A warp field seems to have appeared over the center of Neo-Tokyo! There's a loud BOOM as smoke begins to rise from the direction of the Usual Restaurant!

Robot Monster rises up from the massive crater he's just impacted down in. "So..there are more Hu-mans! Very well, I shall destroy them all! Your deaths will be...indescribable! With that, an energy beam emanates from his strange helmet, vaporizing a line of cars on the street, sending panicking citizens running in terror!

Robot Monster says, "RUN FOOL HU-MANS!"

EARLIER

NTDF TOWER

Alarms flare as an explosion rocks the city and a certain Protoss warrior raises challenge by heading to the nearest teleporter. "We are under attack!! There is no time to waste, we must join our brethren in battle!!" Entering the warp field he's been construction, Artanis vanishes from view in a swirling blue portal.

NOW

NEO-TOKYO DOWNTOWN

Just as the robotic monster vaporizes a line of cars, a decidedly non-human warrior beams into the area and immediately begins rushing the monster. His energy psi-blades engage from his golden gauntlets and his telepathic war cry fills the minds of all nearby sentient beings.

"BLADES OF JUSTICE!!"

Robot Monster says, "At last, one who challenges me!" He grabs up a nearby car and hurls it like a missle at the incoming warrior! "You cannot defend them! Death to all Hu-mans!"

Right, you'd think a warp field wouldn't be noticed by the Last of the Colonial Battlestars in orbit. And well, just so happens the Commander is in town, and off flying in VF-27. Yeah, he likes to fly. And when he sees the robot and then the massive blast of it's beam weapon he sighs. "Well," goes one Jack Karrde, as he flicks a couple switches. "Time to fly." and he brings his fighter in and goes to strafe the area with rapid fire beam bolts..aiming to stagger to Robot and keep it off balance.

Artanis' war cry is more than merely figurative speech, his psi-blades seem to be fueled by the Protoss' very desire to dish out justice to evil dears, which needless to say gives them a high degree of potency. As the car is hurled at the Hierarch of the Daelam, he brings two swift diagonal slashes to slice the car apart and throw it aside before it makes impact with him. "You shall pay for your destruction of private property, monster!!" Oh, now the Protoss is really pissed.

He charges through the barrage of fire dealt by his allies and closes the distance with the gorilla like creature in an instant. Fearlessly entering the Robot's circle of defense, he brings two wide arch slices of his psi blades at the monster's gut to try and cut him open.

Robot Monster Grrrss and is knocked off balance by both Jack's strafing and Artanis full frontal assault! But the strange creature is tough! Artanis blades spark as they strike, seeming to hurt the creature but not doing much in the way of damage, yet! The street is getting chewed up good and proper, though! Gas mains begin to blow! People are running and shrieking everywhere! The metal-headed gorilla-thing releases a flash from within his body, vaporizing nearby normals and possibly hurting some super-types! "Behold the power of my Calscinator beam! Death to Ugrrggghhh all!"

Being someone who's quite used to being around explosions, the lack of explosions tends to be the odd part... As such, when there IS an explosion within noticeable range, a certain short, green alien comes flying onto the scene. "And here we are again. Wow, it's like this is a famous target!" He floats down to the ground and gives a shake of his head. "Really...and you'd think they'd have learned from the past times!" "Hey everyone," he greets toward Artanis and the others. He then, as he tends to, first focuses on trying to get those silly civilians out of the way of harm before he starts trying to get involved in fighting.

Well, thankfully Jack's airborne, but the shockwave from the blast shakes his ship and he growls a bit. "...Crap." he gets out as he pulls off a tight rolling bank and he grimaces as he sights the thing again. Great, with Artanis in the way he can't cut loose with the Lucifer's full firepower. And he grimaces as he flicks a comm, "Protoss Warrior, try to get clear. I can't get a clear shot with my fighter's weapons." he says as he shifts to Gerwalk mode so he can hover.

