Idk if BonsaiTreehouse can back me up, but when I was working on the soundtrack, I had to convert each file I wanted to use
So TL:DR- It's possible, but with a tedious extra step
I used Adobe Premiere to edit the Khufu clips (each housing multiple chapter scenes) and splice the audio together while separating them from the video. Same goes for the Gatekeeper DVD clips. This is entirely because of the file formats I was working with as opposed to the VHS clips where I could just rip the audio from a convenient online ripper and insert directly into Adobe Audition or Audacity instead.
I don't know what kind of software you were using on your end Nons (though I am curious), but I personally found that I didn't need to convert the DVD clips beforehand and don't recall experiencing stuttering between clips or chapters during my editing sessions.
The DVD clips by themselves can be played in their originally intended fashion however, jumping to all the correct scenes even after being ripped entirely to PC storage. Don't know if anything besides VLC media player can do it or if such a player can be used in conjunction with Tabletop Sim, but it can be done. Even the menu selection stuff works just fine too.
