Alberto exits a little shack on the beach. It's nothing special, really, just a rundown little thing made of wood, covered in fishing equipment and some of the latest catches. If anything, Alberto himself stands out, as he's still dressed in his fine tuxedo and puffing away at a cigar, straightening his lapels as he lets the door slam shut behind him. Heaving a deep sigh, he steps down onto the sandy beach, beginning to make his way back toward the city proper... before a sudden and rather large wave washes over him and the beachhouse, leaving the gangster looking /very/ cross about his newly-ruined suit and smokes. Looking out over the ocean, he quickly sees the source of the problem: A giant metallic creature, appearing to be a fusion of several seaborne ships, rising from the ocean and making its way toward the shore with enormous strides.

"ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" the creature roars.

"Hijo de puta." Alberto grunts.

Red VF-19 is playing 'Follow my lead' with the Purple VF. One maneuver stands out. Flying full speed forward she flips backwards into her flight path like a wood chip in front of a leaf blower. Followed up with an immelman turn to bring back along her reciprocal.

Miriya comms, "The variable wing surface and movable thrusters give you much more acrobatic capability over simpler fixed wing aircraft."

Violet folds in the wings of her VF-22 slightly as she tries to duplicate the maneuver, and manages to pull it off. "Right. Copy. But are you picking up that blip near the boardwalk that I'm seeing?" She looks out over towards the shoreline to try to get a visual on whatever unidentified thing her sensors are picking up.

Red VF-19 rotates in the air until the canopy is upside down giving Miriya a clear 360 view of the ground even as she casts an eyeball at her radar screen. She Transmits back "roger, something odd. Lets get a closer look". She promptly folds her wings and drops out of the sky in an almost straight down dive.

Violet drops her ship in behind the VF-19, but clearly a little sloppily, wobbling a bit more than she should as she overcorrects at first. "Let's not fire first and ask questions later. Don't open fire unless it's very clearly attacking." Yes, she's slipping into her commander role now, even if she's not leading the flight itself.

The gigantic boat creature stops a moment to seemingly watch the two fighter planes as they close in and then circle around to look at something on the beach. It doesn't really know what they're looking at, but seems to regard them as a potential threat, raising two twisted steel arms as a set of anti-aircraft cannons materialize from those limbs. And then, with a series of deafening BOOMs, they begin firing on the twin Valkyries.

Meanwhile, on the beach, Alberto is busy patting himself down, trying to get the worst of the salty water out of his outfit to little avail. "Joder, this suit is dry-clean only, too..." he grumbles, tossing his soggy cigar aside before glaring at the planes overhead. "Tch, and now they're here too? Great, wonderful, just what I needed."

Following along on an early training flight in an actual VF-24, rather than simulations, Shirogane comes in quiet, trying to get a grasp on what this boat monster...thing is. As Violet commands, he holds on making any kind of attack as well.

Inside her cockpit, Violet actually facepalms with her throttle hand while she jukes to cannon fire. "Well then... nevermind what I just said... weapons hot, open fire." Her hand quickly returns to the throttle so she can better keep up with Miriya's maneuvers.

Red VF-19 does a loop de loop and a barrel roll. her pin point barrier spring into existence, the tiny force fields zipping swiftly to block any shots that actually hit the fuselage. To violet there is the laconic transmission. "They've opened fire, classing as hostile..." The Fighter suddenly erupts with flame and smoke as a least a dozen missiles spring away from it's gyrating form. They pirouette and swerve like a proper macross missile salvo and head straight for the attacking monster.

Purple VF-22 follows its flight leader's, well, lead, and lets loose a salvo of missiles as well. "Ensign Shirogane, are you good for combat? If you're not confident in your ability to keep that fighter in one peice, then keep your distance from this thing!" comms Violet to the still trainee.

As those explosive shells fly through the air and burst upon the beach, one heads directly toward Alberto, a great gout of sand erupting from where he's standing as it makes impact... but he wasn't there when it hit. A closer look will reveal that he leapt up at the last possible moment, much higher than any ordinary human could, and as he lands in the surf, he takes off across the waves, his feet pounding the water as if it were solid ground. And he looks positively livid.

Meanwhile, as the VFs engage the Zondarian menace, the creature roars its signature cry again, its voice seeming more aggressive than before, almost challenging these flying machines to /try/ and defeat it, go right ahead, it's /ready/ for them. The missiles slam into its hide with fiery explosions, the force ripping its body into pieces and scattering scrap metal over the surface of the sea, the monster's head blasted into so much debris. Is it over?

