Alexa was just finishing a shift, her replacement for the evening standing by the console. When Violet comes on the bridge, she offers her a little smile before finishing up. Violet holds up a finger to Alexa, indicating that she wait. She picks up the handset to her left and speaks into it, announcing over the intercom system. "This is Captain Karrde speaking," she says, using her title as captain of the ship rather than her rank of Lt. Commander. "Wake up, everyone. Welcome to a surprise drill. Our scenario is a friendly ship is out system, and we need to get out there to assist ASAP. Get moving, people. Engineering, get the generators humming, we're gonna need high power levels to get there fast." She hangs up, looking to Alexa and her would-be replacement with a slight grin. Alexa raises her eyebrow at the announcement, then grins at her replacement. "You heard her. Looks like you get some extra time off." The young man gives a sigh of relief and hurries off so Alexa can take her seat again. Violet holds up a hand as the other Ensign is about to leave the bridge. "Help out with navigation. We're headed to Laconis Prime." As other members of the bridge crew start filing in, Violet monitors the power output of the generators, nodding as they start to quickly rise. Alexa can't help but smirk as the replacement Ensign seems disappointed he's not getting the night off after all. She waits a few moments for the charts to come up on her console. "Ready to head out on your mark, Ma'am." Okay, the formal thing is getting a bit easier. Violet holds up a hand, motioning to hold as she continues to look at the power levels. "Hold for now, I want the generators to be steady..." She frowns for a moment as they fluctuate for a moment, but they soon enough stabilize enough that Violet nods. "All right. Navigation. Do we have a course set?" As she gets an affirmative answer to her question, Violet nods. "All right, then. Get the hyperdrive systems ready, engage on my mark. I want weapons and shields ready but for life's sake, do NOT fire on what you see out there." Alexa nods, holding position until the command is given. When it is, Lex hits the controls for the hyperdrive, maneuvering the ship forward as it accelerates rapidly. NTSDF Phoenix lurches forward suddenly, rapidly approaching what looks like a purplish-grey cloud that appears in front of it. As the ship and cloud collide, there's a bright flash and both are gone. Laconis Prime A greenish-grey cloud appears in space near Laconis Prime, from which quickly emerges the NTSDF Phoenix in a flash. The cloud vanishes just as soon as it had appeared. As the Phoenix appears, the station sends off a inquiry to the Phoenix, asking for it's ID as a flight of VF-24 Valkyries come around from the station. For those that haven't seen Laconis, it's an artificial world, and in orbit around it, is the Aerie, the base of the Athena and the Freelance Alliance. And yes, the Battlestar Athena is nearby and brings itself around as the Phoenix appears, but it's not arming it's weapons or launching fighters. "Stand down..ID confirmed." the voice of a Comm spec on the Athena sends to the fighters, "Welcome to the Aerie Phoenix." Violet addresses her ship's intercom system as she glances over the readouts on all her systems, noticing that everyone has reacted fairly well to her little surprise drill. "We have arrived in system. Good work everyone. Comms, send them a greeting back. They know we're friendly, but let's just confirm it for them." The communications officer behind her gets to work on relaying a thanks for the welcome and a request for connection to space traffic control. "Let me know if their admiral contacts us directly, he'll probably want to talk to me," Violet says. Alexa smiles a little to herself and says something in Chinese as the ship comes to a halt. "Not bad for my first jump. I think everything turned out shiny." And the massive form of the Colonial Battlestar comes along side the Phoenix, dwarfing it and a comm is sent over, "This is Athena Actual. Nice little ship." and you can hear the amusement in Jack's voice as he says that, "Feel free to come aboard Violet. Got someone here that wants to meet you." and as Jack puts down the handset he looks at Arika, "Well..you wanted to meet her." Violet smirks to Alexa, then listens Jack's transmission with a light laugh. "Is it all right if I bring a plus 1?" she comms back after sending an 'all clear' signal through the intercom, informing the crew to go back to their stations (or back to being off duty, for much of the crew). Arika glances sideways towards Jack, one hand resting on a teenaged girl's shoulder. "I thought it was about time," she says quietly. She'd be lying if she were to say that she wasn't nervous. It's not every day that one meets someone under such circumstances, after all. Scowling, the Ensign that thought he was going to get the night off heads back to the helm as Alexa stands up. Lex just smiles at him. "Sorry." Okay, maybe she's not really sorry. And Jack replies again, "Of course...sending coordinates for a beam in location now." Hmm..seems to be near the core of the ship. But not..even the Asgard sensors can't seem to penetrate the area..but it seems to read all clear. "See you and Lexa both when you get here." he says as he looks at Arika and Michi, "...I'm