Gonfei is behind the bar, as is usual for him at, uh, the Usual. Right now, those at the bar have their needs already met, so the red-headed bartender is perfectly fine with standing behind the bar waiting patiently for someone else to need him, be it for drink or conversation.

Roma walks into the UR, looking at a map. Yes, of Neo. Tilting her head as she adjusts her glasses she hmms, "Okay..guess I'm at the 'Usual'." she says with a nod and she hmms as she goes to sit at the bar looking at everyone as she makes her way.

Gonfei smiles as Roma sits down nearby and greets her with, "Welcome to the Usual Restaurant! Is there anything I can help you with?"

Roma hmms and looks at Gonfei and tilts her head. "Uh..I'll have a..uh.." she hmms, "Beer. Yeah, a beer." she says with a nod. Okay, acting kinda odd, but hey, all types are around here.

Gonfei looks at her for a moment, especially with the odd behavior. "I'll need to see your ID for that, miss."

Roma tilts her head and hmms as she pulls one out. "Sure. This is the right one, right?" she asks as she offers it and she mutters something about humans and how it's so different from the shows she's seen.

Gonfei pauses a bit more as he looks at the ID, turning it over, looking back up at Roma... then lowering below the counter, to a scanner hidden there. Yeah, you think anyone can keep track of all the ID nuances that you'll come across in NeoTokyo? "Yyyyeah, that's what I thought... It's a pretty good fake, I'll admit. But you're not buying. Might I suggest a smoothie or juice cocktail instead?"

Roma tilts her head, "What're those?" she asks simply, "I was recommended a beer buy a couple guys at another bar. But I think they had other plans.." she muses as she taps her chin. Hey Gonfei, if you can sense life forces..she's not putting one off.

Gonfei smirks slightly and shakes his head. "I'll bet they did. Smoothies are fairly thick drinks, made from a mix of fruit juices, ice, and usually milk, sometimes with some pureed vegetables thrown in as well. A juice cocktail is just, well, juices from various fruits."

Roma hmms, "The cocktail sounds..okay." she says with a shrug. And she hmms, "So I need to get a different ID?" she asks as she looks at the one she used..which turns to dust and seems to flow into Roma's finger.

Gonfei frowns at the ID turning to dust. "Yes. A real one." He pulls a card out from under the counter, showing a small map and address for NeoTokyo's equivalent of the DMV, and slides it across the counter to Roma. "Don't ask me how, but they can determine biological age there. They should be able to get you an ID that's actually valid. Just tell them you want an ID, not a licence, and they should take it from there." He then does smile again. "But the juice cocktail I can help you with. I'm going to... take a guess that you don't have any preferences as to what goes into it? Or would you know generally if you're looking for something sweet, sour, or bitter?"

Roma hmms, "No preference." she says with a shrug. "I'm..still getting used to a lot of this. I know I like buttered popcorn and root beer, but not much else." she says with a shrug.

Gonfei goes off to make a mix of various berry juices, then mixes that with tangerine juice. He slides the glass to Roma across the counter and says, "Enjoy!" Before pausing as he realizes just what Roma had said. "Wait, getting used to having an eating choice?"

Roma looks at Gonfei, "No..eating." she says simply as she grabs the glass. "I'm a..." she hmms, "What was I called again? Oh yes, a AI. Granted I'm a lot more advanced than the ones back home." and she forms a holo of a WW2 Italian Littoro class Battleship, "That's me."

Gonfei blinks in surprise and then peers at the battleship. "...Italian?" he asks, then looks back at Roma herself with a questioning look. "Well... you must be pretty advanced to be able to eat at all? The most advanced ones at my home didn't seem too interested in taking humanoid forms at all, let alone being able to eat..."

Roma hmms, "Well, we didn't use to take human form. But after a 'event' we decided to assume a human form, to learn about humanity." she explains with a shrug. YEah, best not tell Gonfei that the 'event' in question was a massive naval battle where the Fleet of Fog wiped out the world's navies, he might not like that. "And yes..Littiro class Battleship. One of three, I was in command of a unit of me, a couple cruisers and some destroyers."

Gonfei stands up a bit more straight, then nods. "{While I'm from the area, I was actually fighting for the Americans in the war,}" he says in Italian. Apparently, he's assuming that in her world, the ships just all had AIs in the Second World War. Different worlds and all... this /is/ NeoTokyo.

Roma grins and replies in kind, "{The war had long ended when we came along. Late 21st century when we came along. You know all those legends of Ghost Ships? That was us.}" she then shrugs, "..We watched and looked over humanity. Then..things happened."