No, as it turns out, as strange cables lash out from within the remains of its body to pick up those pieces and drag them back into the mass, which simply /melds/ back into its previous shape before launching multiple vertical-launch missiles at the Valkyries from its back.

"If keeping it in one peice is what we're worried about, I'm sure it'll be fine," Shirogane replies, "...huh...self repairing? I wonder if we can do anything about those wires..."

"As if I'll let you! TAKE THIS! BREAST BUUUUUUUUURN!" cries a voice from the clouds as the massive Zonder unleashes that barrage of vertical-launch missiles at the Valkyries swooping above it, the clouds split apart by a crimson, v-shaped beam of searing energy hotter than the sun that sweeps across the path of the launching missiles as Great Mazinger reveals itself by burning away the cloud cover and boiling part of the ocean in front of the Zonderian with a single blast from its chest-mounted heatsink, aiming to temporarily cut off the beast's approach towards the shoreline.

From way above, the blue pegasus (sounds like a mecha-fighter, but isn't) spots the hugs battle going on below! Mazinger thundering down and zapping all out with his chest beam! Crazy freakin' monster regenerating itself! Explosion everywhere! danger! "Now we're talkin'!" Rainbow Dash goes into hyper drive and begins re-assembling the clouds Mazinger just blew aside! She begins pushing them together, more and more and the more she pushes them; the darker they get!

Purple VF-22 jukes and releases flares as the missiles are launched, but there's a massive simple pulling back on the stick, pulling away as the beam from the sky comes down. Violet quickly shifts her fighter into gerwalk mode to halt its forward progress. "The hell was that?!" she shouts over the comms. Your commanding officer, lady and gentleman. "Oh, looks like we got a super-robot class mecha..." She grimaces inside her helmet, then shakes her head. "I'm guessing its weapons outclass ours, so for the moment give him fire support, but stay on guard."

Red VF-19 streaks across the sky in a lightning zig zag pattern still spitting out missiles an performing maneuvers that should be beyond a human's tolerance for g-forces. Unless those missile's are much more agile than a wingless tube can be, they simply can't keep up as the variable fighter demonstrates the variable in it's name and changes forms to a hybrid human/fighter form and uses the directed thrust of it's thruster 'legs' to add spinning 'English' to her moves. the tumbling fighter now has the underbelly slung main gun pod in it's arms like a rifle and the repeating heavy beams lash out repeated as it's fired full auto. The lasers from the 'head' turret track independently and aim their quad fury at 'tentacles' that may be revealed. The Giant beam is avoided as well, the reply to Violet is clipped "Acknowledged. Switching to supporting fire. The hybrid form collapses back into a fighter jet and speeds away trailing chaff and flares as it opens the range.

"ZOOOOOOOONDAAAAAAAAAAAR!" the beast cries out in rage, its enormous steel frame twisting and groaning as it tries to follow these annoying flying things circling around it, cannons and missiles firing what seems like an endless salvo... until that wave of HEAT crashes down upon it through the clouds, all of those explosives detonating at once, both its own and those launched by the VFs. Its body is once again caught in the combined blasts, torn apart and scattered, but once again it simply pulls itself together, those scrapped seafaring vessels morphing like some kind of liquid around... what /is/ that glowing purple object in its belly?

"Perhaps a worthy enemy exists in this world after all! Have at thee, cabron!" Alberto shouts over the noise of battle, his voice carrying surprisingly well despite all the explosions and other assorted clamor. Leaping from the surface of the ocean, his hands crackle with black-and-red energy, his entire body spinning as he flies toward the creature like a man-sized drill and piercing straight through its body, emerging out the back. This wound, too, soon closes up, but now the monster is starting to turn its attention toward the gnat in the fancy suit, the others momentarily forgotten.

Hisako was back at Titans Tower when the latest giant mechanical-ish monster turned up - but when she caught wind of the news, she hurried out to the beach to lend a hand. Her motorcycle's been parked a few blocks further inland, the better to keep it out of harm's way, while the mutant girl jogs the rest of the way, activating her powers around the time she reaches the boardwalk. So when Hisako joins the fray, her psionically-projected 'armor' is scaled up pretty close to the monster's size ... and after Alberto tries to drill through it, she lets out a yell and swings a massive punch at the monster's face.

Within the Brain Condor docked within Great Mazinger's head, Tetsuya's eyes widen as Alberto takes off across the water, running so fast his feet don't sink below the surface. The man literally launching himself like a living drill directly at the metal beast.

. o O (What is that man? I haven't seen anyone capable of fighting like that since Baron Ashura. It couldn't be that he's also a Mycenean?) The situation being what it is, however, Tetsuya quickly pushes those thoughts aside, especially as the strange glowing core of the Zondarian is revealed.

