The Usual Restaurant

You walk into a very large restaurant with high ceilings that leave the rafters exposed. Fluorescent lamps hang from the ceiling, adding light to the floor and tables. Windows adorn the sides of the place, looking out onto the chaos that is Twisted. On some of the walls are paintings, photographs, and holograms of different movies, and a number of people who tend to visit the UR - caught as they're singing karaoke. The hardwood bar rests at the back of the restaurant, surface polished and shiny and all-together spotless (most of the time). Behind the bar are the various beverages that are serveed, and a giant mirror. There seem to be an inordinate amount of different drinks. A large stage rests in one of the corners of the restaurant, with an amazing sound system and a few microphones strung around it. Multiple round wooden tables are in the room, and a swing door leads into the kitchen. Another door leads to the dance club, and another to the gym. And of course, there's an exit. A large fireplace nestles in one of the walls, with a beautiful stone chimney that flows up and out. A long spiral staircase rests near the entrance to the kitchen, leading to a second-floor balcony that overlooks the UR itself. The lights up there are a bit dimmer than those down below.

Looking aroung the Usual very similar but different. He wasn't entirely sure about coming over here, but the Zoanoid escaping to the area here and him being forced to kill it. David's been hunting and searching for any sign of the Zoalords. So far nothing. Still it's a good place to come in and relax ordering a brandy and sitting down.

The bartender is quick to get the brandy for David. Same layout and everything here as the one David is used to. But Steve the bartender is not anyone that David is familiar with, of course, and most everyone else here is greeting him by name, so he's clearly a usual bartender.

The door to the Usual opens, and in walks a blonde who is more than used to the Usual. But not..../this/ Usual. Cammy looks around, noting a few differences here and there with her crystal blue eyes ever so slightly narrowed in suspicion. Or as close to it as she ever gets. Something has changed, and she has no idea what or how or why. But the Zero Doll is less than happy....or whatever counts as it for her...about it.

David nods as he will accept the drink and put a gold coin on the counter, "Hope that covers it." and asks, "With the small area I don't suppose you have heard of any shape changing monsters in the area." and he pulls out a picture of a couple Ramatih and Gregorl. https://guyver.fandom.com/wiki/Gregole https://guyver.fandom.com/wiki/Ramotith

Looking over in the Direction of Cammy David goes wide eye asking, "Cammy from Neo-Tokyo?"

The blonde's head snaps over to David, eyes narrowed for a moment still, suspicion evident. But then she gives the slightest of nods. "Affirmative." she says in an emotionless near-monotone that would be familiar to anyone from NeoTokyo who's run into her. "Query: Location?"

Steve looks over the picture and shakes his head. "Not that I've seen, nope." He looks a little surprised that the two new people seem to know each other, though. But then he just shrugs and waits to see if Cammy orders anything.

David says, "Some sort of semi collapsed dimensional nexus. I think it's stabilizing. Key word... think. But I have been trapped here for the last few days. David Tin-ge, Formally Jackson, of Neo-Tokyo." he says having switched mainly to his married name. Still David will pocket the photos and nod, "Let me know if you do. If they are here with whom I think they could cause major trouble." he says."

"Then this is now a stabilized point of entry for two dimensional nexi?" Cammy asks, considering the oddness and implications of that idea. "This explains a recent development at the Usual where an individual was reported to have effectively vanished the moment he set foot over the threshold of this establishment into the city proper. He was most likely brought here."

David nods and says, "Yes I think so. Still I crossed through another portal and ended up trapped. Thankfully I have my communicator and it has a transponder. So when the Restoration gets a a chance to find me they might be able to pull me back." Taking a Drink he smiles as it burns his throat in a good way. "But I do have some gold coins on me if you are in need of something to eat, I can pay for it."

Jack Hawksmoor grumbling under his breath, Jack Hawksmoor makes his way back into the Usual. Something about AIs and street lights.

Cammy considers for a moment, before moving towards the bar. "....This unit could use sustenance." she admits. Then looks over at the Bartender, whose name she hadn't caught, and ponders a moment. "Hot dogs with cheese sauce, if available."

