaceship. Nevermind. This looks intentional. And she starts floating over towards said spaceship, provided there is still air.

"I'm impressed. I didn't think anyone other than that stupid iron place had the technology to create one."

The Engineer ponders that a moment, "Iron Place? Medical Mechanica?" She closes the door now that they're inside after glancing around the hallway to make sure no one else caught a peek. "They own the building. I'm a little surprised no one said anything when I started taking the walls out." She takes a second to point at one of the windows and let out a laugh, "That's what gave it away. None of the windows look out on the correct side of the building. I started poking at it and realized there was more than the apartment I first laid eyes on."

She walks along the edge towards the ship, indicating an open door on the side of it. "I think that's why Kenzie left. I think it weirded her out more to see me opening holes into deep space than it did to settle into suddenly being a woman." To that she just gives a nervous smile, "Long story, not really important right now."

Stepping fully into the craft, Yoiko sets the rock she'd been carrying in her off hand down and once more it separates into two halves, showing the glowing crystals inside in all their glory. The woman starts opening cabinets and drawers to take out tools. "Make yourself at home, as it were."

"Ah..." Liyara says, furrowing her brows. "I hadn't come across that information yet, but that makes sense. The rooms are all demiplanes, then? Fascinating." She likes that word, today. The dragon floats over to a window to take a peek and confirm what Yoiko is saying, then moves back to the ship with a tilt of her head.

"...Swapping sex seems fairly difficult for human science. I'm sure the story was interesting." In Toril, changing to a different sex is rather simple; even second circle spells can do it nearly at will. Fourth circle and up can make it happen permanently. Not that Liyara has any of those at her disposal that aren't made of fire.

As the dragoness floats into the craft behind Yoiko, she looks around, and then smiles. "...You did all of this yourself?" The one thing that dragons do all universally appreciate is mortals' craftmanship. If noone makes stuff, dragons don't have anything to take!

The inside of the shuttlecraft seems almost like an apartment by itself. There's at least three doors, the rear one is opened enough to see a bed inside through the light streaming from above. Towards the front is a small cockpit area. The main area where they are standing now is in the middle of the ship and a desk has been placed against one wall as a workbench. It's worth noting that a lot of the less polished equipment still shows signs of where she acquired it, such as purchased computer monitors and televisions from S-Mart of various brands which she's been mounting to the walls and building frames for. Most of it is fairly cleanly installed, however, which only makes the unfinished parts stand out more.

Taking out another phaser-like tool, Yoiko starts removing crystals and arranging them on a platter of sorts. "I couldn't just sit back and do nothing. Once I realized how much room I had available to me in here it occurred to me how great of a workspace it really was. The hard part," The crystals suddenly glow brighter as she clicks something inside the platter on. "....is figuring out how to power everything." She smiles proudly as she holds up the completed... whatever it is. "Well, that and getting it out of here, but I think I've got that worked out too."

"It is quite roomy." Liyara agrees, taking everything in with a warm smile. "I think you've done an excellent job - the locals couldn't manage anything remotely close to this. For that matter, neither could I." Well, she's a teacher, not a space explorer. By vocation anyway. She has done her fair share of interdimensional travel - but interstellar isn't very common. She's only been to another sphere the one time.

A small shudder runs through Liyara. Bad memories. "...If you just need to get it out of here, I could probably help with that. But it sounds like you have it under control." She isn't making eye contact with Yoiko until after that, at which point she cocks her head to one side and puts a hand on her hip. "...I must be honest, I don't really see how this is a ship. Even our starships still resemble boats." That they do.

The Trill woman tries to bite back a bit of laughter at the statement about boats. "Well, in some cultures they still do, but when you're dealing with space travel you don't really need to worry about things like buoyancy and aerodynamics. Some of our ships are very elegant. The Vesuvius especially. Hopefully this works and I can show her to you myself." She steps up to the cockpit area and disconnects a section of paneling, pulling out tubes and equipment which she starts to affix to the top of the, well, let's just call it a container of crystals as that's what it's clearly going to be before she's done. After a moment she leans over through the doorway, "I offered you food, didn't I?" The lights in the shuttle brighten slightly as she connects the last few leads. "As excited as I am to test this, do you want to try and grab a bite to eat first? Space has waited this long..." What she doesn't notice is that behind her, on the main console, a small status light has begun blinking. If someone was close enough they'd see it's labeled 'comms'. Not that it's important at the moment.

"In our universe," Liyara begins, leading into an explanation that might harm Yoiko mentally, "buoyancy and aerodynamics remain important - as once you leave our solar system, space is filled with a highly explosive material called the Phlogiston." ... Her space EXPLODES?

The dragon woman perks up a bit when Yoiko mentions food. She intentionally stretches her arms out behind herself to make her chest more prominent for a moment, before lowering them again, and lidding her eyes. "Hmm, dinner and a movie?" Liyara looks amused at her own teasing, but then furrows her brows and points to the red status light blinking behind her new associate. "...Well, first. Is that supposed to be blinking like that?"

Rising back to her feet, Yoiko turns towards her companion and dusts herself off. She's about to comment about the idea of getting something to eat again when she catches sight of Liyara stretching and loses her train of thought for some reason. It takes her a moment of concentration to replay the conversation before she seems to get herself back on track. Perhaps a little out of order due to the trouble she's having focusing she abruptly she pauses mid-step seemingly slightly pained as her brain clicks to the whole idea of the Phlogiston. "The Science Council on my home world would have a field day with something like that." She shakes her head as if to clear her thoughts, "I can't even imagine where to begin with that." Ever the Engineer, her head tilts to the side, "Seems like a fun challenge for ship design, though." She crosses her arms, "Explosions notwithstanding."

