'''Krypton''' was a highly advanced planet in a distant solar system.  It orbited the red star called Rao and was the sister planet to [[Argos]].  The supercomputer that helped maintain day-to-day life on the planet, [[Brainiac]], chose not to warn the Kryptonian populace about an impending geological disaster.  The planet was subsequently destroyed in the cataclysm, with the only survivor being an infant called [[Superman|Kal-El]].
