Shadow and the Rose | ||

Summary: It seems some poor girl just arrived in NeoTokyo by herself... but she's not the only new arrival... Who: Cammy, Caracol, Rainbow Dash, Rose When: August 5th, 2017 Where: Neo Tokyo Central Train Station |
Rainbow_Dash comes zipping into the station! She looks around, floating in mid-air, her face puzzled. "The hay was THAT?" She zooms around the station as if looking for something.... For the recently re-christened fighter known as Cammy, the lateness of the hour does little to impede her. In fact, she's just on her way through on a nightly walk through the city as she tries to figure out where one part of it stops and another starts, given how patchwork the city seems. She spots Dash and raises a brow as she zooms all over the place. What's got the prismatic mare in such a flurry? One train stops and disgorges its inhabitants, including one blue-haired girl who looks like she's barely reached her teens, if that. She looks distractedly at her phone as she steps out onto the platform and quite absent mindedly walks on down the platform and directly into a pillar. "OOF!" She blinks and looks around her, suddenly looking quite confused. One thing Cammy has learned since coming here. People are just as absorbed in their cell phones as they are in her home dimension. Still, she's never seen someone smack into a pillar before. Talk about no sense of one's surroundings! "Query; Are you damaged?" she asks in her usual emotionless near-monotone. Rainbow_Dash blinks as the girl walks right into a pillar! She can't help but laugh, "Hey, watch where you're going kid!" she then resumes her search of the station....she stops short as she peers down into the tunnel...her vermilion eyes narrow just a little. "Hmmmm......" Rose scrunches up her nose and rubs her forehead. "M'fine. Just got off the wrong station, it looks like," she mumbles. She then slowly turns her gaze towards the other voice that seemed to call out to her. And her look of confusion gets much, much stronger, one eye open wide while the other brow lowers. "...Or maybe not. I might have hit that pillar harder than I thought..." "This unit suspects you have come further than you suspect." Cammy says, figuring the girl's response to be to Dash's appearance as a pegasus. On the subject... "Query; What are you doing, Rainbow Dash?" Rainbow_Dash says, "Somethin' creepy.....like a shadow thingie just zipped down here. I think it went down that tunnel..maybe..." she gets a visible shiver down her back." Rose just looks back and forth between the oddly dressed woman and the... rainbow haired pegasus. "I'm gonna... go sit down for a minute..." She doesn't even want to ask about a 'shadow thingie.' Looking slightly bewildered, she looks around for a park bench to sit down on. Upon spotting one, she then predictably walks over and sits down there. Cammy looks around the station. "This unit did not detect anything of that nature. Are you sure you didn't simply see your own shadow?" Rainbow_Dash says, "No way! And..there's something familiar about it...just feels weird...." Caracol is in his usual FAILURE of an attempt to not stick out. That is to say that he's trying to hide his features as much as possible....which just makes him look suspicious cause he has to go full on Assassin's Creed or Jedi or something else that's all shadowy and wearing a heavily drawn forward hood and all. Caracol is also likely sitting somewhere, but probably not where Rose chose to sit, or she'd have likely noticed. Cammy frowns, still looking around. She spots the robed individual, but as he doesn't seem to be...well, DOING anything, or giving any hint of hostility, she largely ignores him. Besides, Dash indicated something made of shadow. So she's more in the mindset that she should be looking for something flat. "Familiar in what way?" Rose sighs and looks upward, putting a hand to fer forehead. "Funny. It doesn't really hurt at all," she mumbles to herself. She closes her eyes for a moment. A deep throated voice roars from within the darkness of the tunnel. "RaAAaaaaaiinnnnnnbooowww Dassshhhhhhhh!" in a voice that sounds a bit like Darth Vader! A blurred tangle of writhing smoke shoots back out of the tunnel..."Like...like I know it!" she yalps, the dark shadowy form just missing her as she dodges! Rose opens her eyes again as she looks over at the commotion. "...I don't know, this doesn't... feel like a hallucination..." The strange shadow thing that makes its appearance instantly has Cammy moving to a battle stance. "Combat initiating. Enemy identification; unknown. Status; unknown. Nature; Unknown. Proceeding to primary combat objectives." Her prime directive is clear; learn all she can about potential opponents. This would have been just street fighters from her world. But given the situation, it seems her programming has adapted at least a LITTLE bit. She also decides to use the environment to her advantage, kicking a nearby trash can at the substance, trying to figure out what powers the thing has, what kind of reaction time, etc. Rose deadpans, "Aaaaaand now there's a fight in the subway station. Yup. This day is getting better and better." She groans and facepalms again. "I'd argue this was a dream, but if it was, I'd think this would make SENSE." Caracol hops up to his feet, coming over keep a closer eye on things. "Are you alright, Rainbow?" The black figure is fast, but also doesn't seem at all solid! It flits