With another pause to refocus she gives a sly smile, "I think even the thrill of getting back might pale to the idea of a dinner and a movie with you." She manages to keep that smile going for a good minute before she chuckles and ruins a perfectly good pickup line. "You have a favorite place to eat from? I don't exactly have a kitchen for preparing meals anymore."

"I haven't designed one, I admit." Liyara shrugs, and looks at the flashing light a moment longer. Well, if Yoiko doesn't think it's important, then Liyara isn't going to bother her with it too much.

"I must confess, I eat a rather large amount, and the Usual has been the only place I can obtain such quantities. And..." Liyara crosses her arms underneath her chest, supporting her curves in a way designed to enhance their appeal. "...I haven't actually been to a movie, yet. Simply picked up the phrase." She actually looks embarrassed to admit that. She wouldn't blush - but it's still readable. It's mostly in her expression. Her tail flicks behind her, slightly.

Yoiko looks positively aghast at the idea of someone who's never seen a movie. "Look, entertainment on my world was pretty terrible. We have sweeping soft music which some cultures call 'ambience' more than 'songs'. We have plenty of stories, but there was never a huge drive to have people act out those stories in plays or for movies because of the way we pass on information through memories." She's referring to how the Symbionts share memories between hosts, not that Liyara is likely to completely understand that just yet. "So by contrast human films and music are simply amazing to me. Especially during the 20th century since it was such a chaotic time."

She abruptly remembers that she's still wearing a shirt covered in singe marks and talking about going out. Not really even pausing she makes her way past Liyara, tossing her jacket on her bed and taking off her shirt to grab another one. The door being left open behind her maybe not quite as innocent an accident as it could be taken for. How much the dragoness sees is up for debate, but amusing fact the spots framing her face do actually go down along two rows along the edge of her chest and down her stomach before her pants obscure the ability to see them.

"I tell you what, let me send a message out as a test. We can get some food and I'll absolutely throw in a trip to the movies if you're willing. It'll give plenty of time for that message to get out and maybe when I get back I'll have a response and can start picking up the pieces of what's happened since I've been here." At this point she reemerges from her room having exchanged her torn up gold t-shirt for a gold crop top. She grabs her jacket, throwing it back on. "There's got to be something worth watching. It'll be fun!"

"By memories..." Liyara muses, not making it a question just yet. Yoiko had said she wasn't human, but Liyara wasn't quite sure what that meant. More questions for later. She watches Yoiko move past her, and she turns her head to see the woman change. Liyara isn't particularly interested in the humanoid form for many reasons, not the least of which is how easy it was to explore back in her home world. But she is interested in those spots, so she'll raise an eyebrow and take a look since it's afforded to her. She wonders if those are perhaps more than a simple tattoo.

"That sounds like as good a plan as any." Liyara has more important things to do with her time than watch a movie, but there are benefits to making friends, too. Plus Yoiko seems to be absolutely filled with information in a way that no one else around here is. Thus far Liyara has learned more simply following her around for a half hour than she's learned in any given week since she got here. Well. Prior to last week, anyway.

She'll eventually turn away, but Yoiko might have caught her peeking if the engineer was paying more attention than she was letting on. "I like fun, after all." Are there people who don't?

If Yoiko was paying attention she doesn't broadcast it, although she does retain that sly grin she had before. No matter what she's enjoying herself much more than she has since Kenzie left. But then you don't really get any genuine interactions from working on machinery all day and night. Honestly just having someone to talk to is more important to her than most of the work she's put into this ship, not that she's likely to admit that to herself. Even all the teasing and flirting is more for the entertainment value than any real desire for anything more than a friend, so that in mind maybe it was lucky the two crossed paths today for both their sakes.

However due to that heavy block of antisocial behavior and the affect it has on people she does offer an alternative, "If crowds aren't your thing we could probably rent something and bring it back here. There's a rental box at the 24-7 that's got an outstanding collection of films on it. If nothing else I'm sure I could suggest one or two." At this point she goes over to a larger monitor on the wall behind her desk, clicking away at a few buttons on an angled console just below the screen. "You won't quite get the same experience as watching it with a crowd, but it is a bit more...." She ponders just the right word and glances back with a grin, "...intimate?" She waits a beat before defusing the statement, "In a chaste way. I said I'd behave tonight." She snickers at herself, "I meant it."

The moment the monitor flashes to life Yoiko can't help but blink unexpectedly as a communication is apparently already queued up for her. "Well. Um. I guess that saves me the effort of hoping someone picks up?" She presses a few buttons on the console and watches as the screen comes to life. There's a high-pitched series of chirps indicating a connection has been established. "Yoiko to..." She peers down at the readout on the console. "...anyone? Hello? Is my signal getting through?" Hopefully it's not some kind of feedback loop. She lets out a worried sigh at that idea.

As the Commander comes on screen, the Chief Medical Officer breathes a slight sigh of relief. Eventually, Alexander would come on screen for her as well. "Commander Hax." The doctor's words are strained, as he presses another button on his terminal, this one sending a notice to the bridge that communications have been locked down for this transmission due to private medical matters. The Captain however, will receive a different notice: 'She's been located. Health Exam is underway.'

"We have been attempting to reach you for.. well. It's rather difficult to say as portions of the ship seem to be still suffering severe chroniton exposure. Suffice to say, it has been a fair amount of time at least for me."