wondering how she'd react to meeting her sister.." he says with a thoughtful expression on his face as he hangs up the handset. Violet motions for Alexa to follow her, though once off the bridge she takes her hand into her own, leading her down to the transportation room. Sure, Asgard teleporters don't actually need to use the room, but the varied crew of this ship generally prefers to have a formal location for it. She give a glance to the engineer at the controls and asks, "Did you get those coordinates?" As the engineer nods, Violet nods back. "Then two to beam over." Alexa gets happily dragged along, but braces herself as they hit the teleportation room. Sure she's been teleported a few times now, but she's still a little queasy about it. The smaller girl, her hair the same fiery red as Jack's, grins fangly up at her father while bouncing on her heels, "I can't wait. I'll bet she's really cool if she's got her own spaceship." This, of course, Arika finds too endearing, as shows in her smile. Yeah, she's sure everything will be just fine. She busies herself with straightening Michiru's hair for the moment, which she doesn't seem to appreciate too much, but then's the breaks. And as soon as Violet and Alexa vanish and then appear, well, Violet would find herself looking at something familiar...the Millennium Falcon itself, seems that the location is the secret dock where the Falcon docks herself and also where she transfers her core to the Athena. The whole room feels alive almost with the pulse of a heartbeat. Also in the dock is Jack's private VF-27. And Jack sighs at Michi, "It's not just her ship..it's the NTSDF's. It's just been assigned to her. But..she does have one thing...a fragment of the Phoenix. Violet takes a step or two back, looking around as she blinks. "Well, can't be too surprised your around here, Pops," she says as she looks around more... and then blinks at the woman and teenager. "Uh, hello?" Karrde coughs a bit, "Violet..I want you to meet..well." he hmms. "Arika and Michiru. Michiru is your sister." he says with a sigh. One can tell he's still getting used to the fact he has ANOTHER kid he didn't bring into this world, that darn Phoenix. Alexa blinks at that. Just how big is this family anyway? Being how this isn't her show though, she stays quiet and watches, squeezing Violet's hand reassuringly. Arika wrinkles her nose a bit at Jack's penchant for technicalities. Yes yes, it's really the NTSDF's ship, but let a little girl have her fun. The mention of the phoenix does immediately pique her interest, though, and she nearly freezes at that. Then, as she looks upon the newly arrived Violet and Alexa, regarding them both, she smiles politely with a bow of her head. Michiru, on the other hand, tilts her head, and can't help but point out that, "Oneechan's got hair kinda like yours, mom." Arika doteyes. Well, okay. Green hair. "Pleased to meet you, sis!" Michi calls to her, "You can call me Michelle!" Arika must snap out of that and follow up with a, "Pleased to meet you both." Violet squeezes Alexa's hand back as she blinks at the revelation of who the two are. "Uhhhh.... It's... nice to meet you, Michelle, Arika... Um, yeah, I'm Violet...which you know... and this is Alexa, my girlfriend." She clearly was not expecting meeting the two at this time. Karrde looks at Alexa, almost like he can read her mind. And if he could read her mind, he'd answer 'I have no idea.' But he gives 'Rika a look and chuckles a bit. Yes, he knows his habit of technicalities is annoying, but it's part of him. And he gives Violet a look, "After we found Akiya's sister, 'Rika and Michiru pretty much moved in." and yes, you can tell he's still getting used to that. So much for getting his head on straight. Might explain why he's spending so much time in one of the Hanger Pods or the CiC. Alexa raises a brow at Jack, but shrugs it off. Not her circus. She does smile at the two new to her. "Ni hao. Nice to meet ya both." Michiru tilts her head, suddenly curious, her eyes are fixed on Violet's and Alexa's hands, and as she's about to ask her question's already answered. Just like aunts Aoi and Frey! "Hi!" she waves to Alexa, picking up the Chinese right away, "<Good too meet you, too!>" and following up with more for good measure. Oh, her daughter likes to show off, Arika knows. While this is a bit of an impromptu thing, she realizes, she's not at all displeased, regardless. She does look a little surprised for a moment, all of a sudden at the mention of her having moved in. What else would she do, after all! She gives Jack a little nudge for good measure. Violet blinks again. "Oh! Oh, wait, were you guys here a few days ago when Athena was around Mars? I mean, I wasn't able to be here that long, but... nevermind.... So! Yeah! Another sibling!" She looks over Michiru for a moment and then sighs, deflating slightly. "I'm still chronologically the youngest, aren't I?" Karrde hmms, "No...the eldest." he says with a shrug. "..Michiru's...uh..she's really." and he looks at Arika, "You wanna tell her or should I? I'm still trying to figure out how it works with how her DNA is." Alexa smiles rather brightly at the girl, speaking in Chinese still. "<Nice to see someone not look at me funny for talkin' the way I do. Thanks!