'''ATMOSFEAR (2019)''' is the eighth official full release in the Nightmare/Atmosfear series and the first to require downloading a mobile app.

In June 2019, [[Atmosfear: The_Gatekeeper#Atmosfear: The_Gatekeeper Interactive Edition|an advertisement]] for Atmosfear: Interactive Edition surfaced on the internet.
It suggested the re-release of [[Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper|Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper (2004)]] on an app, with greater interactivity than what a DVD could achieve. After some retooling this became 2019's ATMOSFEAR.

While technically the box art still suggests the original name of '''Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper - Interactive Edition''', most outlets including the official website simply refer to this version as ATMOSFEAR. This version came with an entirely new video component featuring a CG [[The Gatekeeper|Gatekeeper]] with newly recorded dialogue and music which was accessed via a mobile app available for both Android and iOS.

Outside of the new cosmetic changes to the box art and the host video, this version is largely identical to the previous version of the game only without the DVD component. It is speculated that this had something to do with the preceding actor, David Whitney, no longer being available but no information has confirmed this. Presumably because of his absence it was decided to completely re-record the host segments resulting in a version of the Gatekeeper which is no longer dependent on the appearance of the actor portraying him. 

This release was also the first that didn't roll out to all English speaking countries. However since it's release availability has slowly expanded and may yet see a world wide release in the future as more distributers become available. As the app itself is not region locked the game can be enjoyed by reusing the contents of Atmosfear: The Gatekeeper as no physical changes to the board or playing pieces have occurred.
