Summary: Robin and Summer meet up at the boardwalk, nearly getting into a fight with Flandre, but Billy deflates that situation. Later, the two go to the mall to try to expand Summer's wardrobe. But while Summer gets a lot of things there, Robin also gets something out of it... Who: Billy Batson, Flandre, Robin C, Summer When: September 29th, 2017 Where: Boardwalk, Gingeki Mall |
EARLY NIGHT The sun has gone down over the horizon causing the great temple in the city to reduce its glow, signaling the sleep of the local god of the city. And with the gods asleep, that means the children of the night can roam free. Up in the sky a brightly colored figure can be seen. Flandre Scarlet, local vampire lord, floats down from the cold night sky with colorful wings outsretched. Her red eyes glow in the night and her fangs are bared in a delighted grin. What kind of playmate shall she find tonight? An unusual one! A curvy figure with silver hair...wolf ears...and seven tails is walking along the boardwalk, happily munching on bacon jerky, a new favorite food she's discovered since coming here. And also a somewhat more usual one... as already leaning against the guard rail, looking out to sea at the rising stars, is an already tired looking Robin. Having spent much of the afternoon attemping once more to find his missing friend, it's been an exausting day of tree-hopping out in the woods. For now, he wants the fresh sea air in his face... even if the sea does bring back some bad memories for him. Interesting! Yes indeed! Its not often that Flandre sees people about, let alone this many. Yes, the fact that she considers two a crowd might say how unnused to company she is.. perhaps her reputation through out town has spread. Nevertheless, she's not about to squander this opportunity. The little winged girl lands upon the boardwalk and waves at the two. "Good evening! Good evening!" She seems excited! "Robin, hey!" Summer grins and waves a few of those sinuous tails in a friendly greeting. Then she notices how seemingly exhausted he looks. The grin fades. "Still driving yourself crazy trying to find that girl Sakura, aren't you?" Then she turns at the sound of another voice, ears flipping up in curiosity. "Hello." Robin blinks and looks over at Summer as he hears his name. "Oh! Hey, Summer... uhhh... yeah. Not every day, of course, but... I felt like it this afternoon, since I got out of work relatively early." His attention, too, is then drawn by the overly cheerful and excited greeting from the strange girl. "Uh... hi?" Well then! Looks like these two already know each other! Aw! Could it be they are playmates? Maybe, Flandre thinks, they might let her in on their games! The little girl cheekily skips towards the two and gives another enthusiastic wave. "Hiii!" Huh, this is kind of awkward, Flandre doesn't really have anything to say but she's started for things to do, so she just kind of reverts to her usual bratty self. "You guys know any good games??" Summer gives Robin a bemused look, before turning towards Flandre again. "Uh...can't really say I do." she replies. Nothing that would make sense in this world, at least. "Uhm...who are you, exactly?" Robin looks to Summer with confusion, then back at the odd girl. "...Uhhh... Not off the top of my head, uh... We're not at the arcade... and I've heard there's a lot of good board games and such, but I don't... own any of them?" "Oh! Of course! How rude of me." Bratty as she might be Flandre has learned some manners thanks to her mentor Morgana and to a greater extent her fiance Sae. She clears her throat and does a little curtsy. "I am Flandre Scarlet. Owner of the Scarlet Devil Mansion restaurant." She chirps. "Maybe you've heard of it!?" She waves her hand at Robin's suggestions. "Oh I love arcade and board games, but tonight I'm up for something more physical. Like danmaku!" "Although I guess I should ask your names too if you are to be my play mates~" "Uhm.....can't say I've heard of it." Summer replies. "I'm Summer, a Knight of Teknoria." she says. "I've also never heard of 'danmaku'." She scratches an ear curiously. Robin peers at Flandre for a moment. . o O ( Sounds familiar... The place where that Fox girl... Bridget, was it? ...worked at? ...I never did go there... ) He then shrugs lightly. "I.... think we've met. You do look familiar. Robin Caldworth the waitor, though." He then winces slightly at the mention of wanting to play something physical. "Ugh... sorry, I think I might pass. I'm pretty tired, and would really rather take things easy tonight." He looks to Summer again, then back at Flandre with a shake of his head to signify that he hasn't heard of 'Danmaku' either. "Aaaw man." Flandre seems dissapointed! Both at Summer's lack of knowladge of danmaku and Robin's unwillignes to play. Sae did tell her, if people don't want to play don't force them! That's one of the rules she said she'd follow. "Well, danmaku is simply a volley of fire. That's when I shoot you and then you try to dodge!" Lovely. "But since you're tired... hmm.. guess I can think of something. Anyway! Nice to meet you two! I hope we can be friends."