Yup, they're new all right, dropping money in the Usual Restaurant as if this place didn't offer its services for free. Well, this branch, at any rate. Regardless, Steve takes care of the orders. David nods and makes a motion to Steve and puts some coins on the counter. "My treat then." looking over to Jack he smiles and offers a wave. "Jack correct?"

"That's right." Jack glances out the door. "Hrm. Need to coax that thing." Then he finds a seat somewhere that's within talking range but distinctly out of the way. He doesn't want to get between people and their food.

Cammy looks over at Jack, not recognizing him, but as he seems to be non-hostile, it seems like there's nothing to worry about there. "Coax what?" she asks.

David says, "WEll forturnalty my powers are intact thankfully." he will lean back to relax and finally order himself a meal, bowl of chili, and spagetti. As he will twist his head some allowing his neck to pop the joints there as he relaxes."

Jack Hawksmoor glances outside. "Recalcitrant street furniture," he explains as if that should make sense. This being Twisted, it probably does. He turns to David. "What kind of powers, or are you keeping it under wraps?"

Cammy just looks at Jack as though he's grown a second head. Even for /NeoTokyo/ that wouldn't make sense, much less here. Come to think of it, she isn't even sure what this place calls itself.

David says, "Well symbiotic alien armor. perfectly safe unless it has red eyes then stay away. It's in protection mode and can't tell friend from foe, and reacts with hyper lethal to anything approaching it."

"Ain't the armor that's dangerous, ever. It's always the person wearing it," the shoeless man says with quiet tones. It sounds like wisdom built from experience. "Okay, so if that happens, is there a good way to restrain it until it calms down?"

David says, "Oh hell yes I am far more dangerous than it is. No, basically best thing to do is leave it alone. I'm basically not in control when it's like that either due to being knocked out, or" and he makes a finger gun shot to the head, "Or incapacitated, until it can restore me and I wake up on my own. Best to leave it alone. Though... there is a normally thirty seconds before it assumes control. Left alone it will just stand there... till it regens me.""

"....Logic would dictate that such a device is unreliable as an allied force in combat." Cammy says bluntly once her food arrives.

"And if some fool decides to try and mess with it?" Jack says. "Just leave it alone is all very well, but you know how many idiots are out there." He glances at Cammy for a moment. She sounds more like an AI than the one he was just talking to.

David shrugs and says, "Yeah there is always some fool that thinks he knows better. But if they loose an arm, or their head. If I gave the warning, I won't feel bad." he says and as he gets his food delivered he looks to cammy. "Actually it's very relible, I know the weaknesses, strengths, and it's pretty damn durible. it took an 70 mm anti tank round to penetrate the armor on the head." he says. "Blew off the back of my head... but."

"......." Cammy simply gives David a blank look before going back to her food.

Jack gives David a studying look. "So, basically, try not to let you get shot in the head. Got it."

David looking at Cammy he shows no lie in the eyes and says. "The armor won't let me die, I put a sesert eagle in my mouth and pulled the trigger. I woke up in the armor, with the celing of my safe house covered in blood, brains, and bone."

As he sighs, and thinks, "Sorry it's a sore subject with me."

Jack Hawksmoor gives David another of those studying looks. "Alien crap, right?" he says with a faint hint of rough sympathy.

Cammy turns to Jack. "That is standard procedure for any combatant." She says in her emotionless near-monotone. Then she turns to David, cocks a brow-- arguably some of the most emotion she's ever shown at a time, and then turns back to her food, unsure how to respond to that.

David says, "Thankfully it is durible as all hell even before the healing factor kicks in."

"Like I said, alien crap." Jack leans back in his chair, then turns to Cammy, "So, what's your story?" He's trying to work out if she's actually a robot.

"Elaborate." Cammy replies, unsure what he means by her 'story'? David nods. "Correct. Thankfully stealing it is neigh impossible."

Jack Hawksmoor shrugs. "You're a fighter, at least I'm getting that vibe from you. Ain't the token normal, that's for sure."

"Correct. This unit is designed for combat, among other purposes." Cammy nods.

David says, "I have seen her fight, one hell of a street fighter I won't deny it. Not sure I could handle her without my armor." Lifting his hands, "Not that I would try...""

Definitely some kind of construct, Jack decides. "I'm not about to try either. I'll save the fighting for when it's needed."