"Resilient wretch." Artanis mutters telepathically when he notices that his psi blades fail to cut the monster in half as he intended and merely damage him. It shouldn't surprise him too much however seeing that this place is highly irregular and he is sure to encounter a wide arrange of foes. From Angels to gorillas with death lazors for heads. He shifts back to give himself some room to maneuver and brings his gauntlets up into a defensive boxing stance to protect himself from the incoming Calscinator blast fired at him via the Robot Monster's helmet. "Aaah!!" The Protoss goes flying backwards but manages to do a back flip in mid air and use the force of the throw to land on his feet.

"Ah! En Taro Adun, Caracol!" He calls out to the Namek and raises his fist at him. "Good thinking, my friend! Get these civilians out of the area! I will try to draw the creature's fire." As he begins to rush towards the monster, his mind receives Jack's radio call to pull back. "Negative! That would leave Caracol exposed!" He continues to rush forward thinking of a solution. "I have a better idea!" As he follows through with his charge the Protos fires a portable teleporter prism at the Robot Monster. If the teleporter hits the creature, the Robot Monster will find that he and Artanis have fully switched positions. Meaning that the Monster is now facing the other direction and thus not pointing towards the civilians he was aiming at.

Robot Monster raises his massive arms up and is about to Hulk-smash the street as Caracol works to clear away as many civilians as he can; many just turn to dust as the Calcinator beam strikes, other fall in pain with burns, but he manages to save as many as he can! When his fists strike the street BOOM! It sends a shockwave out in every direction..though he suddenly finds himself in a different spot all together..."This does not compute..." is all he gets out before he's walloped by his own concussive boom! Arrrghg! he's knocked for a loop by hid own strike, having been space-swapped by Artanis!

"Huh, better than anticipated." Artanis arches a hairless eyebrow as he watches the Robot Monster hit himself with his own shockwave due to being swapped. "Now! Obliterate him!!" Calls the Heirarch to Jack's comm link through telepathy.

And -that- is the moment Jack was waiting for. With a narrowed look the VF shifts to Battroid mode and hefts it's gunpod. See, one thing about the 27, it uses as rapid fire beam gun. That means it's energy bolts it's a tossing, but it also has another ability. And with a flick the gun's barrel splits down the middle as energy begins to gather as weapons prepares to fire it's beam grenade off. Yes, a compressed blast of energy and it's a doozy. "Will do." he says to Artanis as he pulls the trigger and the VF's weapon goes off as the blast of energy goes screaming at the Robot Monster.

Caracol says, "Don't worry about leaving me exposed too much." Caracol calls back, "I mean I appreciate it, but I'm not the one that needs it." He furrows his brows as he seems to have been too slow to protect some of the people. "Hmph...well, this one MIGHT actually present a problem after all," he mutters. Upon saying that, however, he's quick to move on to get the rest of the surviving civies off the the field or shielded from any further damage."

Robot Monster is just picking himself up when jack rain's heaven's fire down upon him! *VrrrEEeEeEEeeEEeeEBBBOOOM!* The strange creature vanishes in the blast amid a torrent of smoke, light and debris! It rains molten concrete all over the street, and when the blast clears...there's no sign of the Robot Monster but a huge crater! All is quite, when suddenly a smoldering, burnt hand rises from the rubble. 'Fool...Hu-mans....I am...Ro-man...you cannot defeat me..." They don't call him an indestructible moon-monster for nothing! He's tough! But less tough now, he's looking pretty chewed up and blasted, but still kicking! "Now...I will..destroy you all..."

Well, crap. Checking the charge on the gunpod Jack grimaces a bit, "Damn. Need to get with Falcon on the recharge times on the charged blast." and he shifts back to Gerwalk and pulls back, and flicks the weapon selector to missiles and releases a barrage of Micro Missiles at the Monster. And he hmms as he glances at the shield on his VF and looks back at the monster.

Blast! Even after all that fire power the creature still lives! No matter, Artanis has managed to pull the attention from the Monster away from the civilians and that's what he wanted. "No one else dies by your hand, monster!!" Cries the Protoss telepathically and goes for the tried and true charge once more.

Leaping towards the Robot Monster, Artanis descends from the sky via a dive and tries to embed both psi blades simultaneously into the creature's chest.