Billy Batson comes walking along the boardwalk; arms loaded with stuffed toys he's apparently won in the games...and he begins passing them out to some of the kids in the crowd! 'there you go, kids! Enjoy! take care of 'em!" he smiles, waving as the kids happily run off! Robin blinks at that a few times. "....What? N....no. I wouldn't want to do that anyway! That doesn't sound like a game, it sounds more like... raw training!" He sighs and hangs his head over the railing somewhat. "...Sure, Summer," he says tiredly, "hit me." "Oooh, yes, I'd love some snacks!" Flandre says. Best way to get her off you without actually having to fight her? Snacks. Snacks and toys. "Woo! Toys!" She catches sight of Billy handing out stuffed animals and rushes towards him. "Gimmegimmegimme!" "If you'd said that to me sixty years ago I would have asked you why you wanted me to strike you." Summer says with a wry grin, holding the bag out to Robin, and turns her gaze after Falndre. "...Strange girl." Billy Batson hmms? at Flandre, "Sure thing...um..hope you like purple gorillas! That's the only one I have left!" He animates it playfully, "Grape Ape! Grape Ape!" in a deep silly voice! Here ya go! He likes you!" Robin raises his head again, looking back at Flandre again. "...She is... an easily distracted one, isn't she?" he asks as he reaches for a peice of jerky. He's getting used to Summer always showing up with bacon jerky now, and is getting more open with the idea that she just likes sharing something she really enjoys, thus keeping him from feeling guilty about possibly taking advantage of what she might see as straight politeness. Still, he doesn't take much, as he never really does. "Well, at least she's happy. But that 'game'......I don't think I want to know what world she's from that that's considered a form of play." She shakes her head. "So, I managed to get about half my money changed over earlier today. I knew gold was valuable, but I think I underestimated how much it was worth here." "I freaking LOVE PURPLE GORILAS!" Flandre excalims a little -too- excitedly for a girl of her apparent age. The little girl makes a grab for the toy and starts spinning around with it. "Wheeeee!!" Around and around she goes until eventually, somehow, the grape ape just EXPLODES into tiny bits. "Woops!" Billy Batson says, "Whoa...holey moley!" he blinks, "You're just a little bit excitable," he laughs, "Well, he got way too much love I guess! Poor guy!"" Robin nods with a grin to Summer as he chews on his jerky. "Yeah! It was a lot the same for me. I managed to get by without a job for a while, too... and I didn't have most of my gold on me when I popped over here! Most of it was in my bag, which... somehow got left behind, along with a lot of my other equipment." He sighs and hangs his head. Some of that stuff would have been really useful, too! He then looks back again at the girl and the boy that just showed up and... sweatdrops. "...I'm... not sure what is going on with that girl..." "He.. he broke." Flandre says sadly and points at the cinders of the once proud purple primate. Its almost as if she's not aware that was totally her fault. One doesn't need to be able to sense magic to know that it was the raw power coming from her that obliterated the toy. Billy Batson says, "Uh...well..don't worry! I'll win you another. I'm pretty good at these games." "That reminds me." Summer says, munching on some of the jerky herself. "I need to look for a place to live now that I have money that fits this world." She looks over at the remnants of the gorilla. "I'll be right back." She says, handing him the bag of the jerky and walking over, picking up the piece of the gorilla. If there's enough, she may just be able to do something. Robin nods idley. "Well, if you go to the Open Arms, it'll be near my place. But... again, I'd not call it the best of quality, from what I'm told." He then blinks as he's handed the bag of jerky, silently watching to see what Summer is doing. "Yaaay!" Flandre is quickly back to good