Ranma Saotome

Boy-Type

With blue tinted black hair, the teen standing before you is known as Ranma Saotome heir to the Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial Arts. Trained since infancy to be a "man amongst men" this egotistical, pigtailed, martial artist tends to be quick to get into fights and to keep women hovering over him despite the fact that he's already engaged. (Well, he's engaged to a lot of women technically). He is always seen dressed in unisex oriental-style clothes. Most commonly he's seen wearing a red gi over a white sleeveless shirt, black pants, and black weights on his wrists. For some reason he seems to go out of his way to avoid getting splashed with water...

Girl-Type

Before you stands a perky girl with red hair. Only those that know her would realize she's really Ranma Saotome, heir to the Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial Arts. Surrounded by misfortune caused by sheer bad luck and bad parenting, Ranma-chan is frequently being kicked around and abused, but luckily thanks to her upbringing she can handle it. Typically she's seen wearing a loose fitting red gi over a white sleeveless shirt, and baggy black pants. For some reason she seems to go out of her way to avoid getting splashed with hot water...

Ranma Saotome

Besides a wide array of 'standard' moves, Ranma has also mastered a number of unique antiques he's quick to rely on when a fight gets out of control. This includes, but is not limited to...

Kachu Tenshin Amaguriken
The so-called "chestnuts roasting over an open fire" technique is a rapid-fire punching attack where he can manage to hit an opponent in a blazing series of strikes to a single location. While the actual number of strikes might be in the hundreds to a normal observer his hands simply become a blur lasting only a few seconds. This may seem impressive against normal people, but would likely seem slow to someone from the Dragonball universe.

Hiryu Shoten Ha
A powerful blast of ki energy that launches away enemies in a carefully timed uppercut. This attack is fueled by heat or hot-headed emotions and the more of it available the more powerful the blast becomes. There are many variations of this attack that Ranma has created over the years and it will continue to be modified as the situation requires.

Moko Takabisha
Another ki-based attack, this one creates a ball of energy based on Ranma's confidence. It's weakness is that if he is sufficiently intimidated by an opponent the attack becomes effectively useless.

Saotome Secret Technique: Fast Break
Why is this listed here? This is not a technique; it's running away very quickly! Nevertheless it's a named ability he occasionally relies on.

Cat-Fist
An extremely powerful and dangerous technique that would only be taught to a student by a complete idiot. Thanks to his father's training, Ranma goes into a trance state when his fear of cats is intensified to such a degree that his mind loses the ability of rational thought. During this time he's known to behave like a cat himself with the ability to somehow shred anything in front of him as if it were paper by simply waving his fist around like a paw. He has little to no control over his actions in this state and does not remember anything he's done after it passes.

The Ultimate Skill of the Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial Arts: The Crouch of the Wild Tiger
This is an advanced groveling technique invented for only the most dire of situations. You cannot comprehend this level of practiced groveling. For use when "I'm sorry" just isn't enough! ...may also be used on rare occasions as an opening to a surprise attack if the opponent is successfully overwhelmed.

Ranma's senses are also highly tuned enough to warn him of oncoming danger, similar to a heightened ESP ability. However if he does have any sort of extrasensory perception it's usually dedicated to comedic effect such as shivering when someone is talking badly about him or discussing humiliating him.

Background

Taken as an infant by his father to begin training, Ranma has spent his entire life being trained every form of Martial Arts he came across. However, due to his father's greed he also was promised to hundreds of families as a future heir to their children in exchange for food. With this chaotic lifestyle, Ranma eventually found himself taken to the cursed springs of Jusenkyo. This legendary training ground forces people unfortunate enough to fall into one of over one hundred springs to be cursed to turn into whatever happened to have drowned there when splashed with cold water. The boy was knocked into the Spring of Drowned Girl by his father shortly after knocking him into the Spring of Drowned Panda.

Despite the large number of people Ranma has been promised to over the years, both male and female, Ranma's intended wife is the daughter of Soun Tendo of the Tendo School of Anything Goes Martial Arts. Chosen because she was the youngest, and hated men, it was decided that Akane Tendo would become his fiance - something which became an instant source of conflict. Despite their speech and actions, the two care deeply for each other and Ranma at least is extremely loyal.

Ranma and his father, Genma Saotome, found their way onto Twisted a year or so before the Unification and have appeared both as player run characters and NPCs. The perverted founder of the Anything Goes schools, Happosai, followed them shortly afterwards.