The dataslate chirps, causing the doctor to divert his attention away from the terminal for a few moments. His eyes narrow, returning his attention back to the screen. "Now would be a wonderful time for you to report on your current status..." He lets the words trail off as the look he gives the screen could freeze Hell itself over. It's quite obvious he's none too pleased with the Commander.

There's a wealth of thoughts and emotions that run through Yoiko's mind, but being scowled at over a year after being trapped on Twisted isn't something she was prepared for. Somewhere in her thoughts a record scratches as it comes to a stop. "I... uh... what?" She stares at the face of the Chief Medical Officer in disbelief. "Are you seriously telling me that after a YEAR, possibly more, you're expecting the first thing I say to you or any other member of the crew is a mission debrief?!" She covers her face in disbelief and resists the urge to scream. It takes her a moment to get herself back under control. "I know we never saw eye to eye, Rebane, but I thought you'd at least have an ounce of sympathy left in you." Of course she did murder the captain and the navigator. She remembers this with an obvious cringe.

"A year? Commander, only a week has passed since you went missing. Captain Munster and Lieutenant Galpin were immediately beamed back directly after you departed." The scowl vanishes, and is briefly replaced by a look of extreme concern. If what the commander says is true, then the situation is extremely dire. "Yoiko. If you've been down there for a year.. I need you to give me an Isoboramine reading. With the chroniton event here on the ship, I'm afraid that the debrief is going to have to wait. I trust you have the ability to transmit a blood sample readout?"

Yoiko seems to collapse at that news, "Wait... a week?" Momentary pause. "WAIT, THEY'RE ALIVE?!?!" She leaps up, putting her face almost directly against the monitor like she was about to hug it. "It's a good thing we're not face to face right now because I could kiss you for that! Where are they? Why am I talking to you instead of Jon?" Out of sheer habit she leans left and right trying to somehow see behind the good Doctor, even if it makes no logical sense. "Okay, wait. I'm not thinking clearly. I haven't been for a while now, admittedly. What do you mean 'Chroniton Event'? What's happened to my ship?"

"Yoiko. That can wait. Right now the priority is you. The ship is still in one piece. TenNapel is working on it. It'll be nice to have you back to sort it out, but right now I /NEED/ that readout. We have very little readings of what is inside the Florpus Hole beyond elevated Chroniton readings. Your unique physiology may be impacted by this in unseen ways. This is a Medical Order, Commander. I need you to send me a sample readout now."

The Commander stares blankly, "TenNapel couldn't engineer his way out of an Andorian Ice Cave with a blow torch." This is mostly said for Liyara's benefit. "Doctor, I can't send a medical reading. I had to build this equipment from scratch. This is the first time I've had enough power to actually send a transmission. Your timing is just a convenient accident." She lets out a very heavy sigh, "Look, this planetoid we found is called Twisted, or it was before a disaster smashed it apart recently. There are refugees from all over the time space spectrum who've ended up here. Technology is mostly comparable to 20th century Earth save for what designs the refugees bring with them and there aren't a lot of Engineers capable of building twenty third century equipment." She nervously glances at her new friend and back at the screen, "Although there has been a complication I should probably elaborate on..."

Liyara has chosen to, rather obviously, stay out of view of Yoiko's communications device if such a thing is even possible. It's not that she doesn't like being seen, quite the contrary. She just understands that conversations don't need a third wheel, so she's not going to be one unless invited. The dragon-lady keeps her hands behind her back, her posture relaxed. Listening, she raises an eyebrow at the exposition. It sounds like she would probably be a better engineer than this TenNapel... and she only learned what a blowtorch was last week.

There is a loud sigh from Alexander as his left hand moves to gently massage his forehead in frustration. "Commander Hax... One with your.. special circumstances should realize that keeping track of your physical well-being would be a high priority." Slowly he rises from the desk, stepping out of view from the screen. A minute or so passes, and once more he sits down at the desk, another dataslate visible in his hands.

"Complications are a common theme it seems whenever you have a hand in something. Such as disabling the filters on the transporter prior to beaming down to view an unknown planetoid...." Yep, Alexander knows all about that little slip up. Of course, his gaze now shifts into one of neutral boredom. "Please, go ahead and elaborate as to what these new found complications just so happen to be. While you do that, I will be happily planning on how I'm going to report to the Trill Science Ministry about how one of their citizens was lost in a temporal event."

Yoiko punches the console in front of her as she marches off screen from the CMO's point of view. Stepping away long enough to grit her teeth and gesture an 'I'm sorry' at Liyara she leaves the room, opening a hatch, and returning with a folding chair and a barstool. She offers the barstool to her guest and sets the chair in front of the monitor. "I was going to get to that at the end of my story. I guess I can open with that, sure. I had to disable them. I would have died otherwise. Remember how I kept dodging your demands to do a full report on my health?" She taps her fingers a moment before elaborating, "I never left to get married. I got joined to a life form named Hax. It's a Symbiont. It lives inside me." Her hands are visibly shaking at this point. "I couldn't risk elaborating at the time, but something has gone wrong..."

When Yoiko leaves the room, Liyara takes the opportunity to look around. The contents of Yoiko Hax's 'apartment' are a different level of technology than Liyara has had the chance to observe in her time here - in many ways more advanced than all of it, and in other ways far behind some of the portable communications devices so many of the populace seem to carry around on their person. She is a smart cookie, the dragon is, but she doesn't have the context necessary to recognize the irony; the tiny handheld devices were all inspired by the technology Yoiko is using, crossing the border between fiction and reality. She hasn't fully grasped the meta-reality that is Twisted, even if she understands the multiversal nature of it.