spirits and she jumps and down. "Win a toy for me, big brother!" She squeals in delight, acting like her apparent age. Meanwhile, Summer will find that the ape is very obliterated. Only its charred head remins while the rest of it has been turned into smoking cinders. Summer frowns. Well, it's a start. She dusts off the head, and walks back over towards Robin, letting the armor subsume the thing, hiding it away in whatever place it takes stuff to. "Maybe I can give that a new body later." She says, reaching into the bag of jerky for a few pieces of it, content to let Robin hold it. "Open Arms, huh? That's the place across from that tavern they call the Usual, right?" Billy Batson says, "Sure thing!" he walks over to a booth, pulling out some money, he proceeds to try and win a prize for the odd -but exuberant- girl!" Robin still offered the bag back, but if she only took peices from it, Robin will just go ahead and keep a hold of it. "New body? you make stuffed animals for fun? And... no, it's a bit of a ways to the south of the Usual... but there's another place closer to it called the UNusual Restaurant. My guess is the place was started by an ex employee with a beef to settle..." He frowns as the boy goes to try to win more for Flandre. "...I... kinda question if anything would stand up to her, the way the gorilla just... disintegrated." Taking back said bag when offered, Summer nods. "Seems not to know her own strength." Then blinks. "Huh. Usual and UNusual, huh? Well, at least it's a place to start. Besides, I could do worse for neighbors than a friend." she says with a grin, and a hug with one of her tails. "What does it cost to live there?" "And no, but I do know my way around a needle and thread. And the little guy didn't deserve an end like that. Maybe I can give him a new home with someone who needs the kind of comfort a toy like that can offer." "Wheee!! Yay! Kick some butt and win me another toy!!" Flandre exclaims with delight and though her cheerful voice sounds cute, it also has bossy undertones. She's not asking for a toy, she's demanding it. It takes Billy a few tries, but eventually he wins a weird looking stuffed flamingo! "Here you go, miss, be careful with this one, okay? Robin leans back against the guard rail, elbows slightly over the edge as he gives the amount he's paying, a fairly cheap amount. "...Of course, that's for a studio... and I'm doing pretty well with spare money for now since that's really cut in half thanks to my roommate... but I think we probably should get a bigger place... with serpate rooms. It's... odd living with someone when there's that little privacy." "Yaaaay! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!" Flandre says excitedly and grabs hold of the Flamingo. She then lifts it up in the air with defiant victory. "This is the best toy eveeeeeeer!" Aaaaand.. BOOM! It also explodes. "AAAWW! Why do they all break!!??" Billy Batson blinks, "Wow...I..have no idea..." he scratches the back of his neck, puzzling. Something weird is going on, of course. "......" Summer stares at the exploding flamingo. ".....I get the feeling she's an unknowing pyromancer." She says with a sigh. Then looks over at Robin. "Well, why not get a larger place then if you have a roommate and enough money to do so?" Then she smirks a bit at the comment about privacy. "Lemme guess. She had a bed less than a foot away from yours?" Robin blinks. "....Does he... not realize that she's doing it? For that matter, how does she not realize it?" He then looks back at Summer and shrugs. "We've just not gotten around to it. And no, our futons are on opposite sides of the room, but it's still just one room plus a bathroom." "No fair! No fair!!" Flandre now starts to simply cry like the little girl that she is. "Everything I touch breaks! Why????" She sobs bitterly and covers her face with her palms. Soon, random things around her start blowing up! A lampost? BOOM! The toy machine? BOOM! A random rock? BOOM! Billy Batson says, "Whoa...holey moley! Calm down, miss! I...I';; buy you a snow cone!" ".....Oh great, a long range pyromancer! Just what we need!" She moves to pull Robin out of the way of any and all shards from the fying shrapnel. Of course, this just means getting him pretty well acquianted with the curves on the wolfgirl's body if she manages to get him out of harm's way. Robin yelps as he's pulled about. "Gah! Hold on, I'm an adventurer, too, I can handle myself in an explosion!" He yelps again as he's pulled that close again, then says, "We need to talk to her! Hey! Flandre!" he says. "Calm