The cathedral, which has quickly become a safe haven for those that would stand against the awful Queen Zeal, is cold tonight. Cold and dark, lit only by eerie purple candles that float in the air between the pews. There seems to be no one around except for Magus... but he seems to be meditating. His back is towards the doorway. He is kneeling in the middle of the great round sigil he has painted on the ground. His body and hair are completely covered by the cloak he wears. There is a biting cold aura eminating from a few feet around him.

Rustling can be heard from the woods around the cathedral. At first, it's just the scaping of leaves across the damp grass, then soft snaps of twigs being crushed underfoot... a tiny streak of white may be visible running from tree to tree... before MArle bursts into the small clearing, hands on her knees and bent over herself panting heavily. "*pant, pant* Alright, I made it!" She stood up straight, checking her crossbow that remained slung over her shoulder... she'd approached from the side, so she walked over towards the front as soon as she'd caught her breath. What had she been doing out in the forest? Who knew... but now she was here. If MAgus was looking, he'd see her walking around to the front just now... "What the heck is -THAT- for?!" She blurted out of nowhere, blinking heavily at the magical circle...

Magus does not respond. Not in the least. Well... not vocally, anyway. He does, however, look up to Marle. His eyes are glowing deeply purple, to the point that they look engulfed in flame. Power is eminating from him fiercely. His body and his hair are still covered by the cloak... but it can be seen that in his arms are scraps of tattered clothing. White, gold, blue... the colors are not that different from what Marle herself seems to be wearing. Only... they are bloodstained.
The eyes of the mage focus intently on Marle, though they can not be seen because of the intense energy that burns in them.

Uh-oh... The stare was enough to get Marle a little bit spooked. Magus was CREEPY in every sense of the word, capital letters more than appropriate, when he was like this. (Well, when WASN'T he like this was a better question...) She took a few steps backwards as she took ANOTHER look at the sigils on the ground... o(That's the...)o UHHHHH-oh. It took her a bit to recognize it! She took another few steps backwards, her eyes again on the sorceror's... was that a glint of fear? Yes, but that was only natural. Slowly her eyes slid to what Magus was holding as well... "What are you doing...?!" Yeaaaah, she was creeped out. SERIOUSLY.

The air becomes cold. Freezing cold. Not just around Magus, but in the entire cathedral. The candles seem to slow in their flickering. Some of them are even snuffed out by the cold, frosty air. The breath of Magus can be seen as he exhales from his nose. His eyes still glow, but he tosses the tattered scraps into the middle of the sigil.
"Examine them," Magus says, his voice every bit as frigid as the atmosphere around Marle and himself. "What do you notice?" he asks. He knows Marle is fearful, and he expects her to react loudly in the way that she did... but if she is going to be here during this, he will make her participate.

Marle shivered a bit. Though ice was her own forte and she had a bit of resistance to it in a way, cold was ugh. Her gut sank with the temperature and she remained silent for a few moments. Her own breath could be seen as she let it out. She watches the tatters fly carefully. After a bit of that, she crossed her arms and stepped away from the circle. What WAS Magus up to? "Those clothes are all bloody! But who do they belong to..?" Uh-oh... she took another look. Those colors were awfully familiar. The theme of them was, anyways. But for the moment she had a hard time putting together just why... uncrossing her arms, she stepped back a bit further from the circle. "Don't get all mysterious on me! This circle's REALLY familiar!" Pushy when confused, wasn't she?

The mage points his finger at her. Long, extended and eminating a power of its own. "Do not get testy. I will answer the questions in time. Just tell me what you see," he says, eyes pulsing with energy. Not unlike the Mammon itself when Queen Zeal was infusing it with the energy of Lavos. "It is a simple question. Those garments should seem familiar."
Magus chooses to say nothing more for the moment. Instead, he crosses his arms as he moves to stand, all the while watching Marle like a hawk.

Could she trust him? Marle rsisted the urge to gulp. She still didn't fully trust the mage after all! Who would? Well, better not to set him off, right? She took another good look... something was EERILY familiar about those clothes... But they were just tatters. "Those... aren't MY clothes, are they?!" HOW the heck could that be possible? But it sure looked like the kind she wore almost all the time when out and about! Shock registered on her face and she stiffened horribly, taking another few steps back... this situation was a bit beyond her...

