Character Application Guide

Warning Warning: Again: Neo-Tokyo has a policy of No-Public TS. If don't know what TS means, you probably don't have to worry about doing it in public. If you do know what it means and engage in it, make sure it's in a lockable private space and that you are obeying all the laws of both the US (where this server is located) and your home nation. Your actions are your responsibility, you have been WARNED.

Note Note: A note on squatting: Players holding onto a character without logging them on for extended periods of time, quickly logging them on and off again, and are otherwise inactive with them, especially when being active with other alts, are subject to be marked as squatters, and at risk of losing the character or characters in question. In the event of a complaint against a character squatter, action will be taken with more immediacy. In the event of a player losing a character due to squatting, they may not reapply for the character for another 90 days following its removal. Should one reapply thereafter, the long application will be required.

Introduction

Welcome to the new Neo-Tokyo. Hopefully you will have plenty of fun Role-Playing here. In order to make it as fun as possible for all who come here, we require that you have a certain level of maturity and RP according to some simple rules. Most of these rules are listed in our rules and policies sections of our web page and info files. However, this is the first step to ensuring that the people you encounter are willing and able to abide by those rules. Every time you create a character or make a significant change to a character you will come under a certain amount of "quality control" scrutiny. If you are a mature and responsible player this scrutiny should prove to be a minor nuisance. It also should help keep nuisance players from bothering you by stopping trouble before it starts. This guide will tell you what sort of answers we want to the questions we ask. If you read and understand the guide and are of a mental and emotional age to 'play nice' with others these applications will never be more than a minor nuisance.

A note on theme

A critical aspect of Neo-Tokyo's theme, one of the things that makes it different from other places to play is the Concept of Gates and Displaced Persons.

The Fluff behind the physics of the gates and the concept of alternate realities is not particularly important to this discussion. In game terms the effect is that you have the freedom to play any character from fiction, IF you realize that they have effectively stepped through the 'fourth wall' of the TV screen or comic page and into the world that 'created' them. This means that if you play a character from a TV series you may find your image being merchandised in toy stores. This means that your character may be 'known' the way a movie star is 'known' and all the problems associated with that. It also means that if your character has a secret identity he or she will have to cope with it being no longer secret. If you think you can handle playing your favorite character under such conditions then please continue.

Series and Organization Wizzes

These are special Wizards responsible for a specific cast of characters (i.e. Tenchi Muyo) or an IC organization (i.e. UNPROFOR or NTSDF)

A note on organizations

If you are willing to abide by additional IC rule and OOC responsibilities, this can be a cheap 'power up' for your character. Joining the NTPD for example, gives you a Badge, a gun, body armor and a RADIO. This last allows you to request the assistance of the Neo-Tokyo Police Dept. a City wide force in a New York sized city heavily populated with super beings. These allies can bring down beings much more powerful than their individual power ratings would indicate. The down side is that you have rules you have to follow ICly and OOCly... or you could have to face the dreaded Internal Investigative Service (IIS or 'EYES')

There are also: the NT Space Defense Force (NTSDF) and a number of private companies and criminal gangs. Indicate in your application under background or just as an added note, weather any of these organizations are of interest.

The @name Application