down! It's you! It's your power that's making things explode! So if you just, uh, chill out, they won't explode anymore!" And just like that! Flandre is back to normal! "Yay! Ice cream! I love ice cream!" She hops a bit and claps. Wait, isn't she the owner of a restaurant? Doesn't she realize that she can get her own ice cream?? Apparently not... just like she doesn't realize its her excitment that's killing the toys. Billy Batson phews and heads over to score her a snow-cone. Holey Moley, not much money left either! But he'll manage! Summer blushes a bit. "Sorry. Force of habit. Explosions tend to mean bad things for people. And well...i have armor...." she says, looking a bit embarrassed at having just reacted on instinct. Then realizes how close she is to Robin, and stares a moment, before hastily letting go. "Uhm...yeah. Kind of an ingrained reaction kind of thing..." she mumbles, a bit redder now. Robin blinks at the sudden end to the explosions, then looks back to Summer as she's let him go. "Um, uh, yeah, well... I might not have my armor, but I'm just as good at dodging without it." As if his 'armor' really covered enough to be considered proper armor... but hey, it's magic. "But... Something tells me that had absolutely nothing to do with what I said..." Billy Batson returns with the snow-cone! He chose cherry randomly, figuring, who doesn't like cherry? Hopefully it won't blow up or something....but of she's happy, mission accomplished! "Woohoo!" Indeed, who -doesn't- like cherry? Certainly not Flandre! She loves BLOOD-err, cherry, yes, it's delicious. "Thank youu~." Flandre goes for the snow cone and begins licking happily... aaand... ... Yeah, this time it doesn't explode. Phew! Billy Batson phews! "You're welcome!" Mission accomplished! Summer chuckles shyly. "I dunno if what you have counts as armor." she tries to joke. "Metal swimsuit maybe." She adds with a wink. And thankfully the ice cream doesn't explode. That would just be weird. ...And messy. "So if that's how much it costs for a studio, I wonder what a decent one bedroom might cost? I'll have to get some furniture too...." Robin laughs lowly, perhaps a bit nervously... "Yeah, furniture... I had pretty much... nothing for a while. My Kotatsu and a single futon was all I had for a few months. Even after Marion moved in, she was using my old bedroll for a bit before she bought a matching futon to mine... and we've just each got our own wardrobes. So... yeah, you'll need that, too." Flandre is happily licking her ice cream for now. She'll be a good girl at least until she manages to finish it. Summer blinks. She hadn't thought of that. "Uhm...do they make clothes for people like me?" she asks, rustling her tails a bit to show what she's really asking; whether or not someone with her tails can find good clothes here. Billy Batson just simply waves and moves off into a nearby crowd, enjoying the boardwalk and taking in the sights. Robin pauses, then shrugs. "Probably? I've seen a few people with tails about, so they've got to get their clothes from... somewhere. I'd say it's worth at least looking in the mall? There's got to be some tailors in a city like this if you can't, and I'd bet they'd be up for the challange!" Summer giggles a bit. An actual, girlish giggle. "Well, these tails are definitely that." she says with a shake of her head. "So would you be willing to help me pick of some clothes then? You've lived here longer. I trust you to know what's actually 'normal' for this place, in terms of clothing." Robin blinks at the giggle... somehow, it sounds just odd coming from Summer. "Uhhh... I guess? I'm... really not much good with style though, still, I've gotta admit. You... probably can find someone better." Summer gives a light smile. "I doubt it. You know this place better than I do, but you also know me, so I'd like to think I can trust you to know what would be worthwhile to pick up." Robin looks around. "...We should've thanked that boy, though. He really saved the day here." He then frowns again as he looks back to Summer. "Yeah, but as far as I know, the only style you like to wear is 'armored'. As far as I'm concerned, the most important part of style is that it's what you want to wear." "I wear the armor because it's what I wear in case of combat or emergency. But even Knights need some time off now and then." Then she blushes a bit and looks off to the side. "I uhm...never got around to figuring out what kind of clothes I like back when I joine dthe Order. I just..threw on whatever they had in my size and that would accomodate my tails." she