She takes a seat on the barstool when it's offered to her, and waits patiently. In spite of herself, she mumbles a low "Ooh" when she hears that Yoiko has a symbiotic relationship with another creature inside of her. Well that's... actually quite fascinating. Even in Toril, such things are rare - most things that live inside others are parasites there.

Alexander's gaze shifts to one of interest as he listens to the Commander's explanation, and finally admitting to the reason why she kept dodging him. He takes a few moments to compose himself, and speaks with a rather apologetic tone. "Yoiko. You've been flagged by Starfleet as a medically sensitive crew member based upon Trillius Prime's demands. There is very little information as to why. The only records I have are from your home world, which now I can see are heavily redacted, and those of Commander Saunders."

The doctor pauses, knowing just how angry his threat must have made her. "You remember how I blew out power to all of Deck Seven shortly after boarding the ship to ensure I had proper power for the Bioscanners?" Alexander holds up the second dataslate towards the screen. "It's for scenarios like this. The health of the crew is my priority beyond anything else." He lowers the dataslate, his eyes moving down to object. A full minute passes before he returns his gaze to the screen.

"If something has gone wrong, then I need you to be honest with me. We'll have to do a full evaluation once we get you back to the ship, however... I need to know anything you can tell me about your current physical situation."

The Trill woman blinks slowly. Hearing the doctor speak without sounding overly gruff or angry is rare for her. She can't help but laugh at the mention about blowing out the power to deck seven, though. "Being joined to the Hax Symbiont means I share the memories of the previous hosts it had been joined with. There's a few things about my personality that are affected by this, but just keep that in mind a moment." She holds up a finger while she tries to gather her thoughts. For a brief instance it looks like she's about to fall out of her chair, but she corrects herself with a twitch of her head and resumes the story, "When I first beamed out I arrived fine. My first night here I expected the worst and thought I was never going to leave again. I let someone take me to a local establishment and drink forgetting that I have an extremely low tolerance because one of the previous hosts was a heavy drinker. I ended up very drunk very quickly..." Now she finally gets to the point, "I've never completely sobered up. I'm still drunk, or at least I feel that way. What's more the other personalities are bleeding through at random instead of staying integrated." She takes a second to rub her forehead, "This whole planetoid is saturated with Chroniton particles. Something about the way time works here is affected like it... Like it didn't have time somehow and someone tried to correct it by modifying Chronitons. They soak into everything. I think that might have something to do with it." She lets out a very nervous sigh, "That or my joining isn't taking. There's a ritual my people undertake where we rebalance ourselves with the other host memories but I can't undertake that while I'm trapped here." Which explains why she's been building a ship out of her apartment, honestly.

As Liyara listens, she leans forward on her barstool, leaving her hands in her lap. She doesn't ACTUALLY need them to keep her dress in place, she has magic for that, but it's a habit. She didn't always have magic clothing. The redhead re-appraises Yoiko for the fifth time today, and decides maybe she needs to be more careful with her automatic assumptions about people. She wouldn't have guessed any of what she's learned about her new acquaintance, not even a little bit.

Dragons are not prone to acknowledging other people as on their level, but Yoiko is the only person she's met who independently arrived at the conclusion that was dumped on her by Medical Mechanica, so Liyara is willing to accept that the woman has earned some help in that regard. She traces a fingertip in the air, writing, with fire, a message so that Yoiko can read it without Liyara's voice interrupting her call. "I believe they stole the time from another planet." She waits until the words are read before she changes them. "They called it Chronos, I'm presuming because it was the donor, but for all I know it was already called that."

As Yoiko finally explains things, Alexander glances down at the data slate yet again. There's something that is bothering him, and finally it hits him. "Yoiko. Your health records state that your isoboromine levels cannot fall below forty percent. That in itself is peculiar as it's not something any other documented race really has to worry about..."

Stepping away from his desk once more, the doctor vanishes off screen as he leaves his office entirely. His voice can barely be heard in the distance as he shouts orders at the Medical Crew of the Vesuvius. Once he returns, he is wearing his tricorder and medical pack. "Commander Hax. What is the current date and exact time of your location? There is limited astronavigational data in regards to Temporal Travel, however.. I'm certain you can supply me with some equations."

There's a long pause as the light from the fire writing catches Yoiko's attention and she turns away from the screen to watch long enough to catch the full message. Because of this it makes her a little confused when she turns back to Alexander and tries to process what he said slightly out of context. "Erm, uh. Exact? We're in the Integra's Arms apartments room 304. It's..." She rubs her head. She's confused exact time with exact location. "14 hundred hours? About?" She taps some buttons on the console in front of her and an obvious error sound chimes out. "I don't know how to program S/COMS from scratch, it's a bit beyond me. Everything here is pretty simplified. Look the..." She taps a few more buttons, "See if you get that readout. It's the math I worked up to try and punch through SEH-01's Event Horizon. It's the best I've managed to come up with from this side. I don't know how that's going to help you though." He still hasn't explained the state of the ship to her leaving her even more confused.

When Yoiko reads her messages, Liyara offers one of those warm, rewarding smiles that go a long way to making people feel like they did the right thing. People should acknowledge her. However, she sees that Yoiko is like most mortals, in that she can't multi-task to the same degree Liyara can. So she'll stop interrupting for now. Not everything is about her.

Or at least, that's what other people think. Obviously everything is about her, but she's long since learned that people appreciate it if she doesn't act on this one, simple truth. The sacrifices she must make to deal with mortals.

She does try to catch any of the math being presented, but odds are good it's just a simple file transfer, and not displaying on any screen anywhere. She knows this from her earlier reading, but it's still disappointing. She could probably help in that area. See? It is all about her. Silly Starfleet.