Caracol mutters under his breath, "...why can't everyone just get along, stupid jerks..." Yeah, for all his power and all his being unhappy with the native Namekian lot in existence, he'd still really rather not be fighting, especially when it means innocent people are getting hurt for no good reason. And he IS really still a kid by a lot of races and/or culture's standards. Once he's sure EVERY one he can get to safety is well and truely to safety, he'd come to a vantage point over the battle, trying to figure out what everyone was up to before doing anything himself. Seeing that Jack's going for Missiles and Artanis is going in close and personal, Caracol dives after Artanis, bringing up a forcefield that doubles as barrier and an attack, aiming to knock any missiles that might stray too close to Artanis toward their intended target.

Robot Monster is powering up another beam blast...when he's fed a butt-load of missiles, followed by Caracol's helping hand...and Caracol's forcefield also, once again, turn's Ro-mans own weapon against him, deflecting his calcinator beam right back at himself! BOoOmmmbrkabbboBWOOM! He's strafed again, stabbed through this time and then self-calcinated! he lets out a roar of pain and falls back into the pit, with one word..."A...lice..." and then tumbles down, laying there in a smoldering sparking heap. It smells like burnt gorilla, to.

Skeeve chooses, for whatever reason, this particular moment to step out of one of NeoTokyo's signature swirling silver gates... only to flinch as a giant piece of rubble sails past his head. "What in the NINE HELLS!?" He dives to one side, knocking a mailbox into a phonebooth to create a makeshift barricade to protect him from.. ..from... well, he's not quite sure yet, but he's sure it's not quite savoury.

Once the thing does Jack sits back in his cockpit and sighs. And he sends off a message to EMT units, "Yeah, Center of the city. Again." he says as he blinks a bit and his Cockpit's HUD homes in on Skeeve. Triggering the outside comms, "Good work everyone. And hi Skeeve." he says as he brings the VF-27 down and lands on. Popping the cockpit he removes his helmet and hops out on the the palm which lowers him to the ground.

Caracol blinks and peers toward Skeeve on his expression. "Err, hi...if you're not battle capable, it miiiiiiight be a good idea to scoot. I don't know how down this thing really is. He looks down, but....that's a well used trick sooo not positive yet.

Caracol can likely sense that Skeeve SEEMS capable of being battle ready, but that doesn't always mean a person IS battle ready.

Robot Monster just smolders for now.....

"What battle costs!!" Artanis was fully aware that he was diving into a missile barrage, but such is the tenacity of the Protoss, or foolhardiness as one might argue. Nevertheless, thanks to Caracol's efforts and his own shield battery, Artanis pulls through the explosion.

As the smoke dissipates, the Robot Monster lays immobile on the ground and Artanis still stands, psi blades glowing through the darkness. He hears the call of victory and raises said blades for another mighty warcry.

"FOR AIUR!!!"

Skeeve pops off two protective spells in quick succession before peeking over the mailbox, then up at Caracol. "Well, I guess we're about to find out, huh." As Jack's fighter comes in for a landing, he straightens up and offers a casual wave. "So.. uh... what the hell happened here?"

Karrde looks at the Protoss as he goes into his battle cry and just blinks, "...Honestly, dunno. I was flying around and Falcon pinged me, saying there was a warp event. Next thing I know." and he points at the Robot Monster, "That thing was blasting people to dust. Caracol and I think that's Artanis, if what Stark told me is accurate..engaged it."

Robot Monster seems incapacitated, if not dead. Who can tell?

Caracol says, "Yeah, Artanis was fighting it when I showed up...then again you were already here too...but if you think Artanis was first he probably was." That said, he drops to the ground, dusting himself off. ".I always hate it when random bystanders die. I mean, I already hate it when I have to kill people that AREN'T random bystanders, so..."

And that's about the time the EMTs show up, along with a unit from the NTPD to contain the Monster if they can. And the injured and the like will be taken care of..and yes, the NTPD will try to contain it.

Karrde nods to Caracol, "Agreed there." and he looks at the creature and using his connection to his fighter keeps it's gunpod levelled at it. Just in case.