Not quite a construct, actually, But as she can't read minds, Cammy wouldn't know what Jack thinks she is. Instead she nods. "Logical choice. Combat when there is no need for it is a waste of energy and potentially resources."

David nods to Cammy as he smiles, "Agreed." David smiles putting parmasean cheese on his chili and asks, "Well I been hunting some old enemies, hopefully I can find them before they establish a base of operation."

A flicker of red in Jack's eyes for a moment. "Describe them?" he asks. "Of course, you may have to convince me you're the good guy." After all, they've just met. pub Yay.

David pulling out those two photos, "Just two of hundreds of varations." and he will say, "Basically they are mind slaves, telepathically controled by a main master, a Zoalord. Oh as for being the good guy or bad guy, trust me they will make all sorts of claims and arguments why I am the bad guy."

"Which is why I ain't listening to anyone's claims," the citywalker says. "I'll be watching." He studies the photos. Frowning for a moment, "Either they aren't here or they are very well hidden, or it's a variant you aren't showing me."

Cammy looks over at David. "Point to remember. In some world you may well be the antagonist. This 'multiverse' renders it fully possible."

David says, "I was in Neo-tokyo when I caught one of them raiding a medical transport and I followed him here a while ago." Looking over to Cammy, "If you say so.""

"To be blunt, I've been in situations where each side says the other's the bad guys and sometimes they're both wrong...and sometimes they're both *right*." Multiverse aside, Jack's...well...done grey ops. For years.

"It is no less impossible than learning one is known in other worlds as a character in 'video games'." Cammy replies, and twitches as she's reminded of that.

David looking jack right in the eye he says, "My older brother and sister were transform into monsters designed to kill my living armor screaming, //David don't hurt us, Help me, Please do something,// as they were forced to attack and try and slaughter me with three of my best friends. I don'[t think you can get any more text book evil than that."

Finaklly he narrows his eyes, "Look you all have good points but it's beating a dead horse, and it's gonna start an arugment I don't feel my having." How the hell does this happen to him, ending up needing to explain this endlessly.

"Hopefully cammy this place will stabilize soon allowing us to return to Neo-Tokyo. If you come with us Jack, I can let you see offical news reports and even talk to a telepath Jean Grey who touched the mind of one of the Zoanoids and she can share what she had felt.

"I know, but wouldn't they say just as bad things about you. Doesn't mean I won't keep my eyes open." And he has a lot of "eyes," as it were. Jack leans against the bar. "It's not personal."

"Neo-Tokyo must be suffering a similar destabilization as this world, then." the blonde surmises.

David nods and thinks, "Yes....." he instantly seems to be drawn an entire reality away. But as he leans back he pulls out his wallet and looks at a picture of an anthro fox woman holding four anthro fox kits as he looks at her longingly before puitting it away. "Yes. Hopefully it will not last too much longer."

"The question being what caused it in the first place." Cammy says before digging into her food again.

Jack Hawksmoor frowns. "That I can't help with," the shoeless man admits. "I can tell there's some major instabilities, but..."

David says, "with places like this, who knows.""

Cammy finishes off her first hot dog and looks over at the others. "It's likely that trying to figure it out will lead to migraines."

David says, "yeah I stoped trying to figure out Neo-Tokyo long ago. I just call it a dimensional nexus."

A thoughtful look...and no more red glint. "This place is more like...well. It lives up to its name." Jack makes twisting motions with his hands.

"Query: What is this world called?"

David says, "Twisted. It's just called Twisted."

Cammy just raises a brow for a moment. Then goes back to eating.

David nods and finishes his own meal and says, "Sadly I should go. I need to continue my searching. It was nice to see you Cammy, and nice to meet you Jack."

Jack Hawksmoor nods. "Be careful." It has a meaning that might be double...Jack isn't one hundred percent sure about this guy.

David nods and puts some coins down on the counter and offers some to Cammy and Jack. "Here solid gold. Should be worth something here."

Cammy takes teh coins offer to her and pockets it in a compartment in her gauntlet.

Jack Hawksmoor blinks, then nods. He takes the gold...he's sure he'll find some use for it, slipping it into his inside jacket pocket.
