Pale blue hair cropped in an untidy 'page boy' is probably the first thing you notice about this quiet young woman. Next might her eyes.They're red, not bloodshot, but the iris is nearly crimson. The heart shaped face has a snub nose and a pale pale complexion. You imagine from her habitually serious expression that she is older than she looks, Which would be early teens judging from her height and a little older judging from her feminine contours.

She's dressed in a vacuum tight white body suit with black trim. It completely covers her from neck to toe and fingertips. heavy wristbands seem to be part of the suit, That and some strange reinforcement bar along the lower ribs are the only parts of the suit that do not cling like a second skin. A little colour comes in the form of orange buttons on the wrist band and red fastenings at the neck and the front of the chest. Perhaps it's some sort of hi-tech spacesuit?

Rei is competent and even skilled EVA pilot, making up with determination and disregard for her own life, for any lack of flair or flourish.

She has her mother's housekeeping skills though she doesn't bother using them in her own domicile.

She is familiar with small arms particularly those used by NERV as part of her Giant Robot training.

Background

The year is 2015. Earth suffered a global catastrophe in 1999 that killed off much of the population and redrew the continents. Called First Impact and officially claimed to be a collision with an asteroid. Secretly it was known to be the fault of alien beings code named Angels. NERV was created to battle the angels and to that end created special giant robots, called Evangelion or EVA, that could only be piloted by certain children born since 2000 and identified in a document called the Marduk report.

The First Child identified by the Marduk report as a suitable pilot for an EVA, Rei's history and records had been erased. It has come to light that Rei is a clone, a hybrid human/angel made from the DNA of Gendou Ikari's (Commander of NERV) dead wife and former chief researcher combined with that of Lilith, an angel-like being kept deep within NERV headquarters. Rei was planned by Gendou to be a key Agent in his own secret version of Second Impact. An event the NERV was officially supposed to prevent. The Rei at the time of this Impact was third one decanted and she rebelled against Gendou, Foiling his plans but not preventing Second Impact.

This is Rei V, or maybe VI. A fresh clone recently hatched out of her test tube and found with her EVA in the badlands of Neotokyo.
