Friday night at the Usual Restaurant, and Violet is there at the bar, munching on a plate of fries. Well, munching on the fries, not the plate itself. That would be silly. She frequently looks out onto the Usual's floor... seemingly looking for someone.

Suddenly, there's a hand grabbing a couple of fries. A hand wearing a rather lovely engagement ring. Alexa seems to have snuck in. "Hey beautiful!"

Violet playfully swats at the hand grabbing her fries. She of course recognizes it, if not by itself, then certainly by the ring. "Hey, Love! You know, it's starting to feel weird meeting up somewhere when we work and live together."

Alexa laughs at that, taking more fries anyway. "I know, right? It's alright though, darlin'. Sorry I had to work late." she leans over and kisses Violet's cheek. "I love you."

Violet raises an eyebrow with a slight frown. "You're sorry you had to work late? Shouldn't I be the one apologizing to you for that? You know I play a part in making those schedules, right?" She then laughs at the kiss to her cheek, and quickly returns it. "I love you too, hon. I'm assuming by the fact that I wasn't called that it was another dull shift?"

Alexa laughs a little. "It's shiny, darlin'. Can't play favorites, you know?" She munches on another fry, grinning. "Completely dull and uneventful and all.

Violet smiles and nods. "I like being in a planetary defense fleet. You get shore leave for your time off duty. Beats my last fleet post." She then proceeds to lean onto Alexa. "Soooo, you had anything in mind tonight?" she asks as her main meal arrives, a pasta platter. She asks the bartender for an extra set of utensils for it, though, as she hands over the first set to Alexa.

Alexa smiles, kissing Violet's temple as she's leaned into. "Spendin' as much time with you as possible 'fore we go to bed... Then maybe not lettin' you sleep after." she chuckles, grabbing the utensils.

Violet blushes a bit at that, then sits up a bit more straight as the second set of utensils arrives, so now she can eat as well! She of course slides the plate to the middle between the two. "Hope you like spicy, Love. And I think that sounds like a good plan to start. We should fill in the details though, hrm?"

Alexa picks up a forkful and grins. "I can handle a little heat, future wife. I kind of have to since I'm marryin' you." she chuckles, munching happily. "What are you thinkin'?

Violet takes a bite as she ponders this. When she swallows, she shrugs. "Not sure. There's a new gym just out of town I was wanting to look at, but I'm not sure it's your scene. Also, not really date material, I'm assuming. We can maybe hit the beach, see what strikes us out there? Or we can be like an old couple and just turn in early tonight."

Alexa nods a little. "Well, we ain't gotta do anythin' really date-like. If you want to check out the gym, that's fine with me." she smiles.

Violet shakes her head, popping another fry into her mouth. "Nah, nah, I can always do that later. Tonight I wanna do something more 'both of us', ya know?"

Alexa chuckles. "Sounds like a plan darlin'. Well, half of one..." she blinks for a moment. "You know, I forgot. That bartender that works here, the guy with red hair? Said he wanted to talk to you."

Violet blinks at that, then frowns and glances away. "He said something to me to that effect last time I was at the Kraken, too. The heck does he have to talk to me about?"

Alexa pulls Violet close. "I think it was family related. But I think you should. He seemed genuine about it."

Violet frowns at that. "I don't see how something about my half-sister that's not here really would be that important. If something had happened to her, I don't see why he wouldn't just outright tell me. I mean... Yeah, I reacted badly when I found out my father was dead, but... Let's face it, I wasn't really that close to Rayne."

Alexa frowns a little, but nods. "Well, then logically the only thing to do is ask. But I will support you with whatever you want."

Violet glances away. "He scares me a little, 'Lexa. You don't know about him like I do. He's... he's legit scary. He doesn't show it here, but... I've been in his home universe. I've heard the tales, seen some of the movies."

Alexa thinks. "Well, then why not do it in a public place? Where he ain't gonna want to get all scary?"

Violet frowns at that. "I guess. He does seem to be interested in keeping this image up in NeoTokyo." She sighs and takes another bite of the pasta dish.

Alexa nods. "Well, we can always plant backup. Like if you meet 'im at the Kraken, have your aunt or mother there, some friends or somethin'.