says, sounding a bit shy at admitting that. Robin looks down at Summer's tails again and says begrudgingly, "Yeah... the 'accomodating your tails' part might be the real clincher, in the end." He sighs and glances to the north. "We can try for the mall, but... well, I think anything you find is still going to need to be altered, isn't it?" "Maybe....but still, I do trust your opinion on clothes here." Summer says. She doesn't even know what this world's clothes are made of. Robin stands up straight and stretches his arms a bit. "Well... shall we see what's still open, then, in that case? Might as well give it a shot, right?" That draws a nod and a wide smile. "Sounds like a plan." she says, tails swishing and fluttering about her. "And it's always more fun to explore with a friend, right?" Robin smirks and nods. "And it certainly can't be more awkward than the time I asked Hisako to help me out!" He laughs twice, then frowns. "Or would it still be less awkward if I went as Strimla, now that I think about it? It kind of seems... creepy otherwise, when I think about it from the outside." "...I don't see how. It's not like I don't know who you really are." Summer says, tilting her head to one side. "So I don't think there's any reason for you to change." Robin keeps his frown, but then shrugs. "All right, if you say so... But if people start giving me dirty looks, I say we stop and com back tomarrow or something." He streches his arms over his head and then motions with his head towards the north. "Welp. No time like the present! It's nearby, remember?" "If anyone gives you dirty looks, I'll just bop'em with my tails." Summer jokes. Then nods. "Lead on, good sir! I will defer to your sense of direction." she says, deliberately hamming it up and adding a formal bow, meant purely to be playful, but with a surprisingly courtly nature to it, even more so than her old Teknorian greeting. More like what a noble might do. Robin might not look it, but he's had multiple run-ins with royalty, himself, so he's seen that kind of formality... and rolls his eyes at it, recognizing it for the playful nature it's intended. "All right, all right. No one's formally actually knighted me, ya know." Summer blushes a bit, as she catches herself going way too formal, even as a joke. Not a good idea to give that secret away if she can help it. She smiles. "More's the pity. I could see you wearing that proudly." Robin frowns and looks away as they walk along. "Yeah, well... I think by now I prefer my freedom. I'll save a kingdom, sure. Save the princesses in a heartbeat, even if it killed me." An odd turn there in his speech, going from what sounded like hypothetical... to personal experience. "But when I call myself a Magic Knight? Yeah, it's not a real title. Maybe when I was younger I'd have jumped at the chance, but..." Summer flinches a bit at the mention of the word princess. But then chuckles. "The Knights of the order of Teknoria don't chain the members of their brotherhood. We have our freedom to act and move as we need. We have only one commandment; to help others against those who would oppress them." True, in the case of the Knights back home, that oppression comes most often at the hands of magic users, but it's not restricted to just them. "I wouldn't mind seeing you as a member, if you ever wanted to be. I'd induct you myself. You're more than worthy enough of it." Robin lowers an eyebrow at the flinch, then sighs and shrugs. "Yeah, well. That's there, and we're here, so it's kinda moot." He then looks up and smirks. "And when I said 'we're here,' that went for more ways than one. Welcome to the Mall." Summer nods. "So we are." She says, looking around. "Uhm....which of these are clothing stores?" she asks, feeling fookish for not being sure. Robin looks around at the stores, then says, "I think almost all of them, honestly. Only a couple here and there that aren't really... uhhh... I'm going to be honest with you, I don't really know where to start much more than you do." He does, however, point out the directory. "So... I guess take a look at the directory and see what store names look... promising?" "Hmm. Worth a look at least." She says, and heads over to it, looking through to see which would be at least interesting, if nothing else. "Hmmm. I'm not sure which seems like the better choice." Summer muses. "The Gap or this other thing called the Limited." Robin just looks utterly lost as he looks through the choices. "I... I'm not going to pretend to know," he freely admits. "Hmmm. Let's try the Limited first, and then try the