Alexa is sitting at the bar as usual, having already ordered. A beer appears in front of her, and she thanks the bartender.

Zelan steps into the Usual Restaurant, her hands in the pockets of her hoodie, the hood currently down. She glances around the place before heading over to the bar itself, where she sits with a bit of an annoyed sigh.

Alexa takes a sip of her beer. "Now that was needed." she blinks at the rather audible sigh. "I ain't meanin' to pry, but are you alright?" she says to the newcomer.

Zelan glances up at Alexa and shrugs. "Depends on how you define it, I suppose. It's been a bit stressful for me, getting here and trying to make a living. I've not had money troubles this bad since..." She pauses, thinking about this. "Well, ever, I suppose."

Alexa blinks, then smiles just a little. "I was in your shoes about five months ago. It gets better." she looks to the bartender. "Whatever she wants, on me."

Zelan raises an eyebrow at the offer at first, then sighs. Apparently taking charity isn't something she's used to, but she can't help but recognize that she could really use it right now. "Thanks," she says, clearly uncomfortable with the situation. When the bartender arrives, she orders a fairly large meal platter. Apparently she was quite hungry! There's also a request for a fruity beer along with it. That said and done, she offers an apologetic looking smile to Alexa. "It's rough finding a decent job when you're as specialized as I am... I've had to resort to working... retail." She says that as if it is a truly horrible thing.

Alexa looks a bit confused. "Retail? I ain't got a clue what that means, honestly. But I know the feelin'. Luckily there was work in my field. What do you do?" She takes another sip of beer and her dinner comes in, steak, mashed potatoes, and corn.

Zelan raises an eyebrow. "You don't know what.... I'm working in a retail store?" She sighs and shakes her head. "I'm in design. Starship and systems design, specialized in magic technology hybrid systems."

Alexa nods a little, cutting up her steak. "I didn't know what the word retail meant. I ain't exactly from 'round here myself." she grins. "Design, huh? Well, I can't promise nothin', but I can ask around, if you'd like."

Zelan sighs and nods, but doesn't look very hopeful. "I keep getting told things like that, but no one ever gets back to me. And I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by that, it seems no one is actually 'from' around here."

Alexa says, "Few are that I know of. But I'm a starship pilot, so at least I can ask around. My girlfriend may know someone at the very least." she smiles."

Zelan sighs and shrugs. "Well, it can't hurt to try... I am Zelan Darkflower, former head of Design Team Petal of Magus Spaceworks," she says as she extends a hand. She certainly likes to give out her credentials.

Alexa takes Zelan's hand and gives it a firm shake. "Alexa Donovan. Currently helmswoman on the Phoenix in the NTSDF. Formerly a pilot for a smugglin' operation in my own world." She chuckles. "Nice to meet ya."

Zelan raises an eyebrow. "Ah, so actual military, then? I would be interested in some contract work if it came down to it. As I said, I have a lot of experience with design, specialized as it is. I've done my time as a military tech, as well, but..." She shrugs. "I'm not so interested in going back to that unless nothing else can come up."

Alexa nods. "Well, I can't say nothin' to that, but I can ask." she thinks a moment. "Wait, who was it.." she shakes her head. "Damn, slipped my mind." she chuckles. "I've been studyin' so much I'm forgettin' other things."

Zelan leans over towards Alexa as her food arrives. "Who was what? Describe what you're talking about and it might come to you."

Alexa takes a bite of her steak. "I met someone a few months ago who had a shop of some sort, I just can't remember who it was." she hehs. "I admit, if it ain't about ships or my girlfriend, I have the worst memory."

Zelan pauses a moment before suggesting, "Frey's? I've been there, but apparently the owner is off planet at the moment. I may want to just have a more proper conversation with the rest of the staff there, maybe they'll still be able to help somehow."

Alexa shakes her head. "Don't know that name..." she blinks, then says something in Chinese. "Right, it's her mom or step mom or used to be or somethin'. Got a workshop down south. How the hell I could forget that place I ain't rightly certain." she actually gets a slight blush to her cheeks.

"Her... mom? Whose mom?" Zelan asks, clearly not following what Alexa is talking about, though she is now mentally noting to check off to the south.

Alexa smiles. "My girlfriend's, sorry. It's a proper workshop too, bunch of machinery for makin' stuff." she takes a sip of her beer. "Like I said, I ain't promisin' nothin', but even a small lead is better than none."