>" She chuckles. Arika is picking up Alexa's and Michi's conversation without a hitch but with a hint of amusement. Her father is half Chinese, after all, so Cantonese and Mandarin were mandatory. They still are. Still, she might have been on Earth, as her family's all there. She does share the bit of Violet's awkwardness at getting to meet a new sibling, as she herself is meeting what could be her stepdaughter. Weird! "Michiru is nine years old," she straightens, "She has a little catwere in her, so her aging accelerated a bit so that she looks about 14." Ahem. Michi, in order to prove this point, has her normal human like ears suddenly pop out more or less out the top of her head in large black-furred cat ears, grinning all the while like it's the coolest thing in the world. Hey, she gets called cute all the time because of it. Violet raises an eyebrow. "Well, I'm still younger than Raven's kids. I didn't have..." She glances between Alexa and Michiru, clearly not understanding a word being spoken. "...I didn't have the years in between that they did." When Michiru's age is revealed, Violet sighs and facepalms with her free hand. "Yup. Still the youngest... I'm technically only eight." Glancing through her fingers, she starts slightly at the sudden change of ears. "Oh.... wow, that's... pretty cool." Karrde blinks a bit and tries to do the math, "Violet, wait..I was with your mother LONG before I met Arika." he says with a tilt of his head, "How.." and he sighs as he tries to figure that out. Alexa blinks at the cat ears herself. She's getting used to things here, but this one's still new to her. Guess this place still has a few surprises. "Cute! I um.. I'm just a normal borin' ol' human. I ain't special or nothin' like that." she grins. Arika thinks there's a story somewhere, regarding Violet's age. Something for another time, perhaps. She briefly scritches behind one of Michi's ears, triggering a mix between a purr and a giggle. "That tickles, mom!" protests the Michi, snickering and squirming away from her mother at the same time. Violet might be able to see it in her eyes, though. She's got that phoenix fire in her, too, and it's far more obvious in her mother. "It's okay!" Michiru grins up at Alexa, flattening her ears under her hands before her features scrunch up in a moment of concentration and said ears,disappear into her hair to reemerge inconspicuously human again. Arika adjusts her glasses, actually looking relieved to be standing before somebody normal for a change. Violet holds up her free hand. "Because I've not had as much time in between... It's like... With Raven's family... They spent some... nine? Ten? years between.... the fall, and when everything just... showed up again. I, on the other hand... only had a bit over two. So since I wasn't even six yet then, I'm now something like..." She thinks for a moment. "Roughly eight and a half?" She squeezes Alexa's hand as she turns her head towards her. "Don't ever say you aren't special, Love." Karrde hmms, "I see..so a temporal mess up. Because by all rights, you should be older." he says with a grimace as he remembers the circumstances of Violet's origin. Yeah, still something he hates. And he tilts his head as he gets a 'feeling'. "I'm needed in CiC." he nods at the Falcon, "Feel free to relax in the old girl. I gotta go deal with something. Michiru wasn't yet born when this dimension collapsed, so only knows what she knows from stories that have been told among her family and how they barely managed to escape. She still isn't allowed to view any recordings of the event, as her mother doesn't want for her to have nightmares about it. She does, for the moment, look disappointed as Jack is suddenly called away, "Aww.." Her ears would droop, if they were still kittylike. Quickly recouping, though, she grins up at him, already knowing how things go around here, "Go get em, dad!" Looking far more understanding, Arika merely nods with a bit of a disappointed smile, but she understands nonetheless. She's already becoming used to it. Brief absences are better than extended ones, after all. Given how the extended ones have had a much greater potential to become permanent. Watching him go, she turns back to Violet and Alexa, "Shall we go inside?" Michiru's already excited at the prospect of soda. Dad keeps the awesomest soda collection! Alexa looks at Violet and smiles, kissing her cheek. "Not what I meant, but thanks, darlin'." she chuckles. "I just don't have any powers or nothin'. 'Cept maybe the ability to drink the worst beer in the 'Verse and live." Violet blushes but smiles at the peck on the cheek, then frowns slightly at Jack suddenly being called away. She understands, though, the demands of command. As Arika speaks up again, Violet blinks and nods. "Uhhh, yeah, sure!" she says, still clearly a bit nervous about all this. It's really rather weird for her, still. "Well, it certainly beats my ability with alcohol," she says dryly to Alexa. Arika finds it rather cute, seeing Violet and Alexa together. Placing a hand on Michiru's shoulder, she nods to her to go on ahead into Falcon proper. Michi, eager to get her soda drinking on, turns and skips on and up the ramp. Pretty awkward this is, meeting new family, but a girl can't complain too much. She will have to meet Raven and her kids next, and hope that goes as well as this, remembering some things from many many years past. | |