The doctor remains silent as he reads over the information. "Then I suppose this will have to do." He glances away from the screen for a brief moment, only to sigh. "Captain Munster will not like this whatsoever... However this does classify as a priority one medical emergency.." It's a real hassle when he has to use that as leverage, but in this case the whole situation doesn't feel right to him whatsoever.

"Commander, we will be following Vulcan Temporal Protocol. Not Starfleet Temporal Protocol. My team and I will rendezvous with you in if all goes well... a day. Possibly two depending on the difference. If for any reason you see us prior to this specific time, you are not to interact with us. We will not interact with you until after this communication has finished."

Yoiko looks in confusion at the monitor, barely grasping what's being implied. "I... alright? Wouldn't it be easier if I came to you?" She gestures at the ship they're standing in, which obviously he can't see at the moment. "I'm mostly confident I can make it in this shuttle. I mean, I made it myself!" She knows how stubborn he is though and lets out a sigh. "Sure. Whatever. I'll continue to sit by, Doctor. Let the Captain and Lieutenant Galpin know I'm glad they're safe and I hope I see them soon." She's not sure if she should close the communication at this point or not but obviously he's not going to share what's going on with the Vesuvius. Maybe she can try to reach out to Jonathon herself afterwards...?

Liyara raises both eyebrows when a rendezvous is arranged, and she looks a bit alarmed. "Oh no. That's a terrible idea." So much for not interrupting. The dragon woman grimaces, and shakes her head. "...They'll be trapped here, too." Well, unless they can help Yoiko get out of here. But that's ridiculous. Yoiko sounded like she was trying to punch her way out of here with physical force.

Humans always use so little finesse, and so much brutality. It's kind of impressive, but...

Liyara stops herself. Well why not? Without the phlogiston, humans were able to brute force interstellar travel. Why not brute force a black hole? It's technically impossible, but so is faster than light travel, so... Hmm. Questions for later - after she actually finds out the secret of brute force interstellar travel. Maybe she can get Yoiko to divulge Starfleet secrets? The woman does seem vulnerable to her charms.

"Negative Commander. If you're not completely certain your attempt at escape will be successful, then I've got no choice but to breach the event horizon in a shuttlecraft. This is the safest way, especially as your health is now my top priority." The single-minded tenacity of the Chief Medical Officer is something that was a bit of a boon during his time on Vulcan. "Chief Medical Officer Rebane out." The screen suddenly goes dark, leaving the two women in the robo-apartment seemingly alone.

That is of course until there is a loud knock on the outer doors of the apartment. Though, once Yoiko would open the door, the imposing form of the Chief Medical Officer would be standing in front of her. "Ah, good. I was correct." His left hand will then surge forward, to snatch the Commander by the right wrist, as a small object is then thrust against her index finger. If all of this is managed, Yoiko will feel a rapid jab, and then it's over as she's released, the doctor now turning his attention now to the large tricorder on his side.

Once more Yoiko blinks at the screen as it grows dark, or more accurately goes back to whatever display she has it rigged to show when it's not in use. Likely a random picture she found on the outdated internet they have here. She has about enough time to turn and open her mouth to speak to Liyara when the sound of the door being knocked on echoes out. "Hold that thought a moment." Stepping out of the shuttle she makes her way along the edge to the door and cautiously opens it up.

The Commander stares in disbelief as Rebane is physically standing there in front of her. "How did you manage to transpor-OW!" He really just STABBED her? With a NEEDLE?! Are they barbarians!? Quickly she yanks her hand back, rubbing at her tiny wound. "What the hell was that for?!" For a moment she's tempted to slam the door in his face, but the sobering effect of being pricked keeps her together for at least a slight bit longer.

Reaching into his medical pack, Alexander retrieves a hypospray and adjusts a small knob on the bottom. "How long have you said you were experiencing the feeling of drunkenness?" The doctor speaks as he stares at the dosage meter on the small device before quickly pressing it against her neck, pressing the button on the side that rapidly dispenses the liquid inside. He then places device into his medical pack, and pulls out the small silver tube that feeds the data into the large tricorder upon his side, carefully running it around Yoiko's head, and then her chest.

"I told you, I took a shuttle. I came down with two of my team, who are currently offering assistance at the Mabase Medical Clinic. I've been here for about a month now myself. The temporal event /seems/ to be leveling out as the ships time synchronizes with this planetoid, however that's just speculation. It might be a coincidence, or a simple stroke of luck. I've given you two milliliters of terakine, which is an analgesic. It should help with your feeling drunk."

Yoiko wonders briefly how he ever expects anyone to answer his questions when he immediately goes on about another subject before anyone can respond. She takes it all in quietly this time, making a mental note about what she should likely do the moment she gets back on board. "I've been feeling like that since..." She lets out a slight sigh of relief as she can already feel her head beginning to clear slightly, "....oh, that's so much better." Right, where was she? "S-since I got here. It's been perpetual since that first night. Tell me again what's been going on? Did you say something earlier about isoboromine?"

"Isoboromine is a neurotransmitter that's unique to your race. Most of your medical information that we have states that low levels within your body would be fatal. You currently are at one hundred forty percent. So it's not low levels. It's extremely elevated levels. Benzocyatizine is used to raise your Isoboromine levels, so I gave you something that in theory should help reduce them."

Alexander places the silver tube back into his pack, and retrieves another hypospray, which he then places against Yoiko's neck. "This is a simple mixture of saline and steroids to help combat any unseen issues your body may develop as your Isoboromine levels drop." The second hypospray is placed into the pack as he lifts the tricorder, staring at the display as he carefully monitors the change. He's still not pleased with the readings, but he's not quite ready to give her any more medication then what he currently has without having his own medical equipment to monitor her status more in depth.

