Nowhereto Park - Lakeside

Through the thicket of brush, you've made your way to the lake. Clear, picturesque water ripples softly in a faint breeze, and the sand on the beach is soft and pale-peach. Small ducks swim happily at the shoreline, picking at random things floating here and there. In the distance, across the expansive lake, is what looks like a massive... iron? What is that?

Connecting via a small island near the center of the lake are two long bridges that allow you to cross to the other side of the lake. No one is sure when the bridges where built but the 'MM' design worked into the side panels is a sure giveaway as to whom was responsible.

It's just after lunch time on the day Shiro had told Adam to meet him at the park. It's nice out and he's managed to spread a comfy blanket out over the ground, along with a basket placed on top. ....why ever would he be doing a picnic AFTER lunch though? And what in the world would Shiro have in the basket, given the failures that are his attempts at cooking?

Adam's just soon arriving once the blanket's been spread out on the ground. Like Shiro suggested, he's in casual clothes -- polo shirt, jeans, and his ever-present hiking boots. Also present is the compression sleeve on his left arm, worn under the polo shirt.

And he seems to have a similar thought. He blinks at seeing the basket. "A picnic AFTER lunch?" he inquires. Though he's not being judgy about it. Maybe there's something else in there. Shiro did say it was a surprise.

Shiro pulls a bottle out of the basket, taking out some glasses as well. He'd pour some for both of them, and even though he's being secretive about it, Adam might catch on to what it is. What it IS being one of Adam's favorite drinks. With that pulled out he reaches in and pulls out an obviously store bought thing that came from a bakery or something.

That favorite drink? Maybe surprisingly? Not alchoholic, at least by legal standards. Ginger beer! Just a drink made of ginger, water, and sugar, fermented with yeast and sometimes carbonated. It doesn't smell or taste like ginger ale at all -- it's a spicy and strong drink. And Adam knows instantly what it is, by the spicy smell. "Takashi, is that ginger beer?" he asks. A pause, to look at the bakery thing. He expected store-bought, so that's not a big surprise. But he's a little confused as to what's going on. Even if he's got a smile on his face, because... well. Ginger beer. It's been a while.

Shiro grins and nods in reply. "Yeah, I managed to find some," he states "I was worried about if I could find it or not, but I did. It's why I was being so avoidant about telling you what I wanted to find yesterday." He'd open the bakery box, revealing another favorite of Adam's...possibly? It looks to be topped with crushed graham cracker...

Adam blinks. Sniffs again. Smells like... "Chocolate? And graham crackers?" He starts to chuckle. "Is this because I was whiny earlier?" he asks, half teasingly. "I may have to do that more often, if this is how you respond." He's kidding of course.

Shiro laughs a little in turn. "No, this is the celebration of you getting your job," he replies, "If I was going to give you something for whining it'd be different than this..." He'd slice up the desert and give some over to Adam on a paper plate.

Still chuckling, Adam inquires, "Oh really? What would it be, a punch in the face? I hope it wouldn't be the metal one." He's obviously teasing, to note. He accepts the offered plate with a nod and, "Thank you."

Shiro chuckles as well. "No, that wouldn't be aiming for your face," he replies with a smirk, "Either hand..."

Adam tilts his head at this, clearly a bit confused. But he doesn't ask -- that smirk gives him the idea that... maybe he shouldn't. Instead he just takes a bite of the pie. And smiles. Once he no longer has food in his mouth, he notes, "This is pretty much the lazy pudding thing I used to make. This is definitely a suitable celebration, I think."

Shiro smiles at what sounds like approval. "Yeah, that's the idea," he states, "And I've got something else in here for you too..."

"Oh?" Adam tilts his head up, looking at the basket. He doesn't make an effort to look inside it, but from the way he eyes the basket he really looks like he wants to! But, well. He does trust Shiro, so he doesn't. YET. For now he just eats his pie and drinks his ginger beer.

Shiro reaches in and offers out a flat package in turn. It's a small, flat package. Inside of it is a disc of what Shiro remembers being Adam's favorite movie for relaxing to.

This actually surprises Adam! And no, it's not a ridiculous romantic comedy or other thing like that -- one might think so, with how soft he is most of the time. No, Adam's favorite movie to relax to? A science fiction with quite a bit of action! Shiro might even like it too! Which... admittedly is probably why he and Shiro got along so well back then, their likes were rather similar.

Adam blinks. "...Oh, wow. Where did you find this?" he inquires, looking the disc over. Now he understands why Shiro was looking for familiar things, though -- for this!

"I had to look over the net pretty hard to find one...but I managed. Not without almost spoiling it for how much you were offering to help me though." He chuckles a bit and offers a smile. "I was honestly worried you'd have me giving up the surprise just in trying to explain why I wasn't asking for help."

Adam chuckles. "I figured you were feeling a bit homesick, so you wanted to find something that you make you feel a little better," he replies. "I know I've been feeling out of place. For obvious reasons." And also for some NOT so obvious reasons! "So I thought you might be feeling that way too." He smiles broadly. "Thank you. This will go a long way to helping out." At least, for the obvious reasons he feels out of place...

"I figured we could watch this after we get back home," Shiro explains, "Though, I suppose maybe I should look for some stuff to make me more comfortable too in time, now that you've mentioned it...this was all about you today though!"

"That's a good idea," Adam agrees. "A chocolate pie, ginger beer, and a movie I haven't seen in a while. That sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon," he decides. It also sounds like a good date -- no no, bad Adam. They're not dating.

"Of course I can't really do anything about any real food aside from paying at a resturaunt, so this seemed like the best way to handle it," Shiro states, "A resturaunt didn't feel like the thing to do for this."

Adam nods. "That makes sense -- it's not like we can just pop down to a restaurant I liked, or anything like that." It wouldn't have served to make either of them feel closer to the world they're currently in. "This helped out a lot, thank you."

"You're welcome," Shiro answers with a smile, "Now let's just have a nice day together and think plenty of good thoughts."

With a chuckle, Adam agrees, "Sounds like a good idea." There will be plenty of bad thoughts later. For now he can just enjoy time with a friend. It's a nice day outside, no rain so far, not too cold or too hot, and there are a lot of his favorite things here!
