Marrow & Yoikko

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Name: "Marrow"
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Spouse: Christine (Deceased)
Current Residence: Tavern of Evil

Marrow is a half zombie from another time and place. His government betrayed him, killed him, and experimented with his corpse. They revived him as a cybernetic techno-soldier intended to be sent into enemy territory as an unstoppable killing force. But, his memories soon returned and he managed to escape.

After retreating, Marrow encountered the undead forces of a demon named Death Card, who wanted Marrow as a way to crossover into the world of the living. When Marrow refused and attacked Death Card, the demon cursed him to wonder around lost forever.

During his travels, Marrow encountered a were-wolf by the name of Serafine, who helped him to end his wondering. Only now he is forced to stay in Serafine's realm until Death Card's curse can be lifted. Now he hopelessly searches for a way home...

Marrow currently resides in the Tavern of Evil. He has become an alcoholic and has become a very poor fighter. He still remains in close contact with Serafine's ghost (She recently died). Marrow has more-or-less adopted a mildly psychotic girl by the name of Yoikko who seems to listen only to him.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Name: Yoikko Merdick
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Current Residence: DECEASED

Yoikko is the daughter of one of the others who was captured with Marrow. After her father died Yoikko went off to live with some of her friends. What she was not aware of was that her friends were followers of Death Card.

When her father was brought back by the same experiment that revived Marrow, he went off to find her. After an intense battle with the followers of Death Card, Yoikko's father was killed again, this time beyond repair. As a debt to him, Marrow agreed to look after his daughter.

When Marrow became lost in Serafine's world, Yoikko searched for a way to bring him back; instead she became entangled into Death Card's curse herself. She then lived with Marrow in the Tavern of Evil.
Unfortuntily, Yoikko recently crossed paths with the demon Death Card, and did not survive the encounter.
The story of her death is as follows:

Over the past year Yoikko Merdick had grown accustomed to life in the world she had begun to call home. She had met many people and had gained many friends, for the first time since her father's death she finally felt happy.
Yoikko looked up from her work at Spatula City to see a great whirl wind appear outside the doors. It was as if the gates of Hell had suddenly opened up to her. Then the lights blinked off, leaving Yoikko lost in the barely lit store all alone.
Without warning the whirl wind vanished taking with it the only source of light. Yoikko sat in the darkness for what felt like an eternity until finally a dim light began to flow around the edges of the front door. Slowly, the doors creaked open to reveal the small figure of a man in robes. In his hands was a large crystal which gave off a strange greenish glow.
The man looked up at Yoikko and as he did she realized that is wasn't a man at all, but actually a creature in disguise. Horns of some type tore out of his face at odd angles leaving a demonic grin etched into his face.
"Hello Yoikko..."
"How did you know who I am? Who are you?"
The creature began to laugh gleefully, "I am DeathCard. I've come along way to finish what I started so long ago..."
Suddenly remembering the creature from Marrow's stories, Yoikko backed away from the creature. Without seeming to move, DeathCard slid across the floor after her. He stopped just inches from her face. His robes hiding any indications of his movements.
"Wh-What are you going to do?, " Yoikko gasped.
"I'm going to finally put an end to this Marrow business once and for all. I'm going to personally eliminate all traces of his home world to ensure that this time he will not escape."
"But, what does that have to do with me?"
"Your going to be my warning to anyone who dares to oppose me..."
"What does that have to do with me?"
Suddenly, DeathCard's smile seemed to grow larger. He lifted the crystal up to her face and chanted a strange phrase. In response the crystal began to grow warm. He then pressed it up against her face where it began to grow hotter still.
"Yoikko, that means you die...."
Her last thoughts were of the terrible heat of the crystal and the horrible smile upon his lips.