Gonfei raises an eyebrow at that. "I get the feeling that things didn't go well at that point, and you'd rather not talk about it, then?" He nods, then gestures towards the drink. "Well, see if you like the mixed berry and Tangerine cocktail, then. Of course, every human has different tastes, as I'm guessing you've already found.

Roma hmms and nods and sips the drink, "I hate whiskey. But I like wine. Oh..and sodas..cherry coke to be precise." she says with a impish grin. "..And I love tacos."

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "I thought you just knew you liked buttered popcorn and root beer."

Roma hmms, "THose are my favorites. Also I love classic movies." she says with a grin.

Gonfei tilts his head, smiling as he does. "Aaah, I see. So have you only had tacos, or have you tried the full array of Mexican food? Personally, I consider their cuisine to be second only to Italian."

Roma hmms, "I'll have to try it. But, my sense of taste needs work. We're still learning how to be human..there's a lot to do." she says softly.

Gonfei shrugs lightly. "Well, you're already on the best way to learn, I think. Just get out there and live among them. Live /as/ them, really, is the best way. I'd say from what I've seen so far you're well on your way."

Roma nods, "I might do that. Maybe get a apartment in the city, one of our own..Takao, did that and lived among humans for a while. A lot of us used info she dropped on the network to learn about them."

Gonfei nods to Roma. "I'd highly suggest it. I don't know what else you can really do to learn... Taking just a data dump will only give you one person's perspective... I'm sure she only gave information on things she personally liked or disliked. If she integrated well, she likely would have forgotten the basics... which, of course, I can't tell you, because I wouldn't think about it, either."

Roma shakes her head, "No..she went fully into detail. But then she was always a odd one, there were rumors that she went ashore and lived among humanity was because she was curious and she met a human and well..fell for him."

Gonfei shrugs. "Well, I say she found out a lot about being human, then. If she felt that attached, I think she understood pretty well. The way I see it... It doesn't matter between species like that, unless there's some actual physical dangers." He blinks, then shakes his head. "Well, not that you're a species? I mean... you know what, I sometimes have no clue what I'm talking about. I'm not sure what defines species or not."

Roma hmms, "Well..species is part of a race, a existence, and the Fleet of Fog are a existence, we have being, we make choices, we are made up of our choices. And if Takao, the I-401, and Kongou can learn and grow, then I guess we are a species." she says with a shrug.

Gonfei pauses a moment to consider, then nods. "I guess so. Then like I said, if there's no physical danger to it, then Takao was probably better off for falling for a guy...." He then frowns slightly. "You know... as long as he wasn't some kinda asshole."

Roma hmms, "Chihaya Gunzou, was...interesting." she hmms a bit. "For a young man he was highly intelligent, a tactical genius, and a skilled commander. From a tactical standpoint he would have been a good match for her. But I think it went deeper than that." And yes Gonfei, her mannerisms seem to be changing..become more professional in a way, the unsure attitude fading.

Gonfei raises an eyebrow slightly as her mannerisms change. "Of course it went deeper than that. You can admire someone from a tactical standpoint without actually liking someone, you know." He glances away slightly. "Believe me, I know." He then shakes his head before looking back to Roma. "And the opposite is completely true, as well. You don't fall for someone just because of stuff like that. It might help, sure, but if that's it, you're just making another tactical decision, not actually falling for them."

Roma hmms at Gonfei, and nods a bit, "Perhaps..but then, the Fog's only assumed human form for about 12 years or so thereabouts." she explains with a shrug, "And many have developed quirks. Maya, of the Oriental Fleet loved music, always played piano. Hiei, also of the Asiatic fleets, was obsessed with school, even patterned her unit into something similar to a 'Student Council'. Haruna collected words, meanings, sayings all of those. And I like classic movies."

Gonfei shrugs. "People have quirks. It's only natural to assume people that have been separate from the rest of civilization for much of their lives are going to be even more quirky. So of course they are. There's nothing wrong with it. Being a musician, liking old movies, liking word play and quotes, those aren't really that quirky in the long run." Note no comment about patterning a unit into a student council.

Roma hmms, "I suppose. But again, we're still learning." she says with a shrug.

Gonfei reaches over to poke Roma in the forehead, unless she stops him. "My point exactly. Just keep learning, you'll get the hang of it. You're mostly passing for human as it is, if that's your goal."

Roma eeps from the poke, her eyes crossing a bit, "Hey." and she hmmphs a bit as she sips her drink. "Isn't that all we do? Learn as we go?"

Gonfei nods sagely. "Yup. Pretty much. That's what all sentient folks do, human or not. So did you learn what you think of mixed berry and tangerine juice cocktail?"

Roma hmms, "It's not bad..it's got a tangy taste to it. But I like it." she says with a smirk.