Gap afterwards?" Summer suggests, not sure what else to do. Robin pauses as he enters, then looks over to Summer. "So... Like I said, I think it's more your choice that matters than mine in all this, of course. Soooo.... Let's say I can point out if something is gonna be inappropriate for everyday use or if it's just... really bad looking?" He scratches at the side of his head, really unsure of doing this as a guy, still. "That'd make the most sense." Summer replies, looking around. The store is....trendy is probably a good word. Moreso than she was expecting, in fact. A salesman comes up to the pair. "Good evening, sir, madam, welcome to the Limited. What can we do for you tonight?" he asks. Robin simply points to Summer, "All her," he says, not wanting to speak on her behalf, just redirect the man's attention to the actual shopper. Cue montage. Summer is swept into the Limited, with Robin more or less just brought along for the ride. The clothes are definitely new for her. They also seem designed to show off her body. A few decades ago, that might have bothered her. Now? She kind of likes it. The prices aren't too bad, either, at least, given the money she now has at her disposal. She ends up picking up two sets after modelling a few for the staff and Robin. One is a set of formal gear, which flatters her figure, and which thankfully is easy enough to modify pretty much on the spot due to having a device in store that can accommodate for tails. The other is more casual, but still trendy. And again, her figure is very hard to hide. They also talk her into a bikini, of all things. Cue a LOT of blushing through that short layer of fur when she at last comes out at the end of being talked int the thing. "Uhm...how do I look?" she says shyly, twirling in place when she walks out in it. Robin blinks and averts his eyes at first, but when he's asked how she looks, well, he has to, doesn't he? "It looks... great on you!" he says. "But isn't it a bit... late in the season for that? You, uh, are aware that's intended to be used primarily with swimming?" He's spent enough time at the beach to know this.... even if the one swimsuit he owns as Strimla is a far more modest one-peice. The thought of that makes him wince again, recalling that day she let herself get sunburnt so bad her skin started to match her hair color. "But, yeah! Looks good." "Late in the season doesn't mean out of season." The saleman says with a chuckle. "However, look at it this way, you'll be fully prepared for next summer as this design is trendy enough that nobody will find out of date. Plus, there are heated pools in the city that are open year round." Summer ponders this. "....I guess I'll take it." she says after a few moments of thought, and once she manages to get back into her armor, she pays for the clothes. "Uhm....thanks for helping us out." she says to the salesman. Who jovially waves it off. "Not a problem, ma'am. It's rare that I get to help out a nice young couple such as the two of you, and you were both wonderfully patient with us." Robin suddenly holds his hands up in a very defensive gesture. "We're, not, uh, we're just friends!" He doesn't want people to get the wrong idea! "I'm helping her out because she's still new to town, and, uh... yeah." "Oh? Well, either way." The salesman says with a laugh. "Rare that we see a man confident enough in himself to help a girl shop here." Summer blushes a deeper red at the insinuation of being a couple, but seems to take it in stride. Once they leave the Limited, she fusses a bit with one of her tails. "Sorry about that. I...didn't expect them to jump to teh conclusion that we were involved romantically." Though she's not sure she'd object to the idea in the least. Robin waves a hand dismissively. "Ehh. Don't... don't worry about it, Summer! But, ehh... yeah, avoiding confusion like that, you know, that was kinda what I was thinking when I though of changing." He shrugs, though, in the end. "But... well... yeah, it's not like... any harm was done... right?" "Yeah, that's true. Not that I'd mind going out with you sometime." She says. Then realizes what she just said and slaps a tail over her mouth, red faced. "Uhm...if you wanted, I mean." she says as they make their way across the mall towards the Gap, slowing to a stop, and feeling like a complete fool for putting her friend on the spot like that. Robin yawns as his long day starts to catch up with him, then he shakes his head vigourously. "I'm sorry, what were you saying? I kinda zoned out there for a minute," he says a bit ashamedly as they get to