A pair of quadrupeds walk along the tree-lined sidewalk in the direction of the beach. There's no mad running about for them today; sometimes a casual stroll is needed once in a while, after all. "But I wasn't sure which building it was, because of the mix up. The envelope went to one, but the other was owned by this guy -- Raylo Tandon -- that hates pets and animals. A real germophobe," explains Calwa, the smaller of the two, to Chiffon, the larger. Their tails each burn with a special flame at the ends. "I didn't want to walk into the wrong one and cause trouble. It was a real conundrum," he adds, discussing some past courier jobs back on Gaia, the planet where he comes from.

Chiffon's tail sways along with his gait, his ears perked and head tilted with that right amount of relaxation of good company and comfy space. "It's a ~lot~ like mistaking a bear den for a behemoth. Or.. maybe not so much." he pauses a moment, itching his ear before catching up. "The point is, you don't want to get on the wrong side of that! So... how did you figure that one out?"

There is a weird figure standing near the little trail heading to the beach, one that might cause small kids and some people to look over and stare that way, and a hot dog vendor that seems to be slightly unsure how to handle this particular situation. The situation being, a white lion, carefully rearing up, front paws resting on the cart, politely requesting one of those weird hot snacks he seen other people buying. He is wearing a scarf, and somehow produces a small bag from it, rooting into it with his snout, "I have the moneys to trade for it!". He produces some foreign currency (Gil) to the confusion of the poor guy.

"I would have asked people on the street, but it was a pretty wet day. I, well, I sort of randomly just chose one," explains Calwa. That doesn't sound very exciting. "So I circled around and found the fire escape to the next-door office building, took it to the roof, leapt over to the other building and climbed up the rest of the way to the executive office balcony. There was this little indentation of about 12 feet in the building design, so I kind of just...uh, bounced my way up there back and forth." Well, that's a different approach.

"The balcony went around the corner of the building, though, so the side I wound up getting onto was outside the windows to the executive waiting room. I tried peeking inside through the sheets of water, but it, uh, happened to be right when the secretary decided to look outside at how bad the weather was getting. She- She fainted and-" Calwa pauses his stride and his story as his attention passes over the view ahead.

"I honestly am always surprised that our lines of work had... so much in common..." Chiffon chuckles and shakes his head. The contemplation is jumbled off when his gaze follows the other Sanuye's and he gives a curious cock of his head. "... huh. They certainly seem friend shaped." He murmurs. "Hopefully that one doesn't... hate pets and animals. We don't want a full Tandon scenario."

"I hope not," whispers Calwa to Chiffon without taking his eyes off the lion ahead. "That guy fired one of his employees for adopting a cat because he didn't want them coming to work with even a single bit of hair on their suit...and the cat was hairless."

The white lion seems to be trying very hard to be 'polite' and friendly, even if flashing a full grin is not the most reassuring thing to a poor food vendor trying to figure out how to break out the lion doesn't have actual money to pay for the food. "W-welll..." the human tries to say, stuttering a bit. The lion tilts his head, "What... they don't work here?" he says, trying his best to figure the nuances of money. He roots into the bag, and produces a small gold coin. "Would this work?" he mumbles around the shiny disc, placing it down.

The vendor finally reaches for the shiny rock and admires it for a moment, sweating a bit, "Ok, I'll accept this for the hotdog, but only because you seem like a nice ani... guy." He makes the lion one, (at least one with most of the toppings) which the lion gratefully accepts, and proceeds to devour messily, oh dear, the chomping startles the guy more, that is now looking around for any help.

"Hm... it's a pity you can't roack the boat too much in these affairs." Chiffon sighs and wiggles his paws. "People get upset when they get wet. Let's see..." The lug gets it in his head to wander over to where one lion is happily consuming his lunch and produces a bit of coin from his bag. More than helpfully, he offers, "I'll take one, Twisted style." Let's just see where this goes. He casts as a smile, snff, and wave at the other lion before glancing back at Calwa.

Tentatively, as usual, Calwa follows along after Chiffon with a bit of cautious hesitation. One might say that the big lug is much bolder than the runt, but if what Calwa said was true he knows how to freescale buildings. "I mean, I guess I'm hungry, too," admits the glasses wearing Sanuye as he draws closer, although his attention is divided between the food stand owner and the lion. "If you spot me for lunch, I'll buy us dinner, Chiff." And, following up, a shy greeting is given to the white-furred of the gathering. "H,hi...there."