Violet nods with a frown. "Having Ari around would be simple enough. Heck, she'd probably be there, anyway." She finally leans against Alexa again. "And of course I'd want you there. I don't think he'd actually... try anything bad. It's more... It's more he's just intimidating."

Alexa kisses her cheek softly. "He seemed the opposite of that when we talked, but then again I don't know him well enough.

Violet closes her eyes initially at the kiss. "Mrrph. He's a really big time bounty hunter back in his home universe. I think he sees this place as a vacation."

Alexa nods a little. "Well, say when and we'll go. If he tries somethin'...

Violet opens her eyes and takes another bite of her meal. "...Well, I suppose we don't have any other plans for the night. I guess we might as well get this out of the way tonight."

Alexa takes another bite as well. "Alright then. Did you want to call in any backup?"

Violet frowns and nods. "Maybe just... see if Ari's there tonight."

Alexa looks down at her gun for a moment, checking something. "Alright love.

The place is packed! It is a Friday night, after all. The dance floor is full of life, the bar has a steady flow of customers, and Ari is out amongst the people playing the good club owner.

Gonfei, for his part, is looking fairly busy at the bar. He's the only senior bartender here for the night, after all, though those formerly called trainees are now fully carrying their weight by now.

Violet steps in with Alexa, glancing around as she does so. She relaxes slightly as she spots Ari out on the floor, then tenses up slightly once again as she spots the fiery-haired bartender.

Alexa keeps an arm around Violet's waist, trying to reassure her that things will be fine.

Ari looks around, then sees Violet and Alexa at the door. She smiles brightly and kind of dances on over to them. "Evening ladies!" She then blinks at Violet's expression. "Everything alright?

Violet blinks from Gonfei to Ari as she nods her head. Then she stops herself, and instead shrugs. "Apparently your ex-bounty hunter bartender wanted to talk to me about something. But... It's looking like the place is pretty busy tonight, so... maybe another time?"

Ari blinks at that. "Well, he's due for a break anyway, as much as he hates taking them.

Violet frowns at that and deflates slightly. Looks like she was looking for another excuse. "All right... well..." She looks between Ari and Alexa, then just starts walking towards the bar.

Alexa gives Ari a look of 'hey I could use some help here' and takes off after Violet.

Gonfei looks up and spots Violet approaching with Alexa close after. He smiles to them with a wave, then finishes off mixing a drink for the person already there. With that done, he looks back to them again. "And what can I get for you two?" he asks before looking more directly at Violet again. "Or have my messages finally gotten through to you?"

Ari kind of power-walks in front of the other two women. "Hey Gonfei, it's break time. One of the other guys are going to relieve you for a bit."

Violet glances as everyone is getting involved in this. "Ah, all right." She takes a breath in and nods to Gonfei. "All right, yeah, sure. Let's talk."

Alexa sticks to keeping just a pace behind Violet in case she's needed. She's certainly not abandoning her, either.

Gonfei glances at Ari and nods. "Well, I suppose it's good timing, then." He then glances at Violet a bit grimly, then says, more to Ari, "Though I'm guessing said timinmg isn't actually a coincidence." He takes a few steps away from the bar and walks around, motioning for Violet to follow him over to a (relatively) quiet corner of the place.

Ari shakes her head. "Not particularly, no. But I'll be nearby if you guys need me. And if it gets too loud, feel free to duck into the employee lounge.

Violet sighs and walks after him, grabbing Alexa's hand to pull her along as well. No, she doesn't want to go alone. "All right," she says as she gets to the corner. "What've you been bothering people to get me to come here to talk about?"

Alexa wasn't going to leave her alone on this anyway, but gets pulled along, standing right next to Violet as she starts her conversation.

Gonfei glances at Alexa, but shakes his head with a sigh before beginning. "Okay, Violet. I want to know how much you know about your mother. How much you really know? Because I'm willing to bet she's not bothered to tell you something pretty damned important."

Ari might have given them space, but she can still hear everything. Yay elven ears, right? So she's being nosey without being obvious.

Violet opens her mouth, but pauses before she actually says anything. "...You're not talking about Raven. Admiral Hurris, then?" She shrugs. "Workaholic, tows the party line for House Hurris, their star admiral who's this great war hero and all while managing to be a pretty lousy mother who didn't even bother bringing up that 'oh, I'm actually your biological mother as well as your adopted one' back when I was in that universe? You want me to keep going?" Apparently Gonfei's hit a bit of a sore spot with her.