the next store in line. And cue Summer staring at Robin for a moment or two, before facepalming. Loudly. With one of her tails. "Never mind...." she says. Talk about crash and burn.... she heads towards the Gap realizing she may have just made an even BIGGER idiot out of herself than she thought. Robin blinks at the audible face....tail? "Are you sure? I... all right, if you say so." He frowns, feeling like he must have missed something important there. Important indeed. But Summer isn't about to go and make more of a fool out of herself by repeating it, and just heads for the Gap, trying to put that humiliation out of her head. Robin blinks and follows on, asking, "Are you okay?" Now he's worried he said something outright stupid somehow. "Am I ok, he asks." Summer mutters. "I tell him I wouldn't mind dating him and he yawns in my face. Oh sure, I'm just peachy!" she says, trying not to look as humiliated as she feels. Robin might not be able to tell what she's muttering, but he knows damn well that she's not happy with him. . o O ( Great. I screwed something up again. ) He sighs, shaking his head, hoping this trip doesn't get more awkward. Somehow, he's sure it will manage to find a way. Once inside the store, Summer begins looking around. The place looks...well, if there's a way to be the opposite of Limited, this place does it. All the pastel colors make her think of the Ponies. Her tails lash angrilly. Upset she indeed is. But for now, it's time to look for some clothes.... Robin watches as Summer browses the store, then dares to speak up again. "Uhhh... if it's not your style, we can... keep moving to another place?" Summer just stares at him for a moment. "You really didn't hear a word I said back there, did you?" she shakes her head in disbelief. How the hell did he miss it both times? He wasn't that far behind her. Robin blinks again, then shakes his head. "No... That was why I asked you to say it again." He sighs, hanging his head somewhat. "I'm sorry, it's been a long day for me." "....." Summer sighs. "If I said I was ok with going out with you, would tyou go yawn in my face again like last time?" Maybe it was just bad luck the first time? Robin blinks. "...Well... like I said, if you want to leave, we can try another..." He then forrows his brow... and is that a look of hope in his eyes? "Wait. When you say 'go out,' what do you mean?" Cue another facetailing. "I thought dating was still called 'going out' here. Did I get that wrong?" Summer asks, feeling even more embarrassed at having to spell it out. Robin blinks again as his brain finally starts catching up. And then his face goes a bit red, as well. "Um... I would not yawn," he says in answering her earlier question. "...Then you have the worst timing on yawns I've ever seen." Summer says flatly, indicating that yes, this is what she was upset at him yawning at earlier. But she does give a small, hopeful smile. "So then....you'd be interested?" Robin still seems quite surprised by this, and seems to be taking a few moments to form the words to respond. "I, uh.... y-yeah! I mean... sure!" Yes, it took him that long to come up with that. Apparently he's utterly shocked that Summer is taking that kind of interest in him. Summer's smile widens with relief. She reaches out two of her tails to try to pull Robin in closer. "Well then, we should figure out where to go for a first date." she says with a wide grin and playfuly lick to teh tip of his nose if she managed to get ahold of him with her tails. Robin yelps out again as he's pulled in, then goes bright red at the lick. A shy one, this is. "I, um, well... have no freaking idea. I've, uh, not thought about that kind of thing..." "Well, no time like the present then." Summer laughs playfully. Then looks around at the Gap. "...This place is way too pastel for me. Is there anything less....girly?" Robin laughs once, then looks outside. He looks like he's about to say something, but then winces slightly as she mentions 'girly'. "Um... yeah... that... that's a thing, though... If we're... going to... be a 'thing,' then... uhhh..." He grimaces before finally saying it out loud. "...You've got to be okay with dating both of me." "Hmm? Why wouldn't I?" Summer asks. Then realizes what she'd just said and how it might come off. "Oh. ...Oh!" she laughs in embrassement. "I just meant that this place doesn't feel like it fits me." she says, lightly gesturing around at the store with one of her tails. "But both side of you are you, so why would I not be ok with both sides? I don't care what body you have as long as it's