The Commander instinctively rubs her neck once he finally takes a break from all the injections, wondering momentarily why he'd use a hypo for medicine but a proper needle to take blood when he could have just done a reading with his tricorder. Her eyes narrow momentarily realizing he's probably just getting back at her for something. "Thank you for the doctoring, but I notice you've still not answered any of the questions about the specifics of the ship. Since I can't exactly picture you worried beyond paying attention to my wellbeing, I have to assume it's either something really bad or you dislike me so much you want me to squirm until I can see it firsthand." Well, that's a much more accurate assumption than anything she's made in the past year or so, so clearly things are working. "Wait, you said you've been here a month?" She promptly begins to rub her eyes with one hand. "Great, it IS that bad..."

While Liyara is a patient woman, there's only so much she can learn from the interior of Yoiko's shuttle without poking at things that she doesn't yet understand, or taking apart something that would be better kept in one piece. Even poking at the viewscreen might accidentally call someone and reveal her snooping around. So, when she's done observing the interior, she decides to slip back out and find Yoiko.

This isn't exactly a difficult task - but it has the potential downside of revealing her presence to Yoiko's new conversational partner. Not that Liyara cares one way or the other, but Yoiko might not benefit from a sexy dragon woman leaving her personal quarters in revealing medieval attire. The dragonborn is almost tempted to change into something else - a Starfleet uniform would be quite entertaining in her mind - but she doesn't have the knowledge to pull that off - yet. Maybe something to keep in mind for later.

"I give up on being curious - did things work out as planned?" The redhead asks her question as she emerges from the shuttle, and takes a look around before seeing who is actually at the door. It's still really strange-looking in here.

Yoiko is one hundred percent correct in her thought process in regards to the finger prick. Alexander will never of course admit it. "I haven't answered your questions because they don't pertain to my mission at this time. The ship is in fact in one piece. There have been seventeen births, eighteen deaths due to natural causes such as old age, and various other maladies. Other than that, I've been rather tied up in keeping everyone alive and healthy across what seems to be multiple periods of time."

The doctor once more eyes the tricorder, finally seeing a change that proves to be promising. As he goes to speak once more, the tricorder sparks a few times, before coughing up a small cloud of acrid black smoke. An annoyed look crosses the medical officer's face as he holds the device out now towards the Commander expectantly. "Oh, repairs on non-essential systems has a three month backlog."

Liyara's voice however, is not something the Doctor is quite expecting, as he glances around Yoiko to get a better look at the red-headed woman making her way to the doorway. A quizzical eye is turned to Yoiko, as the doctor slowly speaks in a droll tone, "I suppose that if you wanted to make the marriage excuse more believable, it should have been a wife, Commander Hax?"

'Multiple periods of time.' That statement gets a heavy sigh as she starts to piece things together. Having a clearer mind definitely makes it easier to hypothesize. "Unnnggh, the ship hasn't moved from the corona when it was supposed to move back to a safe distance. That... actually might explain why the transport failed." She doesn't really address Liyara at all as her mind is too heavily focused on what's waiting for her on the ship.

The moment Rebane holds up his Tricorder to her she takes it from him automatically and strolls back towards the shuttle to get her tools leaving the doctor and the dragon to share awkward company a moment before she comes back with her hair in a bun, pinned in place by various small screwdrivers which she changes out as she dissects the futuristic scanner. She'll have most of the casing pried off as she comes back to the door, gesturing for the good doctor to enter so she can close the door behind him. "Liyara, this is Doctor Rebane. He has a first name but you'll probably never hear him say it." A spark flies out of the tricorder making her scowl at it angrily. "And likewise Doc, this is Liyara. She could probably turn you to a pile of ash where you're standing, so I wouldn't piss her off."

The device starts making the same chirping whirring noise Liyara would have heard Yoiko's making earlier as she gets it to at least start functioning again. The engineer doesn't bother putting the snazzy black case back on it as she hands it back to him, exposed bits of wire and all. "That's as good as it's going to get until I can get back to the ship. At least it's working. It probably needs a base line calibration before I'd trust anything it tells you though." She puts a hand on her hip and smirks, "Also, um. I never told you I was married. That was our glorious Captain who suggested an arranged marriage to a mystery man. I never made it a secret that I dated an Orion girl who was trying to make a name for herself as a therapist before being transferred to the Vesuvius." She pauses to grin mischievously at her new friend, "Oh, the stories I could tell you..."

Having been conscripted into marriage before, Liyara raises an eyebrow at the Doctor's assumption.  Such a pretense is far preferable to the situation with Korrin however, so the redhead smirks just a bit in spite of herself. She decides to let Yoiko field that one, both for the sake of her own amusement, and out of some newfound sense of courtesy the dragonborn has been developing since arriving here.

Once Yoiko leaves them alone for a moment, the dragon looks Rebane up and down, studying him with an inscrutable look on her face. Unlike Yoiko, he looks fully human, which she would have assumed a month ago means he's rather on the slow side. But if they come from a society where tech like Yoiko's is commonplace...

"Charmed, I'm sure." Liyara offers her hand out to the Doctor with palm facing downward, fingers splayed just so. ... Does she expect him to kiss her hand? How anachronistic AND unlikely. "...And I'm equally sure your particle weapon could vaporize people too, but for the record I haven't killed any people since I've arrived here. Restraint, you understand." She reaches up and tosses her hair a bit as she speaks, affecting a self-superior air that she copied from human royalty back home, while her tail sways behind her.

