Finding Fonts used for the Games

Postby SavageXtreme » Tue May 11, 2021 4:56 am

So its come to a thought from BonsaiTreehouse that some of us could try and identify the different fonts used for the games. While it may not be easy, there is a number of different fonts that resemble the real deal. So far I believe the Papyrus font seems to have been used for the Atmosfear DVD logo.

This is the closest thing I could find used for the Nightmare cards, keys and board:

Credit to Bonsai for finding this used in the Greek Atmosfear:

Here's what I found to be the closest matches for the classic Nightmare logo (EDIT, added Gotisch):
- Gothique MN: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itfmecano ... e/regular/
- Medici Text: https://www.dafont.com/medici-text.font ... ar&psize=l
- Gotisch FS Regular: https://www.whatfontis.com/NFS_Gotisch-FS-Regular.font

There is another font mixed in with the "Video Board Game" text part of the game logo and selectively placed on the UK/EU versions of the Time/Fate/Chance cards as well as the marking pencil, possibly to make the tiny writing more legible. For the life of me, I can't find what that one is.

The DVD Atmosfear logo text is actually:
- Sava Pro Semibold: https://www.fonthaus.com/fonts/monotype ... MI16786253

And the brand new App-mosfear logo is:
- Mona Lisa Solid OS: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itc/mona-lisa/solid-os/

That's the real deal, I knew I had that font saved somewhere in my PC.

I'm sure there's a link where the font can be downloaded for free, see if I can dig around for it.

I've been designing some custom cards for the VHS games that read out certain things like character names, numbers, role actions etc.

Though its slightly different than the two fonts similiar to the Nightmare logo, it could be considered an alternate variation:

I found one more font, from the American/Australian versions of the instruction sheet:
- Romic: https://fontsgeek.com/tagged/styles/romic

The brush hand style font used for the American/Australian cards, keys and board spaces looks to be custom-made for each inscription, since the letters all look to be "drawn" slightly differently to eachother (the Es, As and Rs vary subtly in shape).

The slightly ornate font used in parts of the "Video Board Game" title text, the American/Australian card descriptions and on the marking pencil is nowhere to be found and I used every in-depth font identifying program the internet has to offer. I may just have to recreate it myself if I can lol

Did we ever pinpoint which font The Harbingers used? I remember I once discovered it in the default fonts accidentally