away from the incoming trash can and.....zeroes in on a small rat lurking under a bench; it seems to pour itself into the small rodent, growing larger and more powerful; large black crystal spikes protruding from it's enlarged form! Rainbow dash seems to go a little pale. "Oh....geez..this isn't good...." The black crystal rat roars and smashes the bench into splinters! "FrEeEEeeeeee...FREE!" Cammy has seen weird things in her world. But this is something altogether weird, even by her standards. The smoke has become some kind of....crystal rat? She blinks in utter bafflement. What the hell is so obviously written on her face that it's almost comical. Especially given her usually emotionless behavior. She looks at Dash curiously. "What is it?" Rose peeks between her fingers at the roaring crystal rat. "Urg. Well..." She sighs and stands up again, facing the rat but backing away as she reaches into a pocket hidden into the folds of her skirt. Rainbow_Dash says, "Yeah...I'm okay...its...LOOK OUT!" She moves to knock Caracol out of the way as the Crystal Rat begins firing black shards! Everywhere the hit, darkness begins to grow! "RaIiiiiiiinbooooowww Dassh....YOU WILL PAY! You and all of your ilk! I will destroy you all!" "He's after ME! I gotta get out of here before..."" Rose blinks again as the shards start getting fired. "Nope! I'm out!" she calls out as she ducks behind a pillar, then crouches low to the ground in hopes that the CRYSTAL SPEWING RAT MONSTER doesn't notice her. Cammy isn't just good at fighting, she's also light on her feet, and so she manages to dodge a good chunk of the shards, as well as batting many away with her gauntlets and boots. Strength like hers probably comes in more handy that most people realize. After all, the girl can shatter wood, brick, and cars, like many others of her world. "Combat initiated. Identity; unknown. Known attack method; projectiles. Type; unknown crystalline construct. Threat status; low to medium. Engaging." And she does, ripping a metal bench from its moors and using those powerful legs of hers to KICK the thing full force at the rat's head! Caracol oofs gently as Dash pushes him over. It's no big. He gets back to his feet and raises a hidden brow. Apparently Dash forgets that time he helped her make a big wind storm to get rid of some mystery fluid that might contaminate the ocean. "How bad IS this really, Rainbow," he asks, "On a scale of one to ten, where ten means the death of all the civies in the city...?" The Shadow Rat seems to be targeting Dash! Which leaves him open to a bench across the head! "Gaah! YOU DARE!?" He roars, turning his attention to Cammy and firing black shards at her! 'This it totally bad, like, 20% worse!' she shouts, she has to do SOMETHING! As the shadow beast focuses on Cammy, Dash speeds to slam in the back! Rose doesn't seem to be a target right now, so she's not doing anything to draw its attention! On the other hand, she looks more annoyed than scared. Cammy's no dummy. She's strong enough to shatter steel and other things. But depending on speed, even SHE has limits. She does the smart thing and dodges behind a vending machine, as one of the shards clips her shoulder and one of her braids, but not much else. Luckily, Cammy's shoulder has some protection, as her outfit is somewhat padded. But that doesn't mean it's not still a hard carbon rock impacting on her. "Combat continuing. Threat assessment revised; Medium. Projectile efficiency increased by 16 percent. Source of projectiles; unknown. Processing information. Battle strategy adapting." Oooh Dash. You HAD to make it sound THAT bad, didn't you? Then again, Dash never HAS seen Caracol fighting with any level of seriousness... "Excuse me Mr. Rat..." he murmurs, "But I'll have to go RIGHT back where you came from." A green fist lifts from within it's hiding place in the well oversized sleave it was in. Annnnnd he proceeds to almost casually throw the kind of punch that could cause sizable craters at the shadow rat. FORTUNATELY, the evil force possessing the rat hasn't quite fused completely, that or the force itself isn't powerful enough to really take much damage. The rat seems to explode with the punch into a mass of smoke and debris; the shadow-thing roars and, seems much smalls as it escapes into a nearby vent. The Rat, freed, squeaks and runs away, seemingly unharmed! Rainbow Dash gasps, "I gotta tell Twilight...that...that was King Sombra! He's alive! And here's HERE!" Caracol blinks as the shadowy thing just...explodes. That....wasn't at ALL what he was expecting.... Rose calls out from behind her pillar, "Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on here?!" She doesn't poke her head around to see what's happening, though. Caracol says, "....that's something I'd like to know too." The rat explodes! ...Yet survives as a normal rat? Well that was new. Still, it seems the fight is over for now. "Combat ceased. Enemy identification acquired; Sombra. Nature; unknown. Current status; unknown. Primary known attack method; projectile." She says as she emerges from behind the vending machine, unsure what to do now. Or why Dash seems so scared of the thing. Rainbow_Dash says, "I...don't have time to explain, I have to get home! If Sombra's alive...sort of..and here! We gotta do something about it! It's...it's...totally freakin' bad!" Wit that, she booms out of the subway and streaks home!" Caracol says, "You'd think there weren't