"That must be the creature's core! Everyone! Cover Great Mazinger! I'll use his power to try and rip it free! Keep that beast from regenerating as much as you can!"

With that, Great Mazinger drops out of the sky towards the Zondarian, Tetsuya's eyes narrowing as he focuses his attention fully on the creature.

"MAZINGER BLADE!" The words echo across the sea and shore as one of the panels in Great Mazinger's legs fires a collapsed sword straight into Great Mazinger's waiting right hand, the blade expanding to full size, its Super Alloy New Z blade gleaming in the light as Great continues to drop towards the Zondar.

"Roger," Shirogane responds, his own fighter jet suddenly shooting upward and rolling in a way where he flies a distance further back from the boat monster robot thingy, and then turns to face it again. As he sees the boat robo self repairing again, but ALSO sees the glowy spot, he's a little torn. Firing at cables might at least slow down the self repair. But, hey, if this is like a certain thing from childhood suddenly appearing, giant, glowy spots means 'attack this weak point to kill it.' He can't waste must time debating though, and given that the glowy spot is likely a much easier target than the wires, it just seems like a better idea to use his still in training fire power with this thing to go for the easier target. Thus more shots are being fired on the glowy thing!

As Mazinger and Shirogane strike, high above, Rainbow Dash has gathered enough storm clouds! She the begins kicking the clouds, sending bolts of lightning down at the monstrosity with amazing precision! BOOM KA BOOM BOOooOOooom ba boom! maybe there's a reason the flying pony can be...somewhat cocky!

Purple VF-22 quickly shifts back into fighter mode to zoom off, only to Immelman up and around for a strafing run against the... thing. "Looks like we got a super-powered fighting it now, too... wait, scratch that, we've got two, no, three?" Violet glances downward through the screens that make her cockpit appear to not have a floor and frowns as she spots the purple light. Shaking her head slightly, she flips the fighter over upside down to open fire with its dorsal mounted laser as it passes by the beast. As the Mazinger dives down at the beast with its sword, she once again flips the fighter, this time shifting into full humanoid mode to bring its full arsenal onto the target. "All right then, time to hit it with an alpha strike, then!" Head and arm mounted lasers are accompanied by a pair of hand held rifles. She's not letting loose the missiles, however, there's too much of a threat of collateral damage to those not in mecha of their own. Her aim isn't precise, either, instead purposefully spread out to widen the damage and distract the thing's self-repair ability.

Red VF-19's range opening move is short lived. Following violet back into the fray the Red fighter continues it's physics defying dance across the sky zipping through irregular zig zags at full throttle as the pilot re-approaches the zondar. She holds her fire.... waiting for more defensive armament to be deployed by the creature. once more she sheds missiles and fires a mixture of laser beams and particle cannon this time aimed carefully at whatever weapon sprout from the monster.

The giant boatbeast seems to growl from the vibration of all those tons of steel grinding and twisting against each other, one of its arms swinging down at Alberto, seeking to crush the Spaniard under its mass. However, its attack is interrupted by another superpowered person as Hisako's psychic armored fist SMASHES into the creature's face, sending its entire body reeling from the blow and crashing into the waves. "Hmph! Thank you for the assistance!" Alberto calls out to Hisako.

Next up is the combined volley from the VFs and Rainbow Dash, with bullets and lasers and lightning bolts ripping through the Zondar's metallic flesh. Its next roar seems higher in pitch than the ones before, a mixture of pain and fury as it thrashes about, desperately trying to right itself. Its core is already well-covered again, but they certainly are doing an admirable job of tearing apart its protection!

Until, of its own volition, the monster's chest opens up to reveal men in sailor uniforms, several dozen of them, huddling fearfully within the hollow in its body, held in place by criss-crossing wires that writhe threateningly if any of them even look like they're trying to escape. Well, the stakes just got higher!

Great Mazinger lands in front of the Zondarian, the Mazinger Blade gripped in both of the machine's hands as it focuses its eyes upwards at the boat-shaped monster, "I'll finish you now, monster! Prepare yourself!"

Great Mazinger's feet dig into the floor of the ocean, the machine bracing itself before it begins to lunge forwards with the point of the blade towards where the core was just moments ago.

Then the Zondarian opens up its chest to reveal the chained, trapped sailors just moments away from death.

"...!" Great Mazinger freezes, the tip of its blade just a few precious feet from the Zondarian as Tetsuya's eyes widen. The firm grip on the controls loosens, sweat beginning to bead along his skin as memories start to rise in his mind. Innocent people strapped to a Warrior Beast, the Mycenean Monster daring him to attack, to doom the people to death. Tetsuya's blood feels like ice in his veins.