you in here." she lightly brushes the top of Robin's head with another of said tails. Robin smiles. Definitely an awkward smile, but still a smile, nonetheless, one that's filled with relief. "Good... because... yeah. Both are me, and I'm both, if you know what I mean... Um... yeah, let's get out of this store. There's plenty of other places." Summer laughs and once the two head outside the Gap, they look around. Eventually finding a Hot Topic, which seems more Summer's style, where she picks up a few more sets of clothes, though thankfully none of these is some kind of uniform set. Once the shopping is done, Summer looks around a bit. "Hmm. You know, it's not a bad place here. Do they have those...what do they call them... 'movies' around here? Maybe we could see one of them or something for a first date?" Robin blinks, then nods a few times, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. "Yeah! Well, you know. Not here here, but I think I've seen some places that show them a few times in my travels... Um, yeah, we can..." He then blinks and looks down at his clothes. "....I'm going to need new clothes too, aren't I?" ".....You might. But don't break the bank over it. I mean, I grabbed these cause I literally have nothing but my armor." she says. Then adds in an audible mutter "....That and it ate the last clothes I had before I came here." She gives a lopsided grin. "Just make sure it's something you feel comfortable with and that you can afford and I'd call it a win if you absolutely feel the need to get new clothes." Robin blinks in confusion. "Your armor ate your clothes? Is it going to do that to these as well?" he asks with a bit of concern, but then he frowns. "I.... might have to hold off, yeah." "...There's a really long and convoluted story behind that. Remember how I mentioned I used to be a real stick in the mud?" Summer begins, looking embarrassed but amused all at once. Robin pauses a moment before nodding. "...You were tired of your old stick in the mud clothes? Or was... this even before, when you thought you'd never need anything but your armor?" he ventures as a guess. "Uhm.....short answer version, some of my fellow knights in the Order like to play pranks and I was a semi-constant victim cause I really, really needed to lighten up. I did tend to just use the armor a lot, but I did use normal clothes too. Once I learned to have a bit more fun, I started retaliating. That led to some...interesting prank wars over the years." She turns beat red as she says, "About a month ago, a friend of mine managed to get my armor set to pretty much eat my clothes as a prank. Since I was kind of in the middle of a quest at the time and needed my armor more than anything else, that wasn't quite the problem it is now....basically under this bio-weave, I'm in nothing but the fur I was born with." Robin blinks a couple of times. "Oh. So then you'd also still need... uhhh...." He glances upward. "...The first items I bought when I was getting clothing for my other form..." Robin is also going a bit red at that, as well, for the record ...of course, he's not really returned to his normal color since he was formally asked out. Coughing lightly into her tail, Summer nods in embarrassment. "Yeah. It's a quick enough fix and I did it right before I changed into that first outfit I tried on over in Limited. But you can imagine how things would have gone if I'd been required to remove the armor at any point prior to this trip...." Robin nods a few times, once again overenthusiastically. "Yeah... I knew it was going to have to be the first thing I needed, too... except I had no clue how to do it." He then glances upward for a second, then back to Summer with a nervous smile. "Soo.... are we good for, uh, your array of clothes for now, then? I think when I get home I'm going to absolutely collaspse into bed." "I'm good, yeah." Summer says, nodding. She leans in to give Robin a peck on the cheek. "Anything you'd like me to wear for our date?" Robin's face goes redder once more at the peck, predictably. "What? Uh... sorry. Ummm, surprise me? I'm... Yeah, trust your own judgement." He nods a couple of times once again. "Nothing you've gotten today would really dissapoint me, honestly!" "I'll keep that in mind. But seriously. You just think all my stuff makes my chest stand out more, don't you?" She winks playfully. She clearly does not mind that. She's hot. And she knows it. She's also good at getting Robin's face to grow nearly as red as his hair. "I, um, well, uh... I don't just think that," he manages to weakly state. | |
