IN OUR PREVIOUS EPISODE

Artanis observes that he wants to oversee the Marine recruitment seeing as close quarters combat and ship boarding is one of his many specializations. Additionally, when Violet inquires about his interest in the engineering bay, the Protoss answers by stating that researching is one of his many passions and spent much time in the Spear of Adun's research bay on many a long space voyage.

Violet frowns ever so slightly. "Research? We're not really outfitted for research... Engineering here is just... the main systems. Engine access, shields, gravity, reactors, that kinda stuff. I'm not so sure what you can 'research' there." She then pauses, looking up slightly. "Well, it is Asgardian tech..."

Miriya shrugs. "Techies make the ship go. I just fight."

"Ah! But all of those can receive a fair amount of tampering." Artanis explains with a raised finger. "Shields can be improved. Engines can be made more efficient. New methods of redirecting energy can be discovered!" Artanis almost sounds like an excited kid in a toy store, he even rubs his palms a little. "Truly, space fairing is not an art that is to be spectated it is to be explored thoroughly." The Protoss then frowns slightly. "Hm, Asgardian. Sounds strangely familiar and yet I'm not entirely sure where I heard of it."

The door to one of the crew quarters opens and Alexa walks out, just putting on her brown jacket, then slinging a duffel bag on her shoulder. She blinks at the gathering. "Oh, hi everyone." she smiles a bit.

Violet shakes her head. "I'd not really call that 'researching' so much as... tinkering? Tweaking? at any rate, I'm sure the head engineer would love to have your input. That or he'll scream at you to stay out of his way. I can never predict that one." She shrugs, then smiles as Alexa walks out. "Hey Love!" She then blinks, flushing slightly as she coughs into her hand, clearing her throat. "I mean, uh, Ensign..."

Miriya keeps a straight face. totally, totally isn't snickering. "greetings Ensign"

"I suppose there is only one way to find out." Answers Artanis, fully intending to engage the head engineer the same way he does most challenges. Head on and with psi blades swinging. Well, maybe sans Psi Blades but he's playing it by his non existent ear. When Alexa enters the room he gives her the standard Protoss greeting of "En Taro Adun!" and chuckles somewhat at Violet's reaction. Its a little harder for him to hide his chuckling since its telepathic though.

Alexa smirks a little, but nods to Violet and Miriya and greets them both with a "Ma'am". Artanis gets greeted with his own name and a smile. "Sorry if I'm interruptin'. I was just changin' after duty."

Violet shakes her head. "Not at all! I was just showing the two around the ship, they just arrived aboard." She nods to Miriya in particular. "The rest of the pilots should be landing aboard any minute now, but I've not heard of when the marines or the rest of the bridge crew will be arriving just yet."

Miriya nods, not really having anything to add.

Artanis seems to be in the same boat as Miriya. He crosses his arms and watches Violet and Alexa interact. Even if he's got nothing to say he's always very curious to learn about Terran culture! Even if these two aren't actually the type of Terran he's used to.

Alexa nods. "Mind if I tag along? Been sittin' all day, I really need to get a walk in." she chuckles.

Violet laughs a bit nervously, then shakes her head. "Of course, of course. Um, anyway, uh, where were we?" She looks down both directions of the corridor as she mumbles to herself, "Armory, marines, quarters..." She blinks. "Right! Okay, the crew quarters... I'm guessing the both of you will be having a room?" She motions down to where Alexa had jsut exited from.

Miriya arches an eyebrow. "Not together I don't think. No offense."

"Lead the way." Says Artanis in regards to the continued tour. Overhearing Miriya's assumption though, Artanis reflexively laughs at the thought of it before he abruptly stops and glances at the Meltrandi. "Was that a joke?" Honestly, the Protoss couldn't rightly tell.

Violet blinks. "That wasn't what I meant! You two should be having your own rooms, I mean, you're the highest ranked other than me! It's everyone under Lieutenant rank that has to share rooms..."

Miriya just arches an eyebrow. "I'm sure my pilots will get comfy."

Alexa nods. "Just motivation for advancement." she chuckles.

Artanis just facepalms at all the innuendo going on. Guess these Terrans aren't so different from the ones he knows after all. "At any rate." He says trying to move things along whilst glancing at Violet. "Shall we, Executor?"

Violet groans and facepalms as the innuendo just keeps coming. "Exe-Oh, um, yeah!" She lets out a huff of air, then looks up. "I think that kinda concludes it for Miriya, though I still need to show you the fighter bays and bridge, Artanis?"

Miriya says, "I'll follow along. It shan't hurt to review"

"Agreed." Says Artanis with a nod of his head. "Let us carry on. I wish to see all there is to this magnificent ship."

Alexa smiles a little, happy to walk along. "I still need to commit the layout to memory. It's a big more.. involved? Busy? than the ships I'm used to.

Miriya says, "It is good to be familiar with your weapon"

Violet nods and starts making her way back to the upper deck. "Right! Well, let's start with the bridge, then we can greet the pilots as the enter the docking bays!" She almost marches back on up, walking a slight more stiffly than usual.

Artanis follows along whilst keeping a wary eye towards his surroundings. "It is strange. This ship is so different than the Spear of Adun, and yet it is familiar somehow." He gives a telepathic thoughtful hm. "Even the name Phoenix is that of my old friend."