Yup, doesn't take a super genius to spot egomania, and it's rolling off her in waves. Remember kids, this is her toning it down for polite company.

As the guts of the tricorder are handed back to him, Alexander rolls his eyes at Yoiko. Obviously she's trying to get her own payback as well. Yet, Liyara does pose a curious quandary for him. A scaled tail? Wings? Horns? There are some races out there that have tails, but rarely do they come across as obvious as Liyara's does. He doesn't even know of any that actually have wings. There are of course plenty of them that DO in fact have horns.

Giving her an extremely bored look as she casually humble-brags about how she could in fact vaporize him, Alexander doesn't bother taking her hand or even indulging her a single bit. Yet, it's time to prove Yoiko wrong on another count. "Lieutenant Commander Alexander Rebane, Chief Medical Officer of the USS Vesuvius." His tone is now filled with disdain at Liyara's actions as he reaches into his bag again and retrieves the small cylinder that is used for scanning with the tricorder.

Scanning the Dragon-woman, he stares at the screen of the tricorder as confusion starts to cross his face. A brief glance is given towards Yoiko, before he dismisses the thought that she'd intentionally give him back something malfunctioning. He does know her work ethic wouldn't ever allow her to do that sort of thing. "Dragon human hybrid.... most interesting."

Yoiko absolutely wasn't trying to gain any payback from the broken tricorder. There is literally no way to put the cover back on using simple screwdrivers! She scowls a minute at the scan, pondering smacking it out of his hands. "I told you to get a base calibration first! I didn't mean do it /now/." She crosses her arms indignantly. "I should have removed the radiation shield out of spite." Obviously she wouldn't do that but it makes her feel better to say it.

She huffs a bit, looking off to the side before things click in her mind and she turns back around looking ready to slap him. "You just ran a molecular genetics test!" She lightly punches him in the arm. "You ASSHOLE!" She's not on the ship, or on duty. Even if she was they effectively have the same rank, she can call him for what he is. "You DID stab me for no reason!" He gets a finger pointed in his general direction but there's really nothing she can do to him for it on the books or off it. She's mad at him though, that much is obvious.

The angry engineer storms off towards the shuttle to drop off the screwdrivers she's wearing before she's willing to come back. When she finally does she scowls at him once more. "Well played, Rebane." But why leave it at that? "Some day. Some how." Yeah. That'll do.

Lowering her hand when it's not taken, Liyara gives a small sigh that's more for show than anything else. She's not disappointed, but there's no harm in acting at least a tiny bit so for fun. "Liyara, daughter of Lux, Grandscion of Hoondarh, the Red Rage of Mintarn - who lives Eternal." She offers a radiant smile that she spent a full human lifetime crafting to seem as sincere and heart melting as possible, and dusts off her dress, not that it's dirty. It's never dirty.

When Alexander runs his little scanning device over her, Liyara's smile fades as she arches an eyebrow, trying to figure out what to expect. When he returns a 'human dragon hybrid', the redhead blinks once, then laughs a little and tucks some hair behind an ear. "My mother's line were dragons, yes." She doesn't comment on her father's line, it's worth noting. "...That's an interesting device. I would have to cast a spell to get that information." Her tail flicks once, then twice. "I'm rather impressed - Faster than Light travel, disintegrate-tier weapons, and divination tools." They certainly made do with what they had, which was obviously not magic. "You're not that far behind my own homeworld." The highest compliment anyone HERE has received from Liyara. And she's given out a few since she got here, though complimenting the Federation of all things seems almost redundant. Their existence is a compliment in and of itself.

When Yoiko goes off on Rebane though, Liyara's eyes flash a slightly brighter green. A grin finds its way onto her face, and she glances at the Trill woman. "...My students used to play all manner of practical jokes to see if they could get past my unflappable exterior." She had an unflappable exterior? She sure doesn't act like it. "...We could compare notes on what did and didn't work sometime." That's the worst kind of conspiracy - the kind against Rebane.

"A baseline is rarely ever needed whenever you perform repairs, Commander." What's this? Rebane is ACTUALLY giving a compliment to Yoiko? Someone had better check to see if the world is ending or something to that effect. Yet as she realizes that yes, he could have just scanned her, a sly smile creeps onto his face. "Whatever do you mean, Commander Hax? The most effective way to truly get exact results of a person's chemical imbalances still is manual extraction of a sample. As an engineer, I'm quite sure that you're more than aware of this."

Yet, while Liyara explains how she would have to use magic to do everything he did, his voice seems to grow a shade cold, "Magic is merely a concept that under developed civilizations to explain the sciences they don't yet understand." His gaze still remains upon the tricorder as he speaks, before handing it back to Yoiko. "Of course, some worlds are far more advanced than anything the Federation has seen, and they do consider it magic. However, in the end it's still science."

When Liyara mentions students playing practical jokes upon her, an almost delighted smile crosses his face as he now looks between Yoiko and the Dragon-Woman. "When a student is capable of disrupting their teacher, then it's only time for the teacher to raise the bar even higher. How else will a student learn if they're simply capable of... pulling one over on their instructors...."

This is probably a good time to put a stop to this before it escalates, although to be fair a few paragraphs sooner would have been better. Yoiko takes this opportunity to unfold her arms, "Okay, look. We need to focus." She looks directly at the doctor. "I need to get to the ship and get things in order before any more harm comes to the crew. Obviously my math was at least mostly on point." She gestures towards the shuttle she's been building. "As much as I have faith in the shuttle I've been building, the one you brought down should be able to do a full automated reversal based on the coordinates you gave it. I need to know where it is and I need to get up there as fast as I can." She now turns towards Liyara with a pained expression. "You'll have to forgive me for standing you up on that offer for a movie." Despite herself she gives a sly grin, "You could always come with. Can't promise I'll get you back here anytime soon though."