Alexa squeezes Violet's hand a little, letting Violet know she's here, but doesn't want to interrupt.

Gonfei closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Yeah... this isn't surprising," he mumbles. He sighs and opens his eyes again, leaning in slightly and speaking a bit more quietly. Vi and Alexa likely can still hear this, but from this distance, even Ari might have trouble. Then again, elf ears. "I'm assuming you know she's about five hundred years old, right? Violet, she's not taking that anti-aging drug the Tyrian nobles have." He glances around once again and drops his voice further. "She's not fully human, Violet. Like Rayne and me, but Maniko's not a phoenix. She's a dragon."

Ari's ear twitches a little at that, hearing bits and pieces, but she stays quiet.

Violet's eyebrow twitches at that, and her response is quite simple. "The F---?"

Alexa blinks at that, looking like she was going to say something, but decides against it.

Gonfei sighs and facepalms at the response. "Look, I just thought you should know. It... you may well go your entire life without it actually affecting you. But if your mother didn't tell you, I thought I should. I only learned because she did eventually tell Rayne, who told me almost immediately." He frowns, glancing away as he tries to recall the details. "In times of... great distress, it might come out if you don't give up. If Rayne were here, she might be able to tell you more, but well... I guess that's it." He deflates just a little.

Ari hears nothing... at least not that she's showing.

Violet blinks, opening her mouth, then closing it twice before she finally actually says something. "That... that's what it was. What almost came out when I relearned my father's wings..." She blinks and suddenly leans a bit more heavily into Alexa. "Frey couldn't figure out what it was, but... That was it, wasn't it?"

Alexa wraps her arms around Violet, and holds her tightly, not saying anything.

Gonfei nods to Violet. "From what I understand about it... maybe. I'm afraid I don't know the details very well... your mother was the only dragon I've ever really gotten along well with, though I didn't know what she was at the time. I just know that it doesn't mean you're a dragon, but it does mean you might become one. Rayne's not made that transition, at least not the last time I met her, but she has the potential... and I can only assume you do as well." He then glances around. "So... that's all the information I've really got, sorry."

Ari still stands nearby, just in case she's needed for some support.

Violet nods slowly, letting the information sink in. "Um, if that's all, then...." She glances back towards the bar. "I think I'm gonna need a drink."

Alexa is still holding Violet tightly. "Are you sure, darlin'?" she asks quietly. "Or do you just want to go home?"

Gonfei nod to Violet. "For what it's worth... I'm sorry you had to find this out from me... but you should know what you are, I think. Or what you could be." With that said, he glances to the side again, then walks away to the employee lounge.

Ari sees Gonfei walk off out of the corner of her eye, and heads over to Vi and Alexa. "Everything alright?"

Violet shakes her head to Alexa. "I'm... fine. I'd just rather get a drink first..." She looks up at Ari as she approaches. "Yeah, yeah, everything's spiffy. Just found out my mother never bothered to tell me she was a freaking dragon is all."

Alexa lets Violet go only enough to link arms with her, heading to the bar. "Whatever you want, darlin'.

Ari nods a bit, heading to the bar and taking Gonfei's spot. "You name it, kiddo. That sounds like a double of something to me, in any case.

Violet takes a seat at the bar and looks up to Ari. "Screwdriver, then," she says, then looks to Alexa.

Ari nods, and gets to making Violet's drink.

Alexa sits next to Violet, arm linked still. "Are you alright, love?

Violet leans into Alexa's side. "I'll be fine, Love. I mean... It's not like it's the only mythical thing in me, right? But still. You think she would've said something. You think she would've said she was my mother, even."

Alexa nods a little. "She ain't gettin' mother of the year, that's for sure. But you are who you are in spite of it, right?

Ari is standing behind the bar where Gonfei usually is, and has just made Violet a drink. "Yeah, that's rough hon.

Violet nods, not necisarily at either one, perhaps to both? She takes a swig of her screwdriver, then sets the drink on the bar again before leaning her head on Alexa's shoulder. Well, she certainly doesn't think Alexa's going to think less of her with that revelation, at least. So it's not effected her self-esteem somehow.