Miriya hmmms "It has bulkheads. doors. a deck. and most importantly, a fighter bay."

Alexa smiles as she looks around again. "Regardles, she is beautiful."

Violet sighs lightly at Miriya's comment. "Yes, I suppose so. Though we're not exactly a carrier." She straightens up slightly as they enter the bridge. "So what makes Phoenix so similar to the Spear, Artanis?" She pauses for a moment at Alexa's wording, but then shakes her head to clear her thoughts.

Alexa waits until nobody is looking, then winks at Violet.

Miriya listens, having little to add. she's a fighter jock not a shipwright.

"As I said, I cannot rightly pin point what makes it feel familiar." Says Artanis whilst looking around the place. "The Spear of Adun was created centuries before I was born. It had an entire army of dormant warriors forever sworn to wage war for the sake of Aiur. And yet, it was a welcoming place. A stalwart beacon of light in the cold, encroaching dark of the vastness of space." He narrows his eyes. "I feel that same sensation here."

Miriya says, "Perhaps I will feel that way when there are more crew."

Alexa grins a bit. "I just can't wait to fly 'er. Honestly, I'm used to bein' the only or one of two pilots. It's gonna be strange sharin'"

Violet glances again at Alexa and smiles, laughing lightly before she catches herself. "Um, uh, wha? Oh. I wonder if it's some sort of... spiritual thing involving the Asgardians? There's some sort of... ascendance thing they do, I think? Maybe they're...kinda watching over us, and you're sensing them? I...I dunno..." She then nods to Miriya. "When the entire crew is here, we'll feel a lot more lively, I'm sure." She does raise an eyebrow at what Alexa says. "Well, we've got a couple of people being trained to cover for you in case you're unable to be here for some reason, but you are the main helmswoman. The other pilots we're talking about are the fighter pilots. Oh! Speaking of which, let's head there, it looks like they're arriving!" She motions towards the viewscreen at the incoming fighters.

Miriya scrutinizes the formation as it comes in. "If they mess up, I'll have to decide between issuing live ammo for the next exercise Or confiscating all figure collections.

Artanis frowns thoughtfully. "Perhaps. We Protoss have always been in tune with strong warrior spirits. These Asgardians do not sound so different from the Xel'Naga for instance." The Protoss rubs his chin as he follows along. "You will have to tell me more about them. The Asgardians."

Alexa blinks at Miriya. "Figure collections? What do you mean?"

Violet starts leading the group down to the bay. "I'm gonna suggest the figure collection part. I'd rather the fighters not get damaged unnecessarily, and honestly, the figures would probably hurt them more..." She sighs as Artanis asks about the Asgardians. "I wish I really knew, myself. This ship is from a fairly long series, and I'm not exactly made of time, so I've not been able to really see it properly, just look through files on it. But apparently they're some ancient guardian race that was dying out, and they gave the hu-" She frowns as she thinks a moment. "The humans from Earth. Earthers had a different name specific, Tau'ri or something. The Asgardians gave the humans from Earth access to their tech to keep it alive. Apparently it changed the... Tau'ri from being more or less backwater to being a group of intergalactic powerhouses."

Upon arrival at the docking bay, Violet makes her way to the VF-22 to stand in front of it as the other fighters come in.

Miriya nods "Miniature character figures, more pilots have those than have hug pillows. It's a much more credible threat, they'd rather die than lose their precious 'moes'"

Miriya straightens up and puts her helmet back on, as a swarm of VF 19s most of them with red dominating their paint schemes, start landing by the numbers in the bay. Activating the com systems, she uses the helmet link to their radios "Allright, get your Variable Fighters lined up. and grab your gear. We'll be bunking a deck below..." with a wave to the others she marches off towards the landing fighters,

Alexa looks to Violet. "Are figures and hug pillows some sort of pilot tradition here I ain't aware of?"

Violet sighs and shakes her head. "No... well, maybe. The NTSDF gets a lot of its recruits from anime and sci-fi fans, and with that comes... well, some odd behavior. I'm just glad I'm not from a series..." She watches as the pilots file out of the bay, then tilts her head. "Well... It's sure been a day... The rest of the crew should be arriving tomorrow, I think."

Alexa frowns. "And glad I ain't a.. main character I guess, from mine. 'Cause that just sounds distasteful." she chuckles, then smiles at Violet. "So is it awkward bein' formal with each other yet?"

Violet grasps at the air with her hands as she lets out an annoyed sigh and widens her eyes. "You have no freaking.... okay, I bet you actually do have a pretty damn good idea, but you get the point." She lets out another sigh before looking at the time. "I'm just glad I can call myself off duty in ten minutes. Artanis should be fine on the bridge by himself for now..." She watches as the Protoss warrior heads out of the bay. "Aaaaand, yes, looks like he's headed that way now... So I think I am going to head back to my quarters and throw off this uniform jacket and just stare out my window for a while with the lights off."

Alexa smiles. "Want some company? Maybe on the less formal side?" she chuckles.

Violet tilts her head and pretends to think about it. "Well, I suppose that sounds like a good idea, I think. I'll have to choose my company carefully, though. There are a few people that may try to take advantage of that kind of situation, after all. Tell you what, meet me in my quarters and we can discuss this further." She then drops the formal act and just grins at Alexa.

Alexa grins back. "Yes, Cap'n." she winks. "I look forward to it."