Ah, yes. Liyara was going to run into one of these types eventually - the 'sufficiently advanced science' crowd. Liyara read about that on the internet - it was actually fairly early on in her research. Human science and the way it imitates magic has been her primary fascination upon arriving here. Of course, she's learned a great deal of the terminology and theory behind it since she got here, but she's hardly found any books on federation science, and Trek has floated almost completely under her radar as a work of fiction. Which leaves her... here. Her arched eyebrow returns, and she puts a hand on her hip.

"Math, actually." Come again? "Magic is math, blood, and tears. Scientific principles only apply contextually - things like conservation of energy, the laws of relativity, and other semi-rigid truths in any scientific synthesis I've read are completely sidestepped by most magic." That's a bold statement.

"...Even the most intractable like anti-matter annihilation can be sort of..." She waves a hand dismissively. "...Handwaved away." She looks the doctor over again, looking like she's about to puff up and really give him a demonstration of how two plus two still equals four, but is also sometimes pie, green, or Tuesday. But Yoiko wisely intervenes, and Liyara's hackles lower.

"...Right, well. No offense, Miss Starfleet, but I'd ditch dinner plans in a heartbeat too if it meant getting home and saving my school from..." She tilts her head for a moment. "...I'm guessing extreme time dilation and threat of slipping too far into the event horizon. Really, there's such a thing as too brave." She shrugs, but then manages to smile again - Yoiko saved her from getting defensive. "...As for going with you, I could probably help - but I've resolved to get the refugees here home before I do anything as silly and life-threatening as tow a spaceship out of a black hole." What, would she physically pull it? That's ridiculous. And probably wouldn't work.

Probably.

As Liyara hackles are most assuredly raised, Alexander merely smiles knowingly at her. "Which is still science in the end. Handwaving fails to sufficiently explain. Which is something that a student wouldn't really want to do, is it?" He understands that this sort of comment may in fact do more than raise her hackles. Which to him would be rather enjoyable to see.

Yet, as the Dragon-woman explains to Yoiko how she doesn't want to get on a shuttlecraft, breech a Event Horizon, and then go see a ship that's designed to sail across the stars. This is actually a partial let down for him. "Yoiko, the shuttle craft is already prepped and ready to go. I figured that after this you'd be quite ready to return to the ship and see just what it is you can do to remedy its current situation. If there isn't anything else, my team is already waiting for us to depart. Though, it is quite a good thing that we're not bringing additional passengers."

Looking now at Liyara, an evil and sadistic smile rises on his face, "I'm fairly certain the shuttle couldn't handle the extra /weight/."

The Doctor gives Liyara a slight bow as he then turns and moves to leave the apartment that is one step away from becoming a spaceship, motioning for Yoiko to follow him to just where he has his shuttlecraft stashed away.

There's a noticeable twitch in Yoiko's eye at the weight comment. In fact it's enough to make her pause after a moment's thought. "You know, Doctor. That's not a bad point. I don't need a crew to get me back, and if you've already been helping out here you might be better off staying put." She'll glance at her friend with a smirk before elaborating further, "Obviously you would have put a competent crew together in your absence and knowing you're here and safe is probably smarter than to put you at risk again taking you and your people with me back up to the Vesuvius."

While that sounds logical, this is simply her getting a bit of payback. Staying here without his precious tools will get to him. She learned this first hand over the past year. "I have another tricorder kitted for geological studies in the shuttle. Use the communications equipment and tell your men to be waiting for me and lock the door on the way out, alright?" Jonathon will be getting an earful about this once things are back in order. "Who knows? It might only be a few hours. You'll be fine in the meanwhile." Not that she's giving him a choice.

"Doubtful." Liyara says to dismiss Alexander's assertions about Magic being science. "Human science is strictly observational, and reductive." She shrugs a little. "Necessarily so, I'll grant you. Your..." Don't say inferior, they hate that. "...different... perceptions have to work with what is available to them." Eh, not the best save, but let him know she thinks humans are lesser. She does. He'll get over it - most likely immediately.

When Rebane makes a comment about her students, Liyara lets it go - he doesn't know her history with the academy. But when he says he's worried about the effects of added weight on the shuttle, she arches another eyebrow. "...Perhaps cut down on your saturated fats then, Doctor." It was fire, not ice in those veins, right?

The dragon woman then glances to Yoiko as she's getting ready to leave. "...You've been more help in an hour than the rest of this place was in a full season. Please, take this." She reaches into her bag, and pulls out what, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a tuning fork, offering it to Yoiko. "...You'll figure out what it's used for." And one way or the other, the dragoness will take her leave.

Text Box.png
Redmagetiny.png Wait, what?!

A slight nod is given to Yoiko as she gives him her 'command'. Of course, she doesn't realize he had no intention of returning to the ship at this time. This was decided before hand with the Captain and himself. He's exhausted and this entire month on Twisted has been a bit of a vacation for him. Nor does he mention the medical equipment he brought with him already awaiting his return at the Mabase Medical Clinic.

However, he'll let Yoiko think she pulled one over on him. Mainly because she'll use the enthusiasm from this into freeing the ship that much faster. Turning now to enter the 'shuttle', he makes the call to his team at the shuttle, instructing them to assist the Commander in any way they can until she's ready to depart. Once he's alone in the apartment, he starts to whistle happily as he locks the door behind him, casually making his way back to the Medical Clinic.