Magus is glad that Marle seems to be putting it together. "When I said that I loved you, I was not lying. Apparently, however, it was not /you/. It was another you. This proves that theory." The mage summons the clothes back to his hand. He grips the tattered remains tightly, so much so that his knuckles turn white. "You see, wherever it is that you came from... it happened after the instance of this Marle. Which is why I thought you to be her the night in the inn. I was wrong that night... but I am correct on this one. ... I wish I was not."
The doors to the cathedral slam shut. At the same time, the air grows warm again and the candles light back up... but it is still somewhat cold in the room. "I am in love. In love with a ghost. That is why those garments are familiar. They are yours. From another continuity." The mage looks down at that point, his eyes closing which seems to extinguish the "flames" that burn in his eyes.

The Queen shivered, even if it was warming up. She was speechless... Utterly, and completely speechless. For Marle, THAT was quite an accomplishment. "What..." What was he saying? Those rumors really were true... and what Crono had said was definitely true. At that thought, Marle's muscles all slackened. Where was Crono? He was gone, but where? She gulped... it was time to speak like a grown up. "I'm sorry..." It was all she could really say, as she folded her hands behind her back and looked down... "I don't know what to say!" She almost wonderd if he was lying, but there was no way he'd do something like this just to screw around. And she still had a sinking feeling in her gut. "What happened to... " She couldn't even SAY 'her,' let alone, 'the other me.'

Magus clutches the garment against his chest. For all the power and the ferocity that he possesses... he is still just a man. Same as any other man with emotion in his soul. "... I do not know. I found... these, in the woods. Imps were playing with them, tearing them up. I could only find these. Not the body..." He needed not say what happened to the imps. One look into his eyes should tell Marle all she needed to know about /that/. "Considering the circumstances of this time... I can only surmise that whomever is posing as my mother was who did this. I can not believe that Porre is capable of taking her down. She was too powerful. Whatever is behind this..."
The mage quickly tosses a ball of pure flame towards one of the walls of the cathedral. It shatters a hole into the wall large enough for a group of people to walk through.

Indeed, so much for the renovation efforts. Marle LEAPT right off the ground, all but freaking out at that sudden display of power. She'd been feeling... bad... but now, it was simply shock! "EEEEEEK!" As she hit the ground again and panted a bit... she resisted the urge to yell not to scare her like that... but then just shook her head. She then shuddered again, and struggled to get her bearings. "Hey, don't count me out on that!" She was ANGRY now. Very angry. Someone had.. killed... an alternate her... there was definitely going to be payback involved. "Um... by the way, have you seen Crono...?"

Crono was the last person that Magus had on his mind. "I have not," he says simply. The remains of his Marle's clothes were folded over neatly and tucked into the collar of his top where they would rest. He would not let them go. "I lost her. I failed her. Now I want my revenge. For her and for this world. Everything will be what it once was when I am finished with that impostor. And Porre? ... Laughter. I laugh at them. Pathetic, that they would only now capitalize on this fallen land. Unless the impostor (which is what he is calling Queen Zeal) is working with them. I would not be surprised. But..."
Magus stops floating as he falls back to his feet on the platform in front of the pipes that make up the organ. "Now you know why I have said what I have said... The way I have acted around you. This..." he says, placing his hand over his chest where the garment hides underneath. "... All that I have left of her. I will not get into specifics... I am sure you could care less about them." Perhaps a cold thing to say, but it is how he feels right now. "Suffice to say, the two of us were close. Circumstances... were different. But the feelings were true. I feel it is only fair that you know. Now, you do. ... Do with the information what you will."
The mage waves his hand dismissively as he turns towards the hole he blew into the wall of the cathedral.

Holy moly... Marle had to fight to keep her composure here. She shook a little... her head was reeling. Horribly reeling... with no way to possibly measure just how badly. She grabbed at her own arms, hugging herself... ohhhhh geeze. What should she say?! She took several deep breaths, then... stood up straight. As Magus turned around, she called out, a bit shakily, "W-wait!" Then her next words were a lot more solid. "I'm sorry, Magus... I can't speak for another me, and I... This is really weird, but I'm sorry..." Again, what else could she possibly say? She returned her hands neatly to their polite position folded behind her back, and just spent a few moments breathing... straightening out her thoughts. "You keep the clothes, okay?" She added with attempted warmth to overcome Magus's coldness... before turning around.. edging away, then running right out of the cathedral area to the edge of the clearing,where she shuddered again. Ugh, what was going -ON- with the world?! It was messing everything... EVERYTHING... -EVERYHING- up!!!!

Magus had planned to keep the clothes. Keep them forever. He does not respond to Marle when she speaks or when she runs. All he seems to be doing now is picking up bricks.