Skeeve chooses this particular moment to saunter in through the doors, with a polite nod to the bouncers as he passes, and makes his way up and towards the bar.

Ari smiles a bit at Violet and Alexa, and slides Violet's drink to her. She then sees Skeeve in the crowd and waves at him. "Hey handsome!"

Alexa kisses the top of Violet's head. "At least now there's no surprises in case somethin' does happen.

Violet nods. "Yeah... yeah. Gonfei was right. It was better knowing than not knowing. It just... it still kinda hurts, what my mother did... and didn't do." She takes another sip of her drink before downright snuggling into Alexa. She does look up as Ari greets Skeeve, however. "Hey, Skeeve," is all she says in greeting to him. She does sound a little bit down right now.

Skeeve, appearing not to have heard that last little tidbit, tips his currently-absent hat in the direction of all three of the women as he sidles up to the bar, leans across to kiss Ari lightly on the cheek. "Evening, ladies... you look wonderful, Ari. How are we all tonight?"

Ari blushes a bit at the kiss, grinning. "Thank you, my love. You aren't looking so bad yourself!" she winks at him. As for how they're doing, well it's not for her to say.

Alexa puts an arm around Violet's shoulders, rubbing the green haired woman's arm a bit.

Violet says, "Been better." She then glances upward at Alexa from her head's perch on her shoulder. "Then again, I've been a hell of a lot worse, too."

Skeeve smiles lightly in response to Ari's compliment. "Thanks." Leaning an arm on the bar, and looking remarkably casual about it, he says to Violet sympathetically, "I hear you, Vi. Been there."

Ari smiles at Skeeve a moment, then ducks down for a couple of minutes, doing something or other.

Alexa leans her head against Violet's. "I do what I can, darlin'. If I can't support you in times like this, I ain't doin' my job right.

Violet says, "I know, Love, I know. You're doing a fine job, too. I may have to give you a bonus when we get home." She then glances over at Skeeve. "Naaaaah, I don't think you've been where I am right now. Not exactly. I'm kinda unique that way."

Skeeve quirks a little bit as Ari disappears behind the bar. "Everything okay down there?" Shrugging a little bit, grinning a little at Alexa and Vi's flirting, he replies, "You're probably right, actually. Still, if you wanna talk about it and want a fresh perspective on whatever's troubling you, I'm happy to listen."

Ari comes up with a fresh strawberry milkshake, complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top, and slides it in front of Skeeve, smiling.

Alexa looks at Violet and smiles. "Darlin', you happy is all I need." She sneaks a kiss to Violet's cheek as the other woman's turned to Skeeve.

Violet glances over towards the break room. "Okay, so... you know Gonfei has a history with my mother? As in, my real mother, not Raven? So apparently he knows enough about her to know she's apparently a dragon." She looks back at Skeeve, then shrugs. "So I've got that, add in the reminders that it's not, you know, my mother that told me about this..." She sighs and snuggles into Alexa again after taking another sip of her drink.

Skeeve returns the smile in kind, reaching out to take one of Ari's hands and give it a little squeeze. "It's like you read my mind." He's quiet for a few moments while he mulls over what Violet's said. In an uncharacteristically solemn tone (for him, anyway), he says, "That does suck. I'm sorry you had to find out about something like that that way."

Ari taps the side of her head a little, winking at Skeeve. "Well, I am my father's daughter." she chuckles, then stays quiet as they talk.

Alexa slips her other arm around Violet as well, holding her close and comforting. "Honestly, it sounds like she didn't deserve you as a daughter, darlin'."

Violet says a bit dryly, "Well, ssshe didn't get me as a daughter. She wasn't there." She takes another swig of her drink. "Yeah yeah. It sucks, but it's still an old wound. Now I just gotta figure out howta deal with the'whole 'I might turn into a dragon' thing he also said somethin' about. Mighta gotten close once or twice already."

Skeeve takes a sip of his milkshake, sets it down, then takes another, slower sip, nodding appreciatively. "Well, I don't want to butt my nose in where it isn't wanted, but if there's anything you need or you think that can help... I'm happy to."