Violet shouts out, "Spit!" into her comm as she halts her attack. "Hold fire, hold fire. Lock down missiles, if you have a clear shot take it, but be /cautious/! We're gonna have to rely on the supers to get them out!" She glances over her shoulder at where Miriya's VF-19 is. "Unless you think you can extract them?"

Shirogane frowns heavily as the hostage tactic is revealed. His hands grip tightly at his controls, quickly dismissing the ideas to come to his head automatically. This isn't the arena, others will be hurt if he lets this get the best of him and doesn't think it through first. ...as much as he almost wishes he COULD just make the problem go away with his own two fists at the moment.

Rainbow_Dash spins around in the air, seeing hosatges! She can send more lightning down...but that might make things worse! She decides to try and block off it's exit route instead, bouncing across her storm clouds, she sends bolts down behind the beast, hoping to block it's retreat while the others below deal with the hostage sailor situation!

Hisako comes up short at the sight of the giant mecha-monster's 'hostages'. "How ..." She shakes her head briefly, then calls out to her allies, "I think I can do something about this!" She lunges towards the mecha-beast, pushing off hard with her armor's right foot - and then the armor itself shrinks down. Hisako's actual body keeps moving along the same leap, but by the time she reaches the wires, her armor's only about as much bigger than she is than, say, your average (male) bodybuilder. The exo-armor still has its super strength - maybe not as much as when she's mecha-scaled, but if she can start pulling some of those cables loose anyway and try to start freeing the hostages? 'Strong enough'.

Shirogane seems to be hit with a realization after his last thought. He then speaks to his superiors again, "...could I get permission to try something that might be risky to myself but not to the VF?"

Violet winces inside her cockpit, but speaks up. "You're gonna have to be more specific than that, Ensign."

The beast seems to have stopped thrashing so much now, seemingly confident in its victory as it once again stands to its full, immense height. "Tch! Just blast it already! Hostages or no, you're just throwing your own lives away!" Alberto chides the gathered heroes, throwing a bolt of that energy at the creature's head. With another angry roar, it starts firing its cannons at the gangster, who nimbly avoids each round by seemingly jumping off the very air itself.

However, that also provides plenty of distraction for Hisako to get into the thing's chest, where she finds the wires quite easy to snap... at least until they start lashing out at her, trying to wrap around her body and squeeze. Now that might be a bit more troublesome!

Hisako lets out a yelp as the cables start to wrap around *her* - or rather, around her armor. Which is ... honestly not as big a threat as if they were wrapping around her actual body; it's far from comfortable to have her armor subjected to the pressure, and if her powers lapse then she's going to be in a hell of a lot of trouble. Until that point, though, better her than the helpless sailors.

And on that note, she pits her mutant power against the cables, her armor enlarging again. It's not as fast as before, partly because she's got the compression to struggle against, but she's also trying to tear the monster further open as her armor scales back up ... of course, still trying to avoid hurting the captive sailors.

Shirogane furrows his brows. "I have an idea about trying to assist in helping the captives, but I can't do it from inside the VF. I have to get in a lot closer...like that person that's already down there working on those wires. My arm might be useful against it."

Sarah looked around, wondering if she'd heard right about something big happening on the beach.

Violet frowns as she dances her gerwalk moded fighter from side to side to keep herself a less obvious target. "All right. Go ahead. You know the procedures to set it to auto-landing, right? It should find its way to land at the beach..." She spots an opening to hit the thing again without hitting the hostages and fires with the high-powered dorsal laser.

Red VF-19 continues it's aerial ballet guns and rockets still aiming at the creature's own weapons. Attempting to disable it's a ability to counter attack.

Sarah turns and stares at the scene before her, trying to figure out what was going on.

Sarah couldn't help but wonder just what she could do to help. Almost none of her magic attacks would even dent that thing. That left two attacks, one of which drained a ton of magic to spam, and the other was just way to impractical here.

"Yes, I'll set the auto landing," Shirogane replies. On saying that he sets things up like he's been taught...and proceeds to air drop himself right down onto the big robo monster made of multiple boats. He'd run, jump and roll his way toward the area where the wires are keeping the hostages trapped. It all looks oddly athletic for a guy who's just got records of being a pilot for a peaceful little exploritory space mission. As soon as he's within reach of the 'bars' a big blade forms from his robotic arm, that he promptly starts using it's metal rending sharpness to attempt aiding with Hisako's work.

