It starts with his grandfather several years ago. Nathanial Webb was a doctor and geneticist. One thing he always wanted was super powers. Nathanial wanted to use those powers to amass power and influence for himself. He wanted to eventually try to take over the world. To that end, he began to experiment on himself and several lab rats. While he got some minor results in the rats, Nathanial did not develop powers of his own. He needed more human test subjects and wasn't willing to risk himself. He was willing to try using his wife. Slipping things into her food and occasionally swapping her medicines, Nathanial began testing formulas on his wife. Aside from almost accidentally killing her, Nathanial's experiments provided nothing. He cut back on his research when he found out that his wife was pregnant. A few years later, Nathanial included his young son as a test subject. When he failed to produce results, Nathanial's obsession grew. He was forced to cut back due to his job taking up more time though. As such, life proceeded as normal and Nathanial returned to working on rats and other small animals with no results. Time went on and eventually, Nathanial's son grew up and moved away. He met a wife of his own and had a son. Ethan Webb. Unknown to anyone, Ethan was special. The series of experiments failed on their own but when all combined together, they formed Ethan and his telekinetic powers. They first manifested when Ethan was an infant, unknown to all, as he'd spin the mobile above his crib. Ethan himself didn't become aware of them until he was a toddler. Sitting out in the backyard, Ethan was just playing by himself in the grass. His mother went inside to answer the phone and the neighbor's cat wandered over. It pounced on a little snake in the grass near Ethan, scratching and scaring the toddler. He reacted by telekinetically flinging the cat across the yard. Of course, the cat's reaction to this didn't help Ethan much, leaving the poor kid scared. The fact that the elderly neighbor saw this and labeled him some kind of freak didn't help either. Luckily, Ethan's parents didn't believe the woman. Life proceeded as normal, Ethan entering school when he got to the right age. He took an immediate shine to art, not making too many friends at all. It was in second grade that Ethan next displayed his abilities. Several other kids were picking on him. He lost his temper and knocked all the kids on their backsides. They ran off and Ethan went to hide. While none of the adults believed the story and Ethan escaped punishments, the other kids began avoiding Ethan. The experience convinced him that he should hide his abilities and not use them. They became Ethan's dark little secret, only ever used in the privacy of his own room. It was around this time that Ethan's father was transferred to another office. This meant it was time to pack up and move from their nice suburb in New York State to one in New Jersey. One in the Atlantic City area specifically. It was here that some more major events happened to Ethan. His mother developed a gambling problem that put his family into financial trouble. Ethan was also given his first WACOM drawing tablet which allowed him to become introduced to a website where he could display his art. Shortly after that, he found that people liked it and wanted more. Some were even willing to commission him for specific pieces. And while it did take him some getting used to, Ethan has been able to make a decent amount of money with his artwork that he's used to both help his family and pay for a few things for himself. It was one of these commissions that got Ethan interested in the 'capes and tights' scene. He was asked to draw a picture of Superman rescuing the commissioner. Despite finding this particular request a little strange, Ethan went along with it. He clicked onto the internet and started searching. A few days later, the picture was up and ten dollars were in Ethan's bank account. This opened the flood gates. Requests for more pictures of heroes and even villains were coming in quickly. And while Ethan was appreciating the cash flow, he was getting a little distracted. Sure the Justice League had saved the world and all that, but because Ethan was never directly affected by any of that craziness, he never paid much attention to it. He had his own problems and he doubted he'd ever need to worry about the Legion of Doom and the JLU throwing down on his front porch. But the more he read, the more he began to think. There were all these men and women with special gifts. They weren't hiding them or running from them, they were using them! Out in public! And it convinced Ethan that he should try to use his more as well. He took an especial shine to the Green Lanterns, admiring their power and general ways of doing things. Determined, Ethan moved onto the training phase of his plan. For a year and a half, he'd sneak off when he wasn't needed at home or school to the old junkyard or some of the brush out by the freeway. He worked on controlling his telekinetics, flight, defensive shielding, get used to his spatial awareness, and basic attack plans. By the time he was ordering pieces and supplies for his costume, Ethan found out it was time to move again. His father was getting another transfer, this one asked for to get his mother away from Atlantic City. Several weeks later, the day right after Ethan got the last box he needed to put together his costume that he was tasked with moving some boxes from the basement while the rest of the family went out to take care of some errands. It was while he was moving boxes lazily with his powers that he tried to lift one only for it to break and spill its contents onto the floor. Among the contents was a box of ball bearings. Taking the metal objects to use as part of his heroics, Ethan finished the task. A few days later, Ethan and the family hopped into the moving van that was rented as well as the family cars and were off to their new home, Metropolis. ==Personality== Cheerful - Ethan tries to be upbeat. He's the type of guy that does his best to keep a smile on his face and bring cheer. While he's not comedian, he tries to keep jokes ready and likes to see happy. Of course he's not always good at pulling this off. Doubt - Something that Ethan has trouble believing is that he's 'good enough'. He always worries that he'll not live up to the task and fail. Be it his art or his heroics, he's nagged by the feeling that he's not good enough and will try to convince himself that he's doing well. Little Weird - Maybe its because he's an artist, but sometimes Ethan will just be a little weird. He'll go off on random tangents in a conversation or just space out. Sometimes, he can be heard mumbling to himself or just humming a little tune. Ethan's just got his own way of doing things sometimes. Optimistic - He knows he's gonna make mistakes and that some things are going to go wrong but Ethan likes to look towards a better tomorrow. He believes that in the end, good will beat evil even if he knows the road will be a bumpy one. He may mess up but he'll admit it and then say he's gonna try to be better for the next time. It's not easy to break his spirits. Hope - Though he says it had nothing to do with his decision to take up the heroic scene, ever since he started putting on the costume Ethan developed a bit of a goal for the future. He's working to put his powers to good use and hopes to one day be among the great heroes in the Justice League and other such groups. Stubborn - When he sets his mind on something, Ethan can be difficult to dissuade. He doesn't become completely unreasonable, but it takes a lot of convincing to get him to change his mind. ==Logs== *2012-02-03 - Mirrors are More Fun than Television - Batman, hunting a criminal in Metropolis, runs into an unusual supervillain, and a brand new hero. *2012-02-06 - It's Not Hogwart's - Superman meets a new hero, and considers with Batman the best way to deal with him.
