Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper is the seventh official full release in the Nightmare/Atmosfear series and the first to include a DVD instead of a VHS tape.
__TOC__

Atmosfear: The Gatekeeeper
The series' first DVD game. Despite changes, game play is more reminiscent of the original game. Players collect keys to face their fears while taking orders and playing mini-games from an updated Gatekeeper. In another first for the series, this is the first time a board was designed without booster packs in mind. It also introduces the 'black key' which forces it's holder to be unable to win the game until they get rid of it.

Approximate Running Time: 49 minutes

* Clip: Dutch Language Sample

Time Card Typo
Due to a printing mistake a time card is included in early copies of the game which prevents a player from being able to play the game at all if followed to the letter. This is because in Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper the timer runs down from 60 minutes instead of up (like in previous games). Players should be advised to check for and remove this card from their deck before starting a game.

Atmosfear: Express
Released only in Spain in 2008, Atmosfear: Express is a fifteen minute version of Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper. The game came with two DVDs, the fifteen minute version as well as the original 49 minute version. Due to its limited release it is unknown if there are any rule or gameplay differences at the moment.

Approximate Running Time: 15 minutes

Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper Interactive Edition
In June 2019, an poster advertising Atmosfear: Interactive Edition surfaced on the internet.
It suggested the re-release of Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper (2004) on an app, with greater interactivity than what a DVD could achieve. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case.

The poster, instead, seemed to be a placeholder for ATMOSFEAR (2019), which released around Halloween the same year.

Despite this, confusion arose from the choice to include the likeness and aesthetic of David Whitney's Gatekeeper. as well as the poster dirextly advertising "Atmosfear The Gatekeeper: New Interactive Version".

As of 2021, it seems to have simply been a placeholder image.

----

"Remember the old VCR game Nightmare in 1991 then AtmosFear DVD game after 1995? Well now in 2019 we have the Interactive version relaunch of the game! The aim of Atmosfear is to collect a key from each of the six regions of the board before heading to the "Well of Fears" in the center and attempting to draw your fear from among those of your opponents in order to win the game. This must be done before 49 minutes pass, or all players lose automatically.
The Gatekeeper will frequently appear and causes problems for any or all of the players. Just like its predecessor, Atmosfear makes for stressful play -- players rush to take their turn and pass on the dice as quickly as possible before the Gatekeeper appears and calls on them!

More info available soon on how this interactive version will work!

Age: 8+ years

Features:<br />
*Includes 1 x Atmosfear Interactive Edition
*Download the App for the game!
Chain Game
The "Atmosfear Chain Game" was a small game that is playable on the Atmosfear homepage. You play as The Gatekeeper and have to swing from chain to chain to avoid falling in the lava beneath you.

While the game only featured one level of difficulty, it taunted the player to try a second time after completion going so far as to claim you couldn't win "twice". Regrettably this message never changes removing much replay value.

Sliding Puzzle
Also included was a sliding puzzle in which you move tiles marked with the Atmosfear 'The Gatkeeper' cover art in an attempt to complete the image. Much like the chain game that followed it, only one image is available for the game despite it's claims for a "new puzzle".