Uh, yeah, that's just a thing Artanis has to do after besting a foe. Warrior tradition and all.

After coming down from his battle high, the Protoss warrior recollects himself and moves away from the fallen body of the Monster and to join Caracol and Jack. "Excellent work, warriors. Civilian casualties seem to have been minimized." Artanis glances at Skeeve and raises his hand towards him in greetings when his fellow officers introduce him. "En Taro Tassadar."

Skeeve ruffles a hand through his hand through his hair. "So... ...giant gorilla robot, huh?" He offers a casual wave to the Protoss as he approaches. "Sorry I showed up too late to help."

Karrde looks at Skeeve, "Yeah..and it's cool Skeeve. It was a mess." he says as he looks at Artanis. "Jack Karrde, Commander of the Battlestar Athena." he says to Artanis. "And the fop next to me is Skeeve Plowse."

Artanis returns Jack's salute with fervor, bringing his fist to his chest as it is traditional for the Protoss. "Well met. I am Artanis, Heirarch of the Daelam and newly appointed warrior of the NTDF." He frowns towards Skeeve when Jack introduces him as a fop and just scratches his head at the odd tittle. "Uh.. I see."

Caracol gives a little wave. "Caracol, Time Patroller. I should have come in swinging this time, huh? ...if I'd just tried to kill the thing from the start, maybe less people would have died..." Whoops, there he goes falling out of character again, but death tends to have that affect on him. He gives a shake of his head, trying to change his focus some. "I know fop's a human word, I never got what it meant though."

Robot Monster is pulled from the crater by crews; he seems dead or inactive, so they'd best get him on ice quickly. He seems more or less intact, his helemt dented and visor cracked, still smoldering and sparking.

Skeeve sweeps an imaginary hat off his head, and bows a little bit at Jack's introduction. "Skeeve Plowse, magician extraordinaire, at your service." Straightening up, he says, "So, how sure are we that that thing's actually down for the count?"

"Even if it is not, the crews will make certain that it will be locked away for good." Artanis answers Skeeve's concern about the downed Monster. Then, to Caracol, Artanis places a comforting hand on the Namek's shoulder. "You did all you could to save innocent lives. That is all any of us can ask."

Karrde hmms, "We don't. But it took a beam cannon blast point blank. Missiles. And was hit with Protoss Psi Blades." he says as he pulls out his scanner and looks at the thing and goes to scan it. "We might have damaged his control system. I'm detecting a lot of cyberwork on it."

Caracol says, "Down enough I don't sense any power from him, but that could be because it's robotic in the first place." He smiles up at Artanis. "Thanks...sorry I got a little whiney there."

Skeeve glances at the crater, then at the body as the NTPD crews set to work. "So... what, did it just show up and just start blasting people? No preamble or 'gimme gold and jewels before I blast you', just straight to the mayhem?"

Caracol says, "Seems so. Like he just randomly decided it was time to kill some humans. Bleh..."

Karrde hmms, "From what I saw..it came out and started blasting." he says as he puts the tricorder away. And he leans against his VF's arm and taps his chin, "...Programmed to attack?" he offers with a look at the thing.

"It is fine." Artanis assures the Namek. "It is normal to grieve in the face of death." Once the conversation shifts to the creature's motives and all find to be inconclusive, the Protoss gives a telepathic scoff and adds, "At least it seemed to have more motives than the Angel."

Caracol says, "That screaming thing? Yeah..."

Karrde looks at Artanis, "The Angels have a motive...to merge with ADAM and be Complete."

Caracol says, "And there was the BETA that just seemed to want to devour everything."

Skeeve shivers, just a little bit, at the mention of the Angels. Not something he likes to dwell on. "Well, Angels are real great at mayhem, so that's not overly surprising." He starts walking towards the robot. "I wonder if we can find out who programmed it...?" He pauses for a moment, glances back, "Unless anyone noticed if it dropped out through a gate?"

Karrde sighs, "I can see if the NTPD will let my people look at it." he gives a shrug, "We might get lucky." and he looks at Skeeve, "Again..we got a warp field. I'm having Falcon check..but honestly..I think someone sent it here."