The white furred beast perks his ears as he hears people approaching... or at least voices, huh very silent for the city folk. He helpfully steps out of the way and smiles, smeared with condiments, offering that same grin to the vendor, "That was good, wish i had more of those coins." he mumbles, not realizing likely he paid the vendor enough for most of the food on the cart.

As he steps aside, he turns to greet the arrivals and blinks, tilting his head at the very unusual sight... they look kinda like lions but also like... aardwolves?... "Oh, hello!" he exclaims, trying to restrain his curiosity, eyes roaming the two creatures, first Chiffon, then the one with... glasses?. He flicks his tail, and blinks as he spots the odd flaming tail end, "You are on fire!" he exclaims with concern.

Chiffon nods back, and produces more coin. Little shoulder bags are handy things for liondoggos. "Make that a double. ... and one more." He picks up the pair and drags it back to Calwa, making some space but almost setting up an impromptu lion-picnic. He listens, and nods, and flicks his tail before glancing back a moment. "Oh! Yes. That's supposed to be there." He glances at his companion and grins. "You ever do the thing where you like, pretend it's not supposed to do that? I would, but I don't want to get my food everywhere."

He pauses, and lifts a paw. "We might be at this cart, and on fire, but we're not hot dogs."

Doubling back just enough to move over to where Chiffon sets up the little meal area, Calwa doesn't even get a chance to reply to much before the larger Sanuye hits everybody with such a dorky joke. Calwa winces, lowers his head, and tries to hide a tiny little grin in the process which may not work too very well. "I think we all have at some point," he remarks concerning a false 'ahh I'm on fire' alarm moment.

Peering over at the smaller furred one, "It's a bio-cosmological connection to Cosmo Candle, the Eternal Flame," Calwa explains (amazingly without stuttering), although that means absolutely nothing to most. Still, it's reflex to curl his tail in and around his sitting form so that the 'scary fire' is out of the way. It doesn't seem to set his leg or sidefur aflame, either. "S,sorry for any confusion or dis- discomfort."

Kimba is just confused, tilting his head one way, then the other, looking between the two creatures a bit longer, tapping his chin, before he glances back at Chiffon, nodding at the explanation even if he is not sure he understood much of that. "You two seem very familiar... do you mind if I sit with you?" he asks, before suddenly blinking, "Wait, I know, does the name Nanaki ring sounds familiar? I met another one like you two that was called that, not sure why it took me so long to remember."

"Mm.." Chiffon smiles at Kimba, and ponders a moment before deciding against additional teasing. For now. "That was the idea! I think people are going to be giving us our space for a little bit..." Though the longer they're a part of the community, the easier it is on the eyes. The larger Sanuye's ears perk, and then swivel to Calwa. "... hmm... you know, it does, a bit, doesn't it?"

While Chiffon knows how to play it smoothly, Calwa has a much less leveled reaction: he chokes on a bite of hotdog at hearing and processing the name. Turning away and bracing his forelegs against the ground, the bespectacled Sanuye coughs a few times until a chunk of tasty meat damply hits the sidewalk. How embarrassing. His ears are lain flat and his tail is tucked halfway.

While the lion can't quite read Chiffon's reaction well, Calwa's spit take (literal) makes the lion think harder. He blinks a bit but tries to keep a polite greeting, "I'm Kimba." he says, smiling and hoping he didn't upset them, "I... said something wrong?" he asks, concerned on the poor, choking and distressed Calwa.

Chiffon is more... optimistic than anything. The way he noses at Calwa and gives him a comforting groom after the choke and gesture. "Nothing wrong, no," he assures. "Just a bit of a... surprise I think. Give him a moment." He creases a smile. "May have to introduce him myself 'til he finds his voice. Yes, this is Calwa. If you know Nanaki, good chance you know both..." He adds in as an afterthought, "ah, I'm Chiffon."

With a bit of a disgusted expression, tongue licking over the corners of his mouth in a none-too-pleased fashion at the scene he caused, Calwa slowly turns to face the others once more. "Nanaki, Son of Great Warrior Seto?" asks the quiet one as if to make sure there's no confusion between that Nanaki or any other. "...Nanaki is my father." There's a beat, and then a tint of panic arises. Calwa nearly steps on the food as he looks from Kimba to Chiffon and then back to the lion.

"Wait, is he- Is my father here?!"