Zelan frowns slightly as she nods slowly, then takes a bite of her food. After having chewed and swallowed, she asks, "So.... where exactly is this place? Does the workshop have a name I can look out for?"

Alexa has to think about that a moment. "That... not that I know of? It's a former warehouse with an air field behind it." she drums her fingers on the bar. "Only been a few times, and I ain't rightly sure how to get there."

Zelan frowns slightly, looking a bit deflated again. "Ah, I see. Well, I'll get you my contact information, then, if that's okay? Maybe she can contact me if she needs the assistance." She pulls a phone out as her eyes suddenly flit out a bit, and a number floats above the phone as a hologram.

Alexa reaches into her jacket and pulls out an old fashioned pencil and notepad, jotting down the number. "I'll pass it along, promise." she smiles. "Hopefully it'll get ya somethin'."

Zelan sighs and takes a swig of her beer. "Forgive me for being a bit pessimistic right now, but I still appreciate it. I'm starting to go a bit crazy as it is."

Alexa nods a bit, taking another bite of food. "I know that one. When I got here I was marooned, broke, hungry..." she chuckles. "In fact, I came here tryin' to get a free pity drink out of the bartender." she smiles. "A stranger helped me out and.. well, we live together now, and I couldn't be happier. But at least I can pay the good deed forward."

Zelan offers a weak smile. "Well, I guess I'm not going to get that last bit of luck, but thanks for the rest. Then again, I had money for a drink. I'm just tired of eating the cheapest food I can find at the store to get by. One week of that is too much for me already." She sighs. "I'm really missing my bank account."

Alexa nods at that. "I'm used to canned food for the most part. Now I'm gettin' used to food with decent seasoning." she laughs a little. "Like I said, things'll pick up. If they can for me, they can for damned near anyone.

"Well...." Zelan raises her bottle of beer. "Here's hoping it picks up sooner rather than later for me." She then takes a swig of the beer before going after her food again.

Alexa raises her bottle as well. "Hear hear!" she grins. "So, what world are ya from, anyway?"

Zelan chews on her food for a moment before swallowing. "Gabro. Grew up looking at the shipyards in orbit, wanting to be up there with the big ships. My dad worked at the fleet offices up there, so of course mom wanted us nearby. Though I'm going to take a wild guess and say that didn't mean anything to you."

Alexa and Zelan are sitting at the bar eating some dinner. She laughs a little. "Not a damned thing, I'm afraid." she grins. "I mean, I'm sure if I said anything about my world, you wouldn't understand either, though apparently some people here have watched the show. Which I'm not even in."

Rainbow_Dash bursts in, looking around all over, zipping around the place, searching.."Where IS she?? anybody seen a small yellow Pegasus with pink mane, tail and big blue eyes?? Anybody??"

Zelan nods in agreement to Alexa. "No, probably not, I-" Her train of thought is, of course, derailed right off a bridge as the rainbow maned pegasus flies all about the restaurant. "....No. No, I have not."

Alexa blinks a bit at the zooming blue pegasus. "Er, what's her name again.. Flutterby? I ain't seen her since I met her a few days ago.

Rainbow_Dash says, "You know her? You haven't seen her? She didn't get home last night!" O.O"

Alexa shakes her head. "No, sorry. I take it she don't stay out too often."

Zelan glances between the two and just goes back to eating her food. She's never seen a pegasus before, so she's assuming she'll be of no help finding one.

Rainbow_Dash says, "Argh, thanks, gotta fly! Tell her to get home if ya see her!!" she zooms back out in a flash of multi-colored speed!

Zelan says, "Well... that was... interesting."

Alexa nods a little. "No kiddin'. Sad to say I'm gettin' used to it. I hope that pony gets home alright. She seemed nice."

Zelan takes another swig of her beer before saying, "Well, if she was nice, then I hope she gets home all right as well." She frowns, looking through the top into the empty bottle before setting it down and going back to her food. "This is a very strange city, indeed," she says before stuffing her mouth again.

Alexa nods, ordering more beer for the both of them. "Strangest I've seen. And I've seen colonies that farm mud. Mud." she shakes her head.

Zelan says, "Farming... Mud?" She considers this for a moment. "Well, if it's being done as a way of transporting fertile soil... but it would be much more efficient to transport it without the excess water, wouldn't you think?"

Alexa nods. "Definitely. But yeah, mud. I never asked. I don't deal with stuff dirtside too often. No need.