The Protoss frowns at Karrde at he tries to explain the Angels' motives. He seems to be even more confused after the explanation though. "As I said, at least it had clear motives. It seemed to want only to kill people. Terrans specifically. Perhaps it had a vendetta against them."

Karrde hmms, "Possibly. During the war I've seen people do crazy things for even crazier reasons." he says with a shrug as he hmms and taps his chin.

Skeeve replies cheerily, "Well, there are a lot of things out there that want to kill Terrans. Still, if you can find a way to trace that warp field, maybe we can figure out which particular jackass this robot belongs to."

Caracol says, "It does feel fishily close to a worm hole here, so I'd guess he's right about the warping stuff."

Karrde hmms, "I'll have some people get on it." and he pulls out his PADD and sends off the orders. "And here I was just wanting to break in a new fighter and a knockdown drag out occurs." he says in a mock grousing tone.

Artanis nods to Skeeve. "A capital idea. Tracking the warp field can lead us to the source. If this creature was sent by someone we should be able to eliminate them before they send more monsters against us." At Karrde's suggestion Artanis takes the initiative and begins communicating telepathically with HQ. "I have ample experience with warp fields, I will do what I can to assist our engineers."

Karrde nods, "Well....so Skeeve, how goes?"

Caracol says, "I can try and help too, but I don't know for sure that I can track it or not. I'm not some kind of, er, what was it called? Well I don't exactly have a skill for following warps. I just know what a worm hole feels like after having closed so many of them."

Karrde says, "If we can get a power signature we can cross reference recent surges and try and get a location." he says to Caracol, "Then..we go in heavy."

Skeeve shrugs a little bit at that, taking a moment to gesture at the mailbox he knocked over - it floats back to rights. "Oh, I'm doing okay. No real complaints, really." He scratches the back of his head lightly. "Cross reference? You mean this sort of thing has been happening regularly?"

Karrde hmms, "I have no idea..but.." he nods at his VF, "Everything puts off a power signature unique to it. Caracol's Ki..my VF's gunpod. If we can find the type of signature we can see if there's a source or if there HAS been others."

Caracol says, "Doesn't seem unlikely to me." He nods toward Karrde. "I'll try and help with getting a signature then. I have a tool that MIGHT be able to record it for you. I don't use the scouter very often, so it might be broken down by now."

Karrde hmms and nods to Caracol, "Works for me. I'll have Falcon scan it and we see what happens."

Skeeve, Jack, and Caracol are standing around outside the UR. There's a giant crater in the road, and the NTPD are currently loading a sparking gorilla robot into a big truck.

Ari walks towards the area from the south, whistling low at the mess. "Man, I miss all the fun." she sighs.

Caracol says, "At worst I can warp home and buy a new one from the shops though." Saying as much, he digs into his vest before pulling out a purple scouter and clicking it into place over one eye. He starts tapping away at the side of it as he peers over the general area."

Skeeve nods a little bit at that. "Well, I'll leave that to you, then... this sort of thing seems like it'd be outside my sphere of expertise, anyway." He looks over as Ari walks around the corner, offers her a wave and a smile. "Over here!"

Oh, and there's a VF in Gerwalk mode he's leaning against. A VF-27 no less. And Jack looks at Skeeve, "Heh..sorry Skeeve." he says sheepishly, "..old habits." he says as he nods to Ari. "Hey Ari." he says he puts away his PADD and sits on the VF's hand.

Ari turns as she hears her name and smiles. "Hey guys!" she walks over to Skeeve and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "I see I missed things. Again." she chuckles.

Caracol says, "Heh, expertise nothing. I'm just guessing this might work." He keeps scanning over the area looking around quite through like. "There we go, I'm picking up a recent spacial disturbance. That's probably our warp. I'll save the information this gives me and hand it over to go with anything your machinery can pick up on."

Karrde hmms, "Yeah..robot gorilla firing off death rays." he says with a sigh and he nods to Caracol. "Falcon's scanning the area now." he says with a nod, "If anything pings..we'll combine it and find the source."