Ari excuses herself to deal with a few other customers. She is working, after all.

Alexa smiles a little at Violet. "And if it happens, we'll find a way to deal with it. It ain't gonna change anythin' on my end, that's for sure."

Violet looks at Skeeve for a moment before shrugging. "Dunno how you can help, really. Dunno if I really need it pass what 'Lexa's givin' me." She shifts her head slightly to look up at Alexa again. "Well, Goffei's a phoenix, Mom's a dragon... you'd not know loookin' or talkin' at 'em. Sssssoooo, I'm guessin' it ain't gonna change too much in the end if it does happ'n."

Skeeve nods a few times at that. "To be honest, you're probably right, Vi... but I figured I'd offer anyway. As I'm sure Alexa has already made ample efforts to make you aware, there are people who want to help." He smiles lightly, raises his glass in salute. It looks vaguely ridiculous, what with the cherry and all the whipped cream.

Ari smiles as she comes back to the bar, this time on the patrons' side, standing next to Skeeve. "I know I'm on that list, and so is Raven.

Alexa hugs Violet a little tighter. "See? We got you, darlin'. I promise."

Violet nods several times, perhaps over-enthusiastically. "Yup! I know, an' you're all awesome for it. I didn't f'rget you were there f'r me when Frey dropped Pops' death on me, Skeeve. An' I know the rest of my family here's gonna be here for me. And even more you, Love. I'm gonna be okay. Don' worry. With ev'rything going so great in life, this... this's just a slight stumble."

Skeeve slips an arm around Ari's waist, sips his milkshake lightly, and chuckles. "That's the way to look at it." Shaking his head lightly, he laughs, and says, "Violet, you are drunk. How many of those have you had?"

Ari chuckles, kissing Skeeve's cheek. "That's her first one. It's a double though.

Alexa nods a little. "I'm thinkin' I should get her home soon. Rough evenin'."

Violet frowns at Skeeve. "Shutup. You know I'm a lightweight. We dated long enough f'r you to find that out." Well, she's not arguing against being drunk, at least. "Hmmmmm, yes. I think we should go home soon~."

Skeeve chuckles cheerily at that, leaning into Ari's kiss. "Oh, relax, Vi, I'm just teasing you, you know that." His grin turning a little teasing, he adds, "Have a good night, you two. I'd say 'don't do anything I wouldn't', but that doesn't proscribe much.

Ari rolls her eyes at that. "I think I can name like, three things you wouldn't do, dear." she winks at Skeeve.

Alexa blinks at the 'we dated' line, not remembering if she knew that or not. She shrugs it off, hopping off her bar stool and helping Violet down from hers. "You need to get some rest, beautiful. Apartment or ship?"

Violet opens her mouth to quip Skeeve, but then realizes she can't think of anything he wouldn't do. At least, not anything that she'd even consider doing. She pouts slightly at that, but happily accepts being helped down. "Okaaay, Love. Hrrrrrrm, I'm thinking we should go to the apartment tonight."

Skeeve just snickers a little bit at that, leaning in to give Ari a quick kiss. "Yeah, and they're probably not gonna do 'em, now are they?" He offers a casual wave to Vi and Alexa. "Nice to see you again, Vi, ALexa. Don't worry about your bill, it's on me. Have a good night, okay?"

Ari grins, returning Skeeve's kiss. "True. And the drink was on the house anyway. I'm the house, I can say that." she chuckles. "Have a good night you two."

Alexa puts one of Vi's arms around her shoulder. The Browncoat then puts an arm around her fiancee's waist to give her some support. "Night folks. I'll take care of her, I promise."

Violet waves to Skeeve and Ari as Alexa starts dragging her out. "G'night guuuys! Thanks f'r the support!" She then pushes her hip into Alexa's. Not quite a hip bump as they're already touching, but it seems that's what she was attempting to do. "Oh, you know you'll take care of me~."

Skeeve waves a little more as the two women start leaving, and as a casual aside to Ari, he says, "They are going to get so laid tonight."

Ari laughs. "You and your one track mind." She shakes her head. "What am I going to do with you?"

Skeeve just waggles his eyebrows in response.

Alexa grins at Violet as they walk out. "Don't I always, darlin'?" she laughs.