obviously people who could help. But I'm getting this feeling I should just stay out of things again, anyway." Rose ducks slightly again as Dash booms out, then finally peeks around the pillar again. Why are so many people already going back to acting like nothing happened? There was a crystal spewing rat and a talking pegasus! She keeps herself against that pillar in the meantime, anyway. Caracol says, "Are you alright, over there?" "Confirmed. Damage minimal. Whatever this 'Sombra' is, it did not do any significant harm to any unit here." She blinks as the bench she ripped free sort of....crumples on itself from where it impacted with Sombra-rat's head. "...Inanimate objects however, are a different matter." For her, that's about as close to snark as the Zero Doll seems to get, at present. Rose stares at the green guy for a few seconds before nodding towards him. "M'fine. I think. Other than the fact that I appear to be having a fever dream." She then looks back at Cammy for just a moment before shaking her head. "Why is no one caring that the bench was just destroyed?" she mumbles. The civilians in the area have, of course, gone back to normal daily life now that the threat is gone. Caracol says, "I'm used to a lot worse than benches getting ruined on an almost daily basis... I don't know what everyone else's reason is." "Benches are inanimate objects with little real value. This unit has also encountered far more destruction than something that minor." It goes unsaid, but subtly hinted, that she's CAUSED greater damage than just a small bench. Rose just boggles for a moment at the two of them before deciding that the best course of action is to turn around to face away from them and lean her back against the pillar before sliding down it to a sitting position on the ground. "...Where the hell am I?" Caracol says, "Somewhere in Neo Tokyo..." "Current location; Dimensional nexus city. Designation; Neotokyo." Cammy says, still in that same emotionless near-monotone. "Beings from across dimensions are apparently pulled into this nexus of the 'multiverse' as it is designated, with considerable regularity." Rose takes a moment to lean over to look around at the two. "...What?" she simply asks, one eyebrow raised considerably while the other is quite low. Her teeth are gritted but otherwise her mouth is open in a grimace. "'NeoTokyo'? 'Multiverse'?" "Correct." Cammy replies. "The city exists in a state that allows it to act as a nexus between realities. Beings from various dimensions have appeared in this city, with little to no explanation for how they arrived or why." Caracol says, "Soooo...talking horses and shadow rats." Rose sighs and shifts back to just leaning against the pillar, once again out of sight of the other two unless they move. "Great. So now I'm here instead of home. I'm going to guess I can't go back, either?" Well, at least she's catching on quickly. "The rat was new." Cammy remarks offhandedly. As close to humor as she ever gets. Then she turns to Rose and shakes her head. "There is nothing to indicate when an individual will come here, or if they will ever leave.." She frowns. or comes close to it, at least. "That is....not necessarily the most disconcerting thing which most newcomers to the city face, however." Caracol says, "...well they're better at this than I am. I should probably get going..." Rose remains where she's seated as she ponders what was said to her, drawing her knees to her chest. "Damnit. Now what am I going to do?" "Recommendation; hope that your world is not a work of fiction elsewhere." Cammy says flatly. Rose mumbles into her knees without looking up at Cammy, "Fiction?" "Correct. It can be...disconcerting." She should know. She had THAT concept thrown at her in a method very few would likely expect. "Query; designation?" Rose looks a bit confused at first, then looks up at Cammy at the second part. "'Designation'? Are you asking for my name?" . o O ( If we're in Tokyo, then... ) "Hitakino Rose." Luckily for Rose, Cammy was programmed with knowledge of the Japanese naming system, or she might have mistaken her family name as her given name. Still, Cammy's named differently, specifically with the western style. "Unit designate...." she pauses. Not sure at first whether to go with her traditional name or not. But decides that, as her video game representation has a name that seems more 'human', "Cammy White." Rose pauses another moment. "Well... nice to meet you, Miss White," she says before long. She doesn't look at Cammy for much longer, however, before she looks more blankly ahead of her. "So... what now?" she mumbles rhetorically. "At present, your best bet is to seek some form of shelter. The city has a location designated for newcomers to the city, where they may begin to attempt to assimilate into the city's day to day existence." Rose nods silently. It takes another moment before she says, "Well... I guess that's where I'll start, isn't it?" She doesn't sound too happy about this. But then again, who would? She rocks forward to get her feet under her and stand up. "Do you know where that place is? I was out late enough as it is, I might as well get a night's sleep under me so I can start figuring out what to do tomorrow..." "Confirmed. This unit spent time there before finding a domicile which better served for direct purposes." She says. "This way." She says and turns towards the nearest exit that will take them to the shelter. | |