Kimba nods a bit and just goes quiet, letting the two others calm down and gather their thoughts, he seems more worried about any trouble than curious. The white feline finally nods. "I do recall him talking of some of his cubs, but I don't know that much about them, "I recall the names Aerith, Chander, Calwa and Hita... if I am not wrong." he says, "I never expected to run into them in this place." he says. The mix of panic and anxiety makes him unsure of the reaction to his next answer but he shakes his head, "Sorry.... but no, he isn't... he is... was in another place... I got pulled here without him, and no clue on how to return."

"Whatever cosmic force is drawing us here, it seems to be stuck on the lion setting." Chiffon licks his lips nonchalantly and returns to nibble at his snack. Not Calwa, but lunch. "Sounds like he's safe at least? Though this understandably raises some questions, quandaries, and... mm. strange possibilities."

There is, at first, this creeping worry that something horrible has gone wrong existentially if yet other places like Neo Tokyo and Mabase exist. Calwa's eyes shift side to side as his brain races over the ideas and possibilities of his other family members being lost, separated, and alone. Turning toward Chiffon, Calwa noses in to insist on tucking his head underneath the larger Sanuye's neck despite Chiffy focusing on food. It's like wrapping yourself up in a security blanket and there's an immediate effect.

"That's so weird. Dad hasn't called us cubs in a long while. S,sorry..." Calwa will be okay, knows Chiffon can salvage the conversation; he just needs a moment. For being so quiet, he sure does have strong emotions.

The lion sighs and lowers himself a bit, ears splayed, "He was really nice, he helped me a lot, I am... not really from cities or places with humans or whatnot... he helped me learn some stuff... even let me stay with him." he says, "I'm sure he is just fine there... not sure how or why I ended here." he mumbles, "I know the other place was called traverse town..." he mumbles, before shaking his head, "But he made it sound like you were really young."

"I'm not even gonna try to unpack how complicated this whole mess is. Or what I'd have to say when I met your dad." Chiffon makes another amused sound, close to Cal whom he is happily propping and giving shelter to. "Well. We're still a -little- young by our standards. Maybe not cubs..."

If there's one thing that can be said, Calwa has extensive knowledge about his home planet and the places built up upon it. "I've never heard of Traverse Town. Not where we're from." That's a confusing statement, though, because when he says 'we' he means his blood relatives and not Chiffon. Chiff has a very different upbringing. There is a long sigh and Calwa pulls away from the big lug to look over his food. "Dad a,always emphasized the importance of learning the world, which meant not sta- staying cubs for l,l,long. Something about how he was already seeing the w-world at my age, so he got me to get into my- my- my courier career."

Calwa shakes his head. "I don't think he'd call us cubs, even affectionately." Oh, wait, he did kinda sorta step on food. He lifts his forepaw to lick the condiments from his claws. "And...I'm sure he'd love to meet you, Chiff. One day." Calwa's gaze moves back to Kimba. "So, you wound up here, too?"

Kimba nods slowly, listening to their answers, and seeming a bit sad they don't seem familiar with that weird town he came from, that is not a good sign. "I only know he found me a bit lost in that town and offered to let me stay with him." he says, before nodding, "I... was a bit of a mess... but, let's say my home is... was? in big trouble... I managed to reach traverse town and now... ended up here somehow, so kind of lost." He grooms one paw and tries to clean his own face, after seeing Calwa doing it, feeling self-conscious about it now. "I admit to be a bit young, but I am not a cub either, been exploring the lands a while, and helping the king and the pack with stuff.

Chiff grooms--well, no, probably just more of Calwa in-between conversational bits. Overbearing, a bit. "These drops do seem a bit rudely timed. Still... we're trying to make a bit of an effort to keep each other in good shape." He fusses with his ear a bit. "One day, though." he agrees with the other Sanuye. "Once all... this gets sorted."

"Well, that does sound like dad, always trying to help. We...don't have a place of our own to even offer that much, though." Calwa, at the very least, is used to being out in potential elements. With a drawn out sigh, the smaller Sanuye flicks an ear and gives Chiffon a nuzzling snout-bump. "If dad was helping him, it wouldn't be fair to not try to do the same...even if work is slow." These last words are spoken to Chiffon as a sudden feeling of obligation weighs Calwa's shoulders down.

To Kimba, a glance is given, then a soft smile that might be a little forced, but only because he's not the most socially talented. "I'm sure w,we can figure something out even if I- I can't live quite up to my dad's level." He holds up a forepaw for a 'high four' gesture.