The Zondarian giant growls as those annoying defenders keep it from retreating, and what's more, one of those planes starts blowing up its weapons! Sure, it can spawn more, but doing so distracts it even more from what Shirogane and Hisako are doing in its chest. The wires, although quite strong, are pulled to their limits by the expansion of the Japanese mutant's psionic armor, which makes them all the easier to sever for Shiro. The sailors, upon realizing that they're saved, immediately brighten up and move to assist in any way they can!

Sarah raised a hand and snapped her fingers, a mug appearing and ascending as she hopped on. She needed a better idea of what was going on

The moment those sailors are freed it's as if a switch was flipped inside Tetsuya's mind. He snaps back into reality, his eyes focusing once again as he looks up at the Zondarian and...smiles. It's actually a little unsettling to see that look on his face, it's certainly not a 'nice' smile, at all.

"Now it's over, Monster! Face the power of the Great Hero!" Great Mazinger digs its rear foot into the seabed and the machine hurls itself forwards, slamming the tip of the Mazinger Blade directly towards the spot where the core was, aiming to cut away the armor in a twisting motion, like one would flourish a blade to give a salute.

"This fang of Super Alloy New Z should cut through that armor of yours so Great and I can rip out the core! Whatever you are, we won't forgive you for taking innocent sailor's hostage! PREPARE YOURSELF!" Tetsuya cries out.

Hisako is probably just as glad she can't see Tetsuya's smile right now - but she's focused on trying to keep ripping out those wires, making openings big enough for the sailors to escape, and so forth. With Shirogane pitching in to actually *cut* the wires, the mutant teen is re-encouraged; if she can get enough leverage to help expand the hole in the mecha-monster's torso, she's trying to do exactly that. If nothing else, she can prevent the hole from closing up again with anyone else trapped inside.

Rainbow_Dash resumes her ranged attack! Lightning strikes down from above, no longer just trapping the beach, but striking as she aims her strikes with kicks on the dark clouds above! Boom! Krak! kaboom! Poom!

Violet continues to dance her VF-22 around the Zondarian, sticking to gerwalk to give her a good mix of speedy maneuvering and ability to mostly hover. It seems when it comes to land based combat, her prior experience flying Gundams is still affecting her tactics as she isn't using the machine's speed to its fullest, but the nature of the machine is allowing her to make excellent pinpoint shots with that dorsal laser. "Reminds me of the old times," she mumbles off comm. She notes Miriya's continued use of missiles and growls slightly. "Lieutennant, watch those missiles..." As Mazinger makes its move, however, she rockets her ship backwards a moment before switching back to fighter mode to retreat faster. She has no idea what this enemy target actually is, and isn't about to risk herself when she doesn't see a way to get the others out to safety as well. She doesn't have the precision control with this machine to fly in that fast, pick up hostages(or her cheif gunnery officer) and fly out just yet.

Red VF-19 Transmits a simple "acknowledged" to Violet and switches to batteroid form while buzzing the enemy close. Suddenly aerodynamic as a brick the humanoid fighter drops out of the sky at the monster drawing her Beam Saber as she falls. The energy blade is brought quickly to bear as the mecha runs along the upper surfaces of the Creature hacking at cannon barrels and missile tails. Aparantly Zentraedi also train with swords.

The sailors make it out and down to the water soon enough with Hisako and Shiro's help, that hole kept from closing up thanks to Hisako's armor. And once they're free, the monster is open for Tetsuya's blade to pierce through its belly, ripping it right open. With what sounds like a cry of pain, the Zondar tries to open fire on its assailants, but the work of the Valkyries and Rainbow's lightning keeps any of its weapons from firing properly, leaving it to simply writhe about as it tries to keep up its regeneration. And now, Tetsuya can see that purple core deep within the wound he caused, a vaguely humanoid creature forming around it out of the metal surrounding it. It hisses at Great Mazinger, but cannot do much to stop Tetsuya.

And Alberto, in the meantime, takes his chance to escape.

Sarah just lets the mug float back down. This fight was over before she got here.

Great Mazinger leaves the Mazinger Blade impaled in the hissing Zonder, letting go of it and grabbing the glowing, spherical core with both hands. Then it starts to pull, heaving against the connecting cables even as the Zondar tries to pull the core back into itself with its powerful tendrils and self-regenerative abilities.

"I won't let you do as you please! MAZIN POWEEEEEEEEEEER!" Great Mazinger's eyes blaze at those words, waves of Photonic Energy beginning to pour from its body as the machine reinforces itself, its power plant pouring out more and more energy as its body bulks up, its internal systems reinforcing themselves through self-adaptation and evolution, strengthening itself much like the Zonder is as the first Black Box hidden within unlocks. TRRAAANNZOOOORRRRRRR ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