Caracol pops the scanner back off, and with an obvious lack of care for the thing, tosses it in Karrde's direction. One of the various reasons he wouldn't have ben surprized if the thing was dead.

Karrde nods as he catches it and puts it in a compartment on his VF.

Skeeve slips an arm around Ari's waist, replies, "If it makes you feel any better, I missed it too. Sounds like it was pretty nasty." He cricks his neck. "Well, if you do find anything, let me know, hm? I wouldn't mind getting in on that."

Karrde nods, "Plan on it Skeeve." he says as he cracks his neck, "That was just a massacre. Put and simple, there was no reason for it." and his eyes narrow, "And those are the kind that really annoy me."

Ari watches the conversation, leaning into Skeeve's side."Robot gorilla." she shakes her head.

Caracol says, "Some civilians got vaporized. Thankfully we saved most of them, but there was still way too many more deaths than there should have been."

Karrde looks at Ari, "Not the weirdest I've seen Ari." he says as he looks at Caracol and his eyes turn cold. "Yeah..." he says softly.

Skeeve shrugs a little bit at that. "Robot gorilla. You know I'm not making it up because if I was, it'd make more sense." The discussion of civilian casualties seem to leave him at a loss for anything meaningful to say.

Ari frowns hearing about the civilian casualties. "So who sic'ed the robot on the city?

Caracol says, "That's what we're wanting to figure out, actually. Umm...this guy thinks maybe they were sent by someone and we might be able to find out who."

Karrde looks at Ari, "We got no idea..we're trying to figure that out now. I got Falcon scanning the area to try and match up if this was a deliberate attack OR a random gate." he says with a sigh.

Jenny steps out of a swirling silver portal that appears in midair, and closes just as suddenly behind her.

Skeeve shrugs at that. "There doesn't seem to have been much advance notice, from what I understand."

Jenny comes flying down, landing in a whoosh or rocket-jets! O_O.."Oh man...I missed all the action??

Karrde tilts his head, "Inconclusive?" he asks as he looks at the sky, "Falcon...go over them again. And use those ones you got from Mitsuo if you need to." he says as he looks at Jenny, "Everyone's saying that." he says as he looks at Ari and Skeeve.

Caracol says, "Oh! Hi, umm....sorry I'm really bad with names, but I know I met you before."

Ari nibbles her lip a little in thought.

Jenny Hmms? "Oh, my name's Jenny," she greets, then looks around. "Wow..what a mess! What idiot was shooting off bombs around here?

Skeeve grins a little bit at that. "It is something of a popular opinion, yeah."

Caracol says, "Some robot gorilla decided it was time to kill all humans. I'm starting to wanna just have a reverse brain reading abilitiy so I can just beam the situation into every one's head."

Jenny says, "Robot Gorilla? That's pretty wacked...."

Jenny says, "Anything I can do here to help?"

Karrde sighs as the NTPD hauls off the containment unit. "Not much..they carted the thing off. I'm gonna have to get with them to have my people check that thing over. Maybe we can find out where it came from if we check it's data." he says as he looks at his VF, "Anyway..I'm gonna go park this thing at the airfield. Meet up with you guys later." he says as he goes to power up the fighter.

Jenny says, "Ah, geez, firs random monster attack and I'm home taking a nap...." -.-

Caracol says, "Well we're trying to track the warp field to see can figure out who sent the thing, but that's still a thing in progress."

Ari nods. "Well, if there's anything I can do, let me know.

Skeeve offers a casual wave to Jack as he heads back towards his ship. He smiles cheerily at Ari. "I can think of a few things."

Jenny holds up a hand, which morphs into a screen-pad style scanner. "Hmm...let me take a look...."

Karrde looks at Jenny as he clambers into the Vf, "It's NeoTokyo, wait a bit and something will happen. Now step back." and he brings the thrusts up and as he brings down the cockpit he brings the variable figher up and when it gets high enough he shifts it to fighter mode and takes off.

Jenny says, "Hmm...high tachyon wave ratio.....remnants of a warp field...inconclusive results...."

Caracol says, "That's what we've ran into too so far."

Jenny says, "Probably some random interdimensional nut-job..."