Kimba finds the grooming cute, and makes him feel a bit nostalgic, but he simply chuckles a bit at first, grooming his own face a bit more. He perks his ears slightly as he hears Chalwa, and notices the curious glance, "Oh, you don't have to go out of your way for me, I can manage myself I'm sure." he muses, "From what i hear this place is used to... oddities, so I maybe can find some kind of work that I can do." he adds, glancing between the two.

"All the more reason to stick together!" Chiffon adds helpfully, rearing back a bit and leaning in with both paws on Calwa. "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours, sort of thing. We don't have to share a cave or something, but the more friends the better, I say." He grins and flicks his tail. "And yeah. There're odd jobs to go about in plenty. Big scores, ehh... we're working on it, yep."

Maybe he's doing it wrong. Calwa awkwardly pulls his forepaw back after a moment, especially with Chiffon getting 'handsy', which causes him to put his foot back down. On the food. Again. "-hckck!" Well, that was a funny noise. He pulls his foot away suddenly, backs up and to the side, loses balance due to Chiffon's leaning in, and has a great big tumble over onto the sidewalk. Look out, lion!

Kimba nods a few times, "Well, that I can understand, helping each other sounds good." he says, chuckling, "I think that sounds pretty good!" he adds. The gesture from the smaller one is interesting, high fives are rare between lions, so he is a bit slow on realizing what the gesture meant. "Oh!" he mumbles awkwardly, and tries to catch the receding paw, means he misses, and ends up a bit unstable! He gets caught in the tumbling pair, and rolls around a bit, chuckling a bit as he tries to disentangle from the pair, nibbling at one lightly, and tries to lean back, wrestling a bit with the two curious lionwolves.

"Good! Good. Though uh. We might have to run some PR or we might get some sort of... pride... pack... reputation going..." Chiffon trails off a bit even as he's tumbling down. Now he's draped over the other Sanuye, who's a bit messy, and Kimba gets involved... there's plenty of tangle, tumble, and a little bit of nip but--well, he's taking it a little easy. It's hard not to when you've just met.

There's a lot of fluff and fur and limbs all in one pile. The food stand owner must be really worried at this point. The worst of it is -somebody- is going to get mustardy pawprints on them, perhaps even in multiple places! After wiggling a bit, Calwa peers out at the world with a soft sigh all tangled and stuck in place. This is his life now.

The lion certainly pushes back a fair bit for a moment, getting a bit carried away with the game, and nipping on the ears of one of the Sanuye, but finally, he pauses for a moment and finally starts to pull back a bit, doing his best to ignore the wet spots on his fur, at least until he is able to groom himself, "What's wrong with a pride?" he asks, tilting his head a bit as he chuckles, "Maybe we should stop playing, I think we might scare the people here."

"That's the, uh, I wouldn't say a problem..." Chiffon manages, after a spate of panting, grappling, and roughing fur up. He does get to licking some of the mustard off of himself and giving his tail a slight curl. "More of a concern. We want people to know we're friendly before we start showing up everywhere together! Otherwise people might come to, uh, relocate us or something... and that's just... awkward."

"...what, d,d,do you really think that could happen?" That's a scary thought and, honestly, not one that Calwa really considered as a possibility. He's fast, though. He's pretty sure he could get away from most dangers, but he wouldn't want to leave others behind, either. "Well...at the least it would be nice to have a private -- or at least quiet -- place to meet up. M,maybe you can talk with me about my dad. It's been a long time since I've last seen- seen my family." A heavy press of Calwa's head pushes against Chiffon. Chiff is family, too.

Kimba finally settles down, disentangled from the others, and now dirty with mustard, "I guess that makes sense." he says, "I realize people might be a bit nervous about a random group of... us!" he says. There is a pause atthe mention of relocation, "Relocate?, they might just... take us to live elsewhere?" he asks for a moment. The question about Nanai gets a nod, "Sure, I can try to tell you a bit about him." he says. He sighs a bit, he misses the lions.

Chiffon gives Calwa a nosing. Hey, he gets it. A little companionship can't erase the distance all this wild world-hopping gets. "Maybe we can work on our image and make our living while we're at it. But that's a thing for later." He shakes his mane a bit, and stretches out, careful not to shove off anylion. "Hmm... I bet we could find somewhere in the city. Yeah. I think I've got a good idea..." He glances back the way they came. "Kinda wanna take another look